Yes He Is ... Writing My Jesus Story

Dedication to my Dad, Ray L. Clark, born 1906 and raised on the Oklahoma Prairie. 40 Plus years Later, dad had an encounter one Sunday that changed our family lives. My Aunt Cleo wrote about their growing up years on the Oklahoma Prairie as they settled the prairie land for their growing family. My Dad was the third of seven children. Aunt Cleo wrote: “We would go to revival meetings in the wagon. Usually, someone erected an arbor, covered with tree limbs for shade, or a tent. We kids would ride on hay and quilts in the back. And sometimes, when we got there, people would put the little ones to sleep on the quilts in the front. I only remember one song that I have never forgotten. I went out to play the next day and I said to my brother, “I can sing.” It was, “Shall we gather at the river, the beautiful, beautiful river. The river that flows by the throne of God.” In reading this from Aunt Cleo, I could see now My Dad 40 + years later, on a hunting day near our home in Boise, Idaho. How His life was touched by the music coming from a little Country church … calling him back in time to remind him of so many wonderful childhood memories. And why it would cause him to turn to his hunting partners and say, “Next Sunday I will be in Church”. Now His callings to gather together with his family in Church once again. 2

And indeed: We all were in Church together, for the first time that following Sunday. Finding us Joining the church, one and all, followed by an immediate baptism. And indeed: My Dad was in Church for the rest of his days…. All because he heard the heart of the music divinely fill the air and my father’s heart, from a little country church somewhere in the sagebrush hills outside of Boise, Idaho.

And indeed: after the beginning of our Sundays in Church … for the rest of his devoted days … he would love to spend hours playing his guitar and harmonica recording each song on an old tape player. With great joy, play his recordings laud enough for all our ears. The songs God placed in a little Oklahoma boy’s heart ... 40 plus years later in the wilds of our sagebrush valley … God used him to sprinkle those seeds of passion into our lives and hearts to now share with you. 3

A Few Comments 4

Yes, He Is … Writing MY Jesus Story.” Acts 1:8 With Pastors Al and Helen Cambra … This booklet is to share Jesus’s Story in our story, WE are all called to be witnesses and Share the reality of Jesus by the Power of His Holy Spirit working in and through our daily lives. The reality of His Divine relationship with us, as He had led us and talked with us along our way. Yes, we are to tell His story from the creation to now.

Global Mission Ministry Center globalmissionmc@aol.com Boise, Idaho 5

Heritage …. God commanded the people through Moses. in the book of Deuteronomy ( 4:9).

“Only be careful and watch yourselves closely, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live”. “Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”

Each Generation … has memories, stories, and values it wants to pass along to the next generation. This especially, includes the spiritual values of our faith and our walk with Jesus. Psalm 139:13-18 A psalm of David. 13

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body.

and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! 6

Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. 16

How precious are your thoughts about me,[b] O God. They cannot be numbered! 18 I can’t even count them. they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! 17

Preparing for the Journey signpost One…. We are going to begin our discovery journey together over these next pages of stop, start and write note memories.

But Pause Now, in your present journey, to look back over all that you have traveled. Look back to your beginning. We know all that the Scripture has told us about the “beginning of the beginning” in the Garden (Genesis 1).

7

When God started His plan for man into motion. So that, He would be able to enjoy relationship with man by meeting in the Garden. He gave us everything we would need and told us to take care of all that we had been given. Well, you know the rest of the story over times and seasons. Man to couple, couple to family, family to families, then it comes to Jacob and His 12 sons that become, “The nations” … still, it is all about the relationship that God wants to share with us along with His provisions. We see from the beginning, all things are shared from generation to generation, about God along with His plan and His purpose. Today, because of Jesus going to the Cross, for our sins and reopening the door. We all again can walk and talk with God, in that special relationship, where He promises to lead us and be with us and dwell within us. Along with the Holy Spirit and all His wonderful fruits and gifts

8

that God provided for us, on our journey along His way. We know what the Bible has shared with us and now we stand here as we look at our own generations of our individual families through the years. Yes, We are responsible to share all this forward to our generation and the ones who follow after us.

As for me (Helen), My Mother (Marie), wrote about her “Mamma and Pappa” … their travel from Germany in the later 1800’s with two small boys and three months on a ship to Venezuela, South America with a boat load of Dairy Cattle… then ending up some years later in the USA, homesteading new land of Jerome, Idaho where she was born. It is quite an amazing story.

She said, ” This has been some of the things about Mamma and great, great grandparents. They were good honest hard-working, Christian people.” Papa, I wanted the family to know. I 9

hope you will treasure the thoughts of your grandparents, great grandparents, and On my Father’s side, his eldest sister, My Aunt Cleo, wrote about Oklahoma and my grandparents and their Indian heritage. Along with the story of her growing up without a father who had died in trying to bring his family to a new land in those times. She said, “May I recapture it all for you an eternal love, my dear Children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. May you, too , share even now that we can build and maintain that fragile bond of family on earth and in heaven. May those we love, cherish our memory, and preserve it somewhere that those you cherish most, will not be denied the beauty, and love it might together in a true family tie. And I pray that this circle be unbroken on earth, or even in heaven.” bring in knowing someone cares.

10

I dedicate this loving, kind, caring of family ties to a pioneer father; and to my mother who gave her whole life to hold seven children.

Each wrote why they felt it was so important that we who follow them would have to embrace the ties to the family and times that they experienced. What memories do you cherish from those that laid your foundation through your generations? Just pause and jot down whatever thoughts pop into your mind. See, things are still about sharing our relationships together, in our family and with each other, Along with our relationship with Jesus to encourage others in their divine journey. (Psalms 139) God formed us, planned us, and numbered our days in our mother’s womb… He did not need the dust of the earth for us now as in the beginning with Adam… He still wants to walk and talk with us in our garden together.

11

What do I do with all this? … listen and let the Holy Spirit prompt you along your journey of collecting your life notes. Maybe, He already has been speaking to you? Maybe, You have no family memories … you then become the foundation for those who follow you. Maybe, Like Esther, “Who knows, that you came to position for such a time as this.” (Esther 4:14) Again, Listen to His leading and directing, as you note the different memories, on the pages of ”My Heritage … Signpost Along The Way”. I am not saying, you write a book, but I am saying, to bring into remembrance, by making note to remember and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in what to do, along your way. Enjoy the journey… maybe some tears, maybe some joy, but all in all eternal treasures to be shared. Note: Like my Aunt Cleo writing. “To me, learning about our parents, grandparents and

12

ancestors gives a sense of belonging, a sense of identity, and a sense of “family.” For this reason, I write my autobiography. It tells of those who have touched me. These people are mine (and yours), rich or poor, educated or not. There are lessons that I have learned from each of them. In my youth, they loved me. They never seemed to dwell on hardships. There have been tears that made for a feeling of love; a bond of “family” took place. I have longed to know grandparents and people more personally, and have held to the hope that someday, perhaps on the other side, that longing will be fulfilled.

“Have you ever felt that way?” 13

Explore Life and Relationships Start your legacy journey by asking God to remind you of the many ways he guided and directed your life. You may have been a believer all your life or discovered Christ at some point along the way. Whether you come from a long history of believers in your family or are the beginning of the legacy, capturing your story and passing down your faith experience down will be YOUR forward to the next generations.

1… Describe what you may know about your birthyear including where you were born, family circumstance, siblings (birth order) etc.

2

… Capture the spiritual climate in your home and spiritual heritage from your grandparents, great-grandparents, or anyone else in your family that may have had an influence in your life.

3

… Describe your educational background,

both spiritual and secular.

4

… Capture major life events that occurred in each decade of your life, such as accepting Christ as your personal savior, relocations or moving, 14

marriage, divorce, death in the family, births, career paths, or any other major life event that influenced who you are today.

5

… Describe specific accomplishments you are most proud of and where God had a hand in developing you to fulfill that plan for your life. Our entire life is Gods. Don’t hesitate to talk about ALL of the things in your life that have meaning to you, not just what you think might be “the spiritual part”.

NOTES: There is a saying that goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.”

Pastor Helen …

Jesus in My Life My Call, like Esther… “Who knows, that for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 “It’s At The Altar” and Journal, “In Moments Like These”. . . along the Way.

NOTE … Yes, He is…. He is leading me in writing His Story in my Story… He formed and planned me in my mother’s womb. He has given me the Holy Spirit to lead me, teach me, bring me in remembrance of all that He has said. Yes, He is the answer to all things and all ways in my life. 17

Yes, He does walk with me and talk with me wherever I go. One Saturday morning in my 30’s … as I was awaking to a new day … I heard a voice within me say…. “With the same help you have received, help others receive that help.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 NLT He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

I was not sure what that meant… Teach a class? ? ? ? ? ?

No idea of what to do nor how with those Words given me that Saturday morning …. The Holy Spirit began to lead in so many unexpected open doors as I stepped forward in each leading and open door. 18

Prison Ministry, 12 step groups, correspondence ministry, radio, family church and school activities. Teen Challenge Etc.

Then came … The Call … “Do You Love Me”? Early one day while cleaning the floors of our home. I heard these Words,

“Do you love me?” Three times just like to Peter in John 21:15-25 Three times I also answered. Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” 19

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

Then I knew my challenge of love. was to take the road to study for our Ministerial Certificates … So, for the next 4 years, we got up at 6 am to study our lessons from the Berean Bible School … for an hour each morning, while our children still slept, before Al going to work, and me getting them ready for school and my own daily schedule. In two years, we became certified Christian Workers. In another two years we became licensed A/G ministers. For the next 2 years, we begin our new roles. 20

Then in 2 years, the nudge came for another two years of study to become ordained Ministers … Just in time, to be able to become National Home Missionaries and directors for Teen Challenge of Idaho. Later into Global Missionaries.

It's at the Altar It's at a rugged mountain alter at 14 (July 26, 1953). I dedicated my life to serve Him. It's at the troubled night season of my teens,

I sought out the altar, of an open catholic church.

It's at the altar, I became Al’s wife (Nov. 15. 1958)

It's at the altar, we dedicated four babies. It's at the altar, I laid down my old life. And stepped into my new life (Oct 1974) 22

It's at the altar, I kissed the cheeks of those gone by.

It's at the altar, I learned. to press into the hem of his garment... To push past the crowd and touch the Master Healer.

It's at the altar, I have sought His Face It's at the altar, I have found His grace. There I have lingered to feel His touch.

Words given at the Altar have marked my life. They have guided and they have carried, and they have strengthened.

23

At the altar, I found reconciliation. of broken hearts and broken relations.

It's at the altar, I've made decisions and choices. I have taken strength and received new courage. There I have found Joy unspeakable, full of His Glory. There I have found peace - hope and most of all His love. There I run to climb in His lap. Like a child crying "Abba Father” wiping my tears, pouring His love .... love .... love...

24

oh, how I love the altar of His Presence. To Press in and feel His touch.

26

Pastor AL’S STORY THE BEGINNING: I was born on August 2, 1935, on Kauai. Hawaii. From An Early Age, even before I had a relationship with Jesus. my parents required that my brother and I were in church on Sunday morning before we were allowed to get with our friends. As I can remember, We couldn’t wait for the service to get over so we could leave. Back then everything was in Latin except for the reading of the scriptures. I believe the seeds that they sowed into my life at that early age, although may have remained dormant for a season of time, God honored their efforts and eventually those seeds brought forth fruit in my life. As I can remember, my Dad was a praying man, faithful in prayer. I did not realize it then; I believe God used his devotion to prayer to witness to me. I believe God can use experiences in our growing up years to influence us later on in life not even realizing that His hand was on us at that time.

27

 The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in

the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. When I left home to join the military,(US Air Force) I found myself going to the Base chapel whenever I had problems. I believed God used my parents' faithfulness at my young age to instill in my heart, not really understanding what was happening, as a drawing to Him. MOVING ON!!! My first duty station after basic and technical training was Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. I got to know some other guys stationed there from Hawaii and we hung out together. We would go into Boise on the weekends or whenever we could and eventually had an apartment there. Got to meet a wonderful family there whom we spent a lot of time with when we went to Boise. It was through this family that I met Helen, the “Love of My Life.” We were married in 1958 and have been together for 64 years. I believe, although not realizing it at the time, my assignment to Mountain Home AFB was God ordained. Our military career eventually led us to Travis AFB where through a series of events and relationships our lives were changed, and we experienced a personal relationship with Jesus. 28

There was a specific individual, Undis, who came into our lives through a tragic event, who was a powerful witness for the Lord and encouraged Helen and then me which led us to an alter in a little church where we wept and asked Jesus to come into our lives. We were baptized in water and later we had a powerful experience of being baptized in the Holy Spirit on Christmas night. We attended a little Assembly of God church where the pastor taught and preached like he really knew Jesus not just talking about Him. I remember thinking, oh how I wish I could preach and teach the Word of God like he did. God was so good in placing us in a place where we could be taught God’s Word and loved and accepted by those whom we had the opportunity to fellowship with. Undis was the individual that God used to witness to us in our early years in walking with Jesus. It all started with a relationship and then walking together in life sharing Jesus together.

Windows of opportunity frequently present themselves; we must ask God to help us recognize them.  1st Peter 3:15, (NIV), But in your hearts revere

Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the Hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 29

BACK TO IDAHO: After retirement from the Air Force, we returned to Boise. The Lord led us to an Assembly of God church on Easter Sunday. Central Assembly was the first church we visited, and we have never left although the location and the name has changed to CityHope. I can remember that first Sunday at Central, the people were very friendly and greeted us with open arms. A couple we met invited us to a home bible study which we attended for years. Pastor Strayer and his wife Wilma began to lead and teach us. HUNGER FOR GOD’S WORD: All the people told us when we joined the home fellowship, we were like a couple of birds in a nest with our mouths wide open so hungry for God’s Word. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4,”Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” I am reminded of the words of Psalms 81:10, (NLT), For it was I, the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things. . APPLICATION OF THE WORD:(Lifestyle)

30

The Lord put us with a group of people that not only taught us the Word of God but also demonstrated how to walk it out in our daily lives. We are called to live a Christ-like lifestyle. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us and yielding to His leading can we accomplish this. . We must realize “Walking the talk” or practicing what we preach is vital as an effective witness to people, especially those we are teaching and are looking to us as an example of what a Christ-like life should be.  The Apostle Paul notes in Philippians 3:17, (NLT), Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, learn from those who follow our example.

BEING AVAILABLE: Pastor Strayer made himself available to us in times of need. I remember a time when I had an asthma attack and he responded to our home to pray for me. That showed me his love in being there for others going through a challenge and trial in life. He walked with me through this challenging time. I remember when we keeled down to pray looking at the wall … I said, “ can’t you see Him” (Jesus). 31

I couldn’t tell you what He looked like, but His presence was there in the Spirit. 

The psalmist notes in Psalm 145:18, (NLT), The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.

The Apostle Paul notes in his letter to the Thessalonians in 1st Thessalonians 2:7-8, NLT), As apostles of Christ, we certainly had a right to make some demands on you, but instead, we were like children among you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children. We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives too.

Sharing with OTHERS: Through our involvement with the home group and people in our church community we were encouraged in our growth process and the Lord began opening doors for us into various ministry areas. This gave us the opportunity to not only meet people and cultivate new relationships but also new sharing opportunities. The writer notes in Hebrews 10:24, (NLT), Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works, 32

Facilitating Children’s Church ( involving our children) Prison Ministry; Paper missionaries to over 900 inmates; Love Link ministry; Services/Bible studies; Conferences with Prison Fellowship. Teen Challenge: School; Ministry Homes; Support Groups Ministry abroad; Mission trips to Guatemala; working with ministries in Nigeria, India; Pakistan. Through the various ministry phases the Lord helped us to complete our requirements for our Christian Workers and Licensed Minister then our Ordination. The Lord has blessed us to be involved with what He is doing in so many areas teaching us to trust Him and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Sharing may vary for us depending on the giftings and talents we have, the people that we are ministering to and how the Lord leads in our sphere of influence. We must remember in the process of sharing with others we want to tell then what Jesus has done and continues to do in our lives. The psalmist notes in Psalm 66:16, (NLT), Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He did for me. 33

 The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Colossians notes in Colossians 1:28-29,(NLT), So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and  teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect (mature), in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me. *The Heart of Sharing Jesus’ Jesus is the focus of the sharing process. Share how He interacts with you daily. How he talks to you, How he leads you throughout your day. I think of the Chorus “In The Garden” which talks about God’s close relationship with us. The words: And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own; Speaks of the intimate relationship that God wants with us. People we share with need to know how much they are loved by God and that He so desires to have an intimate relationship with them.

*Important means of teaching God’s Word  2 Timothy 1:16-17, (NLT), 34

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work. We all need to be taught and teach “The Pure Word of God”, that we might grow and mature and also be able to discern false teaching and recognize those who would teach doctrine that would lead us astray.  (See Ephesians 4:14, (NLT), Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever, they sound like the truth.  See also 2nd Corinthians 4:2, (NLT),  We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the Word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this. THROUGH IT ALL. Through my life experience walking with the Lord and working with people I have learned a few things that I consider important not only in our personal lives but also when sharing with others. 35

 COMMIT TO TRUSTING GOD:), Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding, seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6, (NLT “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, “ says the Lord. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9, (NLT), So, based on the scriptures, we can have complete confidence in God’s leading in every area of our walk with Him.

This is something we must share and demonstrate in our lives.

Jesus said, “AND BE SURE, OF THIS! I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, EVEN TO THE END OF THE AGE!” Matthew 28:20 36

Passing it on …. Stir Up “In Moments Like These”

Words from the Holy Spirit spoken to me.

(Pastor Helen’s Journal) Stir and keep stirring the gifts I have placed in you. Remember it is up to you to keep stirring my gifts within you. They can lie dormant within, never be seed, never grow if you allow yourself to keep them silent and nonproductive. Stir them and I will teach you to use them. As you use them, they will grow and as they grow you will see the fruit feeding those around you. They are my secrete ingredients to the success and abundance I am bringing your way direction. Be confident, do not compare results. Only gain- in confidence the choice you make is. As you see it is in motion this you will know it is the right direction. 40

Let my peace be your guide in stepping forward into the parting. I will meet and match each step. My teaching is an easy thing, but so many struggle to see the simplicity of my relationship. Open your eyes to within, did I not say the Father and I would come in and sup if you would open the door. Just open the door and let Us in. See how simple. It is not in the looking beyond – It is the looking within. When the King looked in the furnace, he saw the fourth man walking. Look in to see me. Look in to hear me. Step out to respond to me and see my hand move for you. Plant what you want for tomorrow. Yes, you make your plans, and I will direct your steps. But remember, I give you the desires of your heart, but I plant the desires. In me this is all so easy.

Gift This gift I had planned from the beginning of the planning. It is part of the impartation what was planted and will unfold a hundred-fold. 41

Every time you plant, it multiplies and increases because the soil has been prepared and made fertile in obedience. In the struggle of obedience is the tilling of the ground to bring it ready to receive the tender seeds of obedience. Faith becomes the substance in the seeds springing forth its life.

A Word from The Holy Spirit …. Leading and guiding are two different ways to follow …. leading is following from behind. and guiding is following alongside. There is a process of moving one to another, but both will have its time and position. Now is the time of leading as things are being set into an order of placement. As those come along side then you will move into a guiding as they step forward into their lead position. This brings a readiness of position for each one in application and accountability. To who much is given comes the requiring of all that has been given to be used for My purpose in kingdom preparation. There is a cycle to repeat from one to the other.

42

Launch it … release it…. Repeat it. Over and over in a free flowing of My Spirit that trains and equips each one in the way for me. Think about someone teach one to ride a bike. who holds on to steady the course and the rider …

then releases the rider to his own stable

control of his bike.

Remember, it is for him

to learn. and for him to take the wheel in my control.

43

The Word Imprinted Scriptures …… Take time to identify individual scriptures that were most meaningful to you at each phase of your life. For instance, if you had a very difficult or traumatic experience, what were the scriptures that were most comforting or strengthening during this time in your life.

Psalm 139:13-16 – I was planned. 45

Amplified Bible

For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. 13

I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. 14

15

My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was being formed in secret, And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth. 16

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance.

And in Your book were all written The days that were appointed for me, When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].

Jeremiah 1:5 Amplified Bible 5

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you [and

approved of you as My chosen instrument],

Acts 17:26-27 (From the Beginning) Amplified Bible And He made from one man every nation of Mankind to live on the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands and territories. 27 This was so that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grasp for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 26

Isaiah 43:10 Amplified Bible 10

“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD,

“And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me.

47

Acts 1:8 – Witness Call Amplified Bible

John 14:25 - Holy Spirit My Teacher … “I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26 But the [d]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor— Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. 27 Peace I leave with you. 25

My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. Stones of Remembrance – A Sign: Joshua 4:6-7 That this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in times to come, “What do those stones mean to you?” Then you shall tell them, that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were So, these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.”

Heritage – Passing It On …

Our Gift to Future Generations Our heritage, We will then be able to pass it on to our children with a little bit of ourselves attached to it. What we do now, how we live our lives and the character we build, adds to the heritage we leave for our children. It is not about the money or property we leave behind, but it is about the reality of our relationship with Jesus. Our walking and talking with Him as He leads us along the pathway, He has designed for us using the gifting and talents as He directs … leaving stones of remembrance along our pathway that will enhance their pathway …. but we can give a rich heritage to them. We can offer a heritage that will enhance their lives in their own relationship with Jesus that we desire for them.

That together, we will share an eternal heritage the way God planned.

About the Authors Pastor/Missionary Helen Cambra National Assembly of God Intercultural Missionary Home 501c-3 office at CityHope Church Boise formerly Central Assembly Ministry: Global Mission Ministry Center I am a native Idahoan born in Jerome to a strong pioneer family. Growing up brought about a constant change of places, which took me all over the Northwest until my early teens. My life was dramatically marked on July 26, 1953, while attending a youth camp in the mountains above Sun Valley. God drew me as a young teen to an altar of dedication. A dedication to become a foreign medical missionary. However, my life detoured from that mountain top experience into Teenage rebellion, followed by marriage and four children. Twenty years later the scars of my life left a broken young woman. October 1974, God drew me weeping to another altar and set my life back on His course. That October Sunday I listened as the young pastor was talking about Jesus as if he really knew him. Something exploded inside my spirit and brought me to my knees. I wanted that, I wanted to know Jesus like that! In an instant, all the years of corrosion were stripped away. I had never felt such peace. It was like being caught away into the loving arms of my heavenly Father. My spirit within me sang . . . Where He leads me, I will follow, Where He leads me, I will follow. Where He leads me, I will follow, I'll go with Him, with Him, all the way.

For the longest time, I was caught up into His presence. When I rose to my feet ... indelibly imprinted in my heart was, "that the Word was the Word, and every bit of the Word was true." 60

I never understood until then, that God wanted a personal relationship with me. He wanted me to walk with Him, talk with Him, most of all to listen to Him and follow Him in fulfilling His purpose for my life. That was the beginning of many sweet times with the Lord. One day while working at home He spoke into my spirit, "Lovest thou me?" I answered, "Yes, Lord." Then He spoke, "Feed my sheep." He reminded me of that unforgettable mountain altar of dedication. Since then, I have marched to the mandate of Isaiah 54:2-4. (Taking those things placed in my hands and strengthen them so He can lengthen them) He has fulfilled that mountain call as He has led me, along with my husband Al, to become ordained Assembly of God Ministers and Nationally appointed Home Missionaries. Together, we raised four wonderful children, pioneered ministry in Idaho, founded Teen Challenge of Idaho and the Teen Challenge Academy through the 80's and 90's. The new millennium launched Global Mission Ministry Center for training and releasing individuals in their divine destiny and leading short term mission teams. God has given me opportunities to organize and speak at conferences, seminars, and retreats. He has also opened doors of ministry into Mexico, Romania, Holland, Russia/ Siberia, Guatemala, Japan, Nigeria, Pakistan, India, with new doors into the Media. My greatest passion is to encourage and share the faithfulness of God. God has shown me His calling and purposes are irrevocable in our lives. God wants us released to fulfill all that He has planned and purposed for our lives. My life has been marked and fulfilled by that indelible call in the mountains of Idaho as a young teenager. Now, it is marked to call others forward into their calling. He is still expanding and deepening that plan in new and wonderful ways together, we will gain the prize of our high calling in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. He has promised the latter will be greater than the former. 61

Pastor Helen Cambra

Pastor/Missionary Al Cambra Thank you to my wonderful husband Al and partner in life, love, family, and ministry. We have traveled our journey side by side in our different giftings and callings, but together in the leading of the Holy Spirit. He is a wonderful Man of God’s Word …. His leading and sharing has touched countless hearts here at home and abroad … I Just know, when this young man fresh away from the islands, now in Air Force Training. Overcome by His newness … sought an Air Force Chapel… And I in my life traumas, sought a different altar of an open-door Catholic Church in my late teens. Both of us, in our own ways, searching out God as we knew about Him then. That God, looked down on us at these different altars, Me in Boise … Al, so many miles away. God must have smiled, as He looked down at us and thought about. His plan to bring us one day to an altar together… Yes, I have no doubt, that His plan was to bring our lives together to discover His journey for us forever together.

A few comments from others: (In "Writing My Jesus Story", you have encouraged your readers to explore their own life's story with Jesus using examples from God's word and your own journey. Our Christan Heritage is so important to pass down to generations to come. Whether you come from a long line of faithful followers of Christ, or you are the beginning of that journey of faith in your family. God's word encourages us to pass on that faith story to our children.) … Love Patty Pastor Ansab in Pakistan wrote: .... "Regarding the

booklet, It is amazing to read, and it is very helpful for those who will read it. Through the story, It will be a great opportunity to share about Jesus, calling and faithfulness. I think your story can be translated and printed to distribute to share the Gospel in our country and I can even add a story of mine." 63

Pastor David (Nigeria)…All thanks to God, thanks to you, and the Global Mission Team. Your material is becoming a major encouraging and training journal, the ministers love and appreciate the testimonies, study outlines in your handout. They use it to train and teach others in their churches and communities.

UMI Unity Missions Int...Doug Harmon ... “Yes, He Is” is a very timely reminder to all believers who occasionally fall into that “why me Lord” chasm. Yes, it is true that while the carnal part of each of us would like to claim that “self-made” mantra, in point of fact, none of us would likely be drawing a breath were it not for the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ (Yeshua). To those who are reading this booklet, the title really does say it all. “Yes, He Is” defines every aspect of all of the great and mighty things He is in our lives if we just say “Yes”. I would just encourage all in this way … when you hear that spiritual phone ring … answer that call, your life will never be the same!

Jesus The Way Ministries Association, Korukonda, India… Pastor Abraham and Ruth “Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” Deu 4:9 “Legacy” defined as: “something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past”. By Merriam Webster A Christian has needed to receive something from God and pass it through generations that provides spirituality and character what God says in Deuteronomy chapter 4. That is what God intended and commanded too. Most Christians never think of it what God’s intention in their lives rather Pastor Al and Pastor Helen Cambra. 64

Leaving a “legacy” is simple while “living for Jesus” is genuine. That what I observed in the Book of “Yes He Is, My Jesus Story” I definitely say, “It will inspire not only their children but all of them that read this book like me. I suggest not only read it but also digest it to follow.
