Here are the rules for the 2023 Club Championship Awards. Ed Melnik will be in charge of this important Club Program once again If you have any questions about the Awards Program, call Ed at (516) 428-3904.

1 All Club members running the Club events below are automatically entered into the Club Championship Series. There is no additional fee for being part of the Series An individual must be a member in good standing on the date of the event and must remain a member in good standing through the date of the Award presentations

2. In both male and female categories, the following awards will be presented:

*Overall Club Championship - 1st, 2nd, 3rd place

* Individual age groups (first place only): 14 and Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90 and Over

* Special Category Awards (first place only):

Clydesdale/Athena A (Male 185-199; Female 140-159)

Clydesdale/Athena B (Male 200 plus; Female 160 plus)

*Most Improved (The number of awards are TBD)

3 Winners of the Overall Club Championship Awards are not eligible for Age Group or Special Category Awards, except for Most Improved Awards. Winners of the Clydesdale and Athena awards are not eligible for Age Group Awards In order to score in a race, a participant in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions must meet the eligibility requirements for that category and must register in that category for the race

4. The following events are included in the Series:

* 1/14 - SRC 10 Mile Run To The Brewery

* 2/19 - Mardi Gras 5M Run to Great South Bay Brewery

* 3/18 - Bond Schoeneck & King - Kings Park 15K

* 4/01 - TSCLI 5K

* 4/29 - Runners Edge Aspire 10K

* 5/21 - TOBAY Beach Spring 5K

* 6/08 - Police Appreciation 5K

* 6/11 - Panoply Of Pride 10K

* 6/17 - EisnerAmper 4M

* 7/8 - Runner’s Edge LI Women’s 5K

* 7/16 - Heart & Sole 5K

*8/19- Achilles 10K

* 10/1 - Blazing Trails 4 Mile Run

* 10/14 - Oyster Bay Town Supervisor’s 5K

5 Participants may compete and score points in all of the races for which they are eligible. All races listed above will be used to compute an individual’s total points Participants are awarded points as described below Except for the Most Improved Awards, the winner is the individual with the most total points

6 For each event, the order of finish of all Club members eligible for the Overall Club Championship Awards will be determined separately for men and women, and each will be awarded points based on the order of finish.

1st -10 points 6th - 5 points

2nd - 9 points 7th - 4 points

3rd - 8 points 8th - 3 points

4th - 7 points 9th - 2 points

5th - 6 points 10th - 1 point

7. For each event, the order of finish of all Club members in each Age and Clydesdale/Athena category will be determined separately for men and women, and each will be awarded points based on the order of finish.

1st -10 points 6th - 5 points

2nd - 9 points 7th - 4 points

3rd - 8 points 8th - 3 points

4th - 7 points 9th - 2 points

5th - 6 points 10th - 1 point

8 Participants can be awarded points in only one category for a race. A participant can earn points in Age Group categories for some races and Clydesdale categories in others The race registration category will determine in which category they may earn points.

9. For purposes of Age Group awards, the age of the individual on the date of the first race in the Series in which the individual participates will determine the Age Group award that the participant is eligible to win The participant may be competing in a different Age Group at subsequent races, but will be scored in the Age Group determined by the first race in the Series for purposes of Club awards.

10 In the event of ties, head-to-head results between the tying individuals will be used If this fails to determine a winner, we will have two awards in the particular category

11 All participants are eligible for the “Most Improved” Awards Awards will be determined by who has improved the most over the course of the year One does not have to score points or be limited to the races listed in paragraph 4 to be eligible for a "Most Improved Award" ALL races, not just GLIRC races, will be factored into the decision making.
