En cualquier caso, y volviendo a la movilidad de la comunidad universitaria, el número de solicitudes aumenta cada año, lo cual indica que existe un creciente interés en este tipo de ayudas. Esto ha supuesto, a su vez, la creación de un programa similar de carácter intercontinental, denominado Destino PDI y PAS, que también es cada vez más solicitado.
¿Qué consejo le daría a un profesor o investigador que estuviera leyendo esta entrevista? Entre los profesores suele ser muy habitual la movilidad por motivos de investigación, pero aún así, recomiendo a todos ellos —y en especial a los más jóvenes— que opten a las distintas ayudas de movilidad para incrementar su red de contactos.
¿Y qué nos puede contar sobre las dobles titulaciones? Las dobles titulaciones internacionales es otro aspecto clave en la estrategia de internacionalización de la UMH. Existen tres grandes bloques: doctorado, máster y grado. En este último caso, la gestión de un doble título internacional es muy compleja por los trámites que hay que realizar y todavía no disponemos de ninguno. Sin embargo, en los casos de máster y doctorado, se han gestionado y activado nuevos convenios que complementan la oferta actual de estudios de la UMH y ofrecen una vía para aquellos alumnos que quieran disfrutar de estas interesantes oportunidades. Por ejemplo, actualmente en la EPSE se está organizando un Master de marcado carácter internacional por su formato, ya que es semipresencial, con un contenido online y unos créditos impartidos por profesores de la UMH en las instituciones con las cuales se ha firmado el convenio. Es una iniciativa ambiciosa y esperemos que sea exitosa. ¿Ha considerado seguir colaborando en la internacionalización de la UMH ya sea institucionalmente, como docente o investigador? Por supuesto. Con independencia del rol que tenga en el futuro, creo firmemente en la internacionalización y estoy seguro de que seguiré participando en acciones y proyectos relacionados.
¿Qué valoración general extrae de su paso por el vicerrectorado? La experiencia durante estos años ha sido muy positiva, y en gran parte ha sido gracias a los magníficos compañeros con los cuales he trabajado. No quiero olvidarme de nadie así que de forma general me gustaría dar las gracias a mis compañeros del Vicerrectorado y a todo el personal del Servicio de Relaciones Internacionales, Cooperación al Desarrollo y Voluntariado.•

What advice would you give a professor or researcher reading this interview? Among faculty, mobility is quite common due to research, but even so, I would recommend that all of them–especially the most junior–pursue mobility assistance to increase their network of contacts.
What can you tell us about dual degrees? Dual international degrees are another key aspect in the UMH internationalization strategy. Three large kinds exist: PhD, master, and undergraduate. In the latter case, managing an international dual undergraduate degree is very complex due to the necessary administrative formalities, and so we do not offer any yet. However, in the cases of masters and doctorates, new agreements have been managed and activated that complement the current academic offering at the UMH, and offer routes for students who wish to take advantage of these interesting opportunities. For example, the School of Engineering of Elche is currently organizing a master program that is international in nature due to its format, blended learning, and contains online content and some credits taught by UMH professors at the institutions that have signed the agreement. This represents an ambitious initiative that we hope is successful.
Have you thought about continuing to collaborate with UMH internationalization on either an institutional, research, or teaching level? Of course. Regardless of my future roles, I firmly believe in internationalization, and I am sure that I will continue participating in related actions and projects.
How would you assess your time at the Vice Rectorate? The experience these years has been very positive, and largely thanks to the magnificent colleagues with whom I have worked. I do not want to forget anybody, so I would like to give thanks in general to my Vice Rectorate colleagues and to everybody at the Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism.•
