Ben supports welcoming new residents

Local landscape photographer Ben Messina has been a supporter of the Maleny and District Welcome Dinner for several years.

This year his photograph, titled Storm over the hinterland and valued at more than $1,350, will be first prize in the raffle to be drawn at the 14th annual Maleny and Blackall Range Lions Welcome Dinner on September 18 at the Maleny Showgrounds pavilion. On the night Ben will also have a display of several other beautiful photos highlighting the hinterland.

The raffle, lucky door prizes and an auction are all part of the event, together with four guest speakers and displays from local community groups, and a lovely buffet meal prepared by The Orangery Maleny.

Newcomers who attend will learn more about the local area they now call home and the many things it has to offer. They will also take home an information bag and plants donated by Barung Landcare, which will form part of the table decoration on the night.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased from Maleny Optical, shop 8, Riverside Centre, 8 Maple Street, Maleny and MAD (Maleny Art Direct), 21 Maple Street, Maleny.

Get in early to avoid disappointment. For further information call Clarke Alexander on 5494 4981.
