6th ANNUAL RUN FOR A CAUSE: YMCA 5K SERIES 2023

The Patchogue Family YMCA 5K Run/Walk took place on Saturday, April 1st with proceeds benefitting the YMCA Community Food Distribution Program which supports services that provide fresh, nutritious food to local families in need. It was a rainy and windy morning, but athletes lines up and laid down some fast times in tough conditions. Sergey Avramenko took the Men's win in a speedy 16:38, followed by Jason Sinert in 16:56. Elizabeth Caldwell was first overall Female and third across the line in a blazing fast 17:41! Elizabeth was followed by Victoria Robitaille who came across in 19:21. Many GLIRC members braved the harsh wind and rain to support their local YMCA, Congrats to all the finishers!

BACK This Year - 50k 4-person Team Relay!

Custom medals to all finishers of both events in both the live and virtual races (no awards for virtual racers). Top M & F OA in both the 50K and 25K live events will receive shoes courtesy of Salomon and Runner’s Edge

Top overall Non-binary runners in both 50k and 25k live events will also receive a free set of shoes.

Awards in 25k and 50k races to: 1st male, female, and non-binary

OA 1st male, female, and non-binary in the 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+ age groups.

Johnny Kenul Memorial Award:

1st finisher in the 50K who is age 60 or over.

A challenging, but FULLY SUPPORTED trail course (technical in parts) on the northern portion of the scenic Long Island Greenbelt Trail, starting and finishing at the GLIRC Clubhouse in Plainview. There are plentiful, well stocked aid stations along the entire route with hydration and nutrition options for everyone!

As always, there will be an after-party waiting for you at the finish with hot food and beverages - including beer - for your enjoyment!

The charitable beneficiaries of this event are, as in the past, HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS whose mission is to enhance the quality of life of post 9/11 service members, and the GREENBELT TRAIL CONFERENCE
