LETTER FROM THE DIRECTORS Dear delegates, facilitators, mentors and speakers, Welcome to the 14th annual Global Engagement Summit! Our names are Courtney Zhu and Alexis Barber, and we are absolutely thrilled and honored that you chose to be with us for the next few days. Our organization has been working tremendously hard all year to design and implement this five-day social innovation conference. We welcome each of you as a highly valued member of our community, and we cannot wait to get to know you. The mission of GES is to empower young changemakers from around the world to implement meaningful social ventures. GES is by the youth and for the youth – it serves as a platform to connect entrepreneurs who want to transform their vision of a better world into a reality. During the next five days, we encourage our delegates to be open-minded and ready to take on new challenges. The programming at the Summit is designed to provide tangible skills, tools and mentorships to improve and build upon your project, but it’s up to you to take advantage of them. GES is all about trying innovative things in order to reach new heights: dare to ask questions and suggest bold ideas. Lastly, welcome to the GES family! It’s a community like no other. The connections made here can last a lifetime. Take the time to engage in meaningful and impactful interactions with each other – you never know what you can learn from someone until you have had a conversation with them. Thank you for sharing the next few days with us, and most importantly, thank you for your continued support of our mission. With immense gratitude, Courtney Zhu and Alexis Barber Global Engagement Summit 2019 Co-Directors
