Runner, Walkers, and Volunteers:
Owens Corning is pleased to sponsor the Glass City Half Marathon once again - one of the community events that Owens Corning employees most look forward to.
As a long-running sponsor, we’ve seen the event grow into one of the premier events of its kind in our community. We want all our people to be active and healthy, and we view our support of GCM as an important wellness initiative.
Over the years, Team OC has grown right along with GCM, and this past year some 202 employees, families and friends participated in the race and another 62 volunteered. Our people take great pride in the company’s presence at the event, especially being cheered on by our corporate mascot, the Pink Panther.
There’s an additional aspect of our involvement with GCM that is just as important to our people: the attention our sponsorship brings to a cause we care deeply about. One of our strategic philanthropic areas of focus is safe, affordable housing. That’s why Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity is one of our key charitable partners . We participate in GCM to raise funds and awareness to support their vital work in our community.
So GCM is a way for Owens Corning to help our people acti vely engage with their own health, with friends and colleagues, and with the community. That’s a powerful combination of great reasons to participate, and Team OC enjoys being part of the range of GCM events, from the half -marathon to the kids’ race, the 5K, the relay, and the full marathon.
Events like GCM are part of why Toledo is a great hometown. Owens Corning has been here for 8 6 years, and we’re proud to support events that strengthen our community.
Congratulations on building a great Toledo tradition

Welcome!
Thank you for taking part in the 2024 Savage 5K! It is great to be a part of an event that often serves, for many, as a start to spring.
Savage loves involvement in activities throughout the communities in which you live and work. We also enjoy (and believe strongly in) promoting a healthy lifestyle of exercise and nutrition.
The Savage 5K checks all the boxes.
The passion throughout the weekend is contagious. This is most certainly an exciting time.
Thank you to so many runners, joggers, walkers and volunteers taking part ! We appreciate your participation.
Sincerely,
J.R. Toland President and CEOWe celebrate the people who make a world of difference.
WELCOME RUNNERS
Welcome to the 47th annual Mercy Health Glass City Marathon (MHGCM). We’re excited to see the community coming together, once again, to celebrate camaraderie through running and healthy lifestyle choices. For many of us, daily runs and walks serve as a relaxing way to unwind and recharge and I’m excited to celebrate the benefits of daily exercise throughout this exciting weekend.
From the Savage 5k and the Nationwide Children’s HospitalToledo Kids Run on Saturday, to the Owens Corning Half Marathon, Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, and the Northstar BlueScope 5-Person Relay on Sunday, there is a race for every age and ability. Be sure to stop by the PNC PR Bell to take a picture and celebrate your race weekend accomplishments.
The marathon course is known for being one of the 25 fastest courses in the nation and is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Runners from all over the world travel to Toledo to take part. If you are not a resident of northwest Ohio, we hope you find our city welcoming and you take a little time to enjoy some of the fine restaurants and attractions Toledo has to offer.
PNC is proud to be the Official Bank of the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. Employees participate each year as runners and volunteers through PNC’s Commit 2 Be Fit program which is focused on boosting interest in health and wellness initiatives. We invite all runners to #RunWithPNC.
We wish you all the best as you take part in the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. Live healthy, have faith, and as always, best regards,

OFFICIAL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR GCM
FOR EVERYONE FROM BEGINNERS TO BOSTON QUALIFIERS
Dave’s Running has been getting area runners prepared to toe-the-line and finish the GCM full, half and 5k with confidence since 1973.
In 2013, long-time Toledo Roadrunners Club supporter, Dave’s Running Shop’s existing spring training program became the go-to training program for the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, Owens Corning Half Marathon and Savage 5K.
RUN LOCAL
Dave’s embodies the philosophy from its Founder and
one of the TRRC founding members, Dave Mason, to promote a lifestyle that includes walking and running, for the betterment of the community it’s called home since 1973. Dave’s, a local and family- owned business, remains a valuable part of GCM’s continuing history.
ENJOY OUR METROPARKS
First, let me congratulate Roadrunners on achieving Runner Friendly Community status. That says a lot about our region, and how Roadrunners and Metroparks Toledo are working together to make this a happier, healthier place to live.
This summer, we became a little friendlier to runners, cyclists and walkers when we opened two new bridges that are more significant than they might first appear:
In July, we opened a bridge over Main Street that is an important link in the Glass City Riverwalk project. The next major development on the riverfront will be the opening of Glass City Metropark phase 2 in June, but work has already begun on additional phases on both sides of the river. Within the Metropark, there will be three miles of trail connected via the new bridge to an existing trail in International Park. When the entire Riverwalk is completed in a few years, it will add another five miles of trial from the Veterans Glass City Skyway to the Anthony Wayne Bridge on both sides of the Maumee.
Then in August, we opened another new bridge at Swan Creek Preserve in S. Toledo. That extension of the park’s all-purpose trail takes users through a wooded area of the park that was previously inaccessible. It then connects with a City of Toledo path along Arlington Avenue, linking the park with the University of Toledo Health Science Campus and Bowsher High School. In the future, the medical campus will be connected to the Chessie Circle Trail, which intersects the University/Parks Trail on UT’s Main Campus.
Thank you to the Roadrunners for attending ribbon cuttings for both of the new bridges. Your support helps us demonstrate the value these trails have for the Toledo area.
There are more trail projects in the works, including another extension of the U/P Trail and the next phase of boardwalk replacement on the Blue Trail at Wildwood Preserve, so there will be more ribbon cuttings in the near future. As always, we will invite the Roadrunners to join us for these celebrations.

GCM CELEBRATES WOMEN RUNNERS
FOUR WOMEN RAN THE FIRST GLASS CITY MARATHON IN 1971
Fifty years ago in 1972, the running industry allowed the first woman to run in a major marathon. Prior to that, women were considered “too fragile” to run. Well, look how far we’ve come! Today, women make up nearly 50 percent of all marathon participants in the U.S. – making American female runners the highest participants in the world. Locally, the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon is also noting this memorable event by highlighting many of the women in the elite field.

WILL MY WATCH MATCH RESULTS
Our course distances are certified to length by USATF standards. Personal GPS tracking on your watch increases variance and most runners will not run true/perfect tangents to maintain the most accurate reading either. When moving around other runners, changing lanes for water stops, gel, port-ajohns, additional mileage is being accrued over the measured course. It’s not unusual to see variances in GPS distances from .2 to .5 and sometimes more, depending on the length of the race and how “on course” one stayed.
We begin tracking your time when you cross the start mat, and at split points throughout the course. Your time stops when you cross the finish mat. Be sure to cross all mats on the course to help ensure your time displays accurately and in official results.

Our mission is to be good stewards of what was here before us, so that it will be here long after our time is done.
We “Run Glass City” in honor of Sy Mah and all those here before us, and for the next generations of runners they envisioned.

OVER 1,500 VOLUNTEERS & THOUSANDS MORE SPECTATORS WILL BE SUPPORTING YOU ON RACE DAY.
WE’RE BETTER TOGETHER
It takes thousands of people, countless hours, sleepless nights and tremendous backing to create a running experience that will have participants looking forward to the next time. In Toledo, we’re lucky to be supported by many local organizations who strive to keep Toledo moving forward together. Thank you to all the sponsors of this year’s Mercy Health Glass City Marathon.
UNITED FOR RUNNERS
THANK YOU SPONSORS
An event of this size would not be possible without the tremendous support of our many sponsors, partners and vendors.
We work hard to find organizations looking to be a part of the lifestyle in more ways than simply financially. Our sponsors become immersed in the running way of life and look forward to being involved on race day. Because of this commitment by our sponsors and community partners, we’re able to provide all participants with a hometown experience that will live on forever.
EVERYONE IS SPECIAL
From our title sponsors, to in-kind service providers, media and product sponsors, each one you see listed has been a part of Mercy Health Glass City Marathon’s continuing
success for many years. Some have even been supporters since the first Glass City Marathons ever run. We thank them all. We could not do this without their continued passion.
And we cannot go without thank all of the hardworking first responders and the city leadership for working together and keeping us all safe.
SUPPORT THEM TOO
Each sponsor is active in bettering our community, so when you’re looking for someone in their field, we hope you’ll consider reaching out and supporting them too.

Not only can you follow our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter feeds during the race, you can also watch live BCSN coverage from the finish line right on your mobile device, or desktop. Bookmark our LIVE page and be sure to hashtage #RUNGLASSCITY when you post, so it shows up in the feed.
THANK YOU
The Toledo Roadrunners Club and I are happy to welcome you and your families to the Glass Capital of the world for the 47th running of the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. This year we are honored to be the RRCA Central Region Half Marathon Championship.
Our elite fields continue to pull from around the country and threaten course records every year. Last year we had six course records fall and based on seed times for this year, we expect more of the same. Not only do we attract elite athletes, but also top age groupers vie for a Boston Qualifying time. 2023 saw 28% of the field hit their marks, and we hope we can help more this year.
The marathon field had its earliest sell out ever, even with the increased capacity. Our first time marathon focus continues to be popular with over 350 participants running their first marathon with us. If you see their yellow bibs, make sure to cheer them on.
The Tom Falvey Health and Fitness Expo returns to Savage Arena at the University of Toledo with a sold out vendor space. This two day expo continues to shine with a good variety of vendors, sponsors, and non-profits filling the space.
I want to thank our staff, board members, and sponsors for the countless hours invested in making this weekend a reality. A special thanks to our medical team at Mercy Health for the hours of prep time, situational planning, and staffing on race weekend to ensure all participants, spectators, and volunteers remain safe.
I’d also like to thank our community. Toledo is an RRCA Runner Friendly Community award and it’s easy to see why. This community is well respected as runner friendly with over 300 organized fundraising runs throughout the year, well maintained Metroparks, and paved bike paths, allowing runners to enjoy a safe environment for which to exercise and be healthy.
Finally, I need to extend a huge thank you to my family. Without their support, the long hours, zoom calls, and weekend meetings would be pretty tough. The life of a race director extends well outside the normal 9-5, but I am grateful my wife is a superwoman able to manage the household, dog, and children in my absence.

April 28, 2024
On behalf of the Toledo Roadrunners Club (TRRC) and our over 1500 members, welcome to the 47 th running of the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon weekend. Whether you are running the Savage 5K or Naonwide Children’s Kid’s Race on Saturday or toeing the line for the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, Owens Corning Half Marathon or North Star BlueScope 5-Person Marathon Relay Sunday morning, I hope you have arrived to the start line healthy, ready for an excellent day and a fantas c race experience.
As last year’s RRCA Naonal Championship Race for the Marathon distance, we have worked harder to present an even beer event this year. The start for all races will now be on Bancro Street in front of the University of Toledo and will finish on the 50 yard line in the Glass Bowl. The Tom Falvey Health and Wellness Expo has moved back to Savage Arena at the University. This allows for everyone to visit the race venue and get familiar with the start and finish line areas along with knowing where parking and the post-party will be located.
Come back and visit us again.
APRIL 27, 2025 GLASSCITYMARATHON.ORG
TRRC’s Mercy Health Glass City Full Marathon has earned the reputa on of consistently being one of the top 25 Boston Marathon qualifying races, with over a third of the field earning their chance to be at the start line in Hopkinton, MA. Our Owens Corning Half Marathon is this year’s RRCA Central Region Championship race.
We connue to highlight our kids race. We are working with more local schools to promote fitness at the younger ages through our Art of The Marathon Project. Make sure to look for the young ar sts renderings while at the expo.
We want to thank Clint McCormick and his management staff for their dedica on and countless hours that go into planning for this event. We want to thank all of our sponsors, municipali es, Metroparks, TRRC members and all of our amazing volunteers, without you we would not be able to put on a safe, successful event.
On behalf of the hundreds of Toledo Roadrunners Club members running, volunteering or cheering out on the course, congratulaons to everyone who made this weekend a success.
See you in 2025!
See you on the trails,
Terri Kirtos President Toledo Roadrunners Club
