Dicha tecnología ha comenzado a emplearse en el área de la salud para reducir riesgos de accidentes en la mesa de operaciones, teniendo estadísticas que superan los 100 mil pacientes que fallecen al año debido a errores quirúrgicos. Según Moritz Schwyzer, Director Ejecutivo de Vedavi Medical, quien desarrolla un software de realidad virtual para la visualización anatómica, "la RV permite entregar a doctores y estudiantes una mejor comprensión de la plasticidad y profundidad del cuerpo".
