The Look of Love Fresh from its world premiere at Sundance, The Look of Love invites you to enter the plush velvet world of Paul Raymond, the notorious porn baron and property tycoon who became known as the ‘King of Soho’. Michael Winterbottom’s stylish, energetic biography follows Raymond from the opening of his first ‘gentleman’s club’ in 1958 to his astonishing rise as the owner of many clubs and top shelf magazines. Vast wealth doesn’t necessarily bring happiness as Raymond fights the hypocrisy of British sexual mores and his own tragic failings. Steve Coogan gives one of his best performances in a film that cleverly reflects its times through a changing aesthetic and a killer soundtrack.

Looking for Hortense Cherchez Hortense

Pascal Bonitzer’s elegant comedy of manners is impeccably played by an ensemble cast that includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jean-Pierre Bacri and a scene-stealing Claude Rich. Damien (Bacri) is a weary academic who specialises in Chinese civilisation. His wife Iva (Scott Thomas) is a theatre director. Their comfortable life has grown stale and dull. Then Iva asks her husband to speak to his influential father Sébastien (Rich) about pulling some strings to help a Serbian woman in danger of being deported. Damien is loathe to ask a favour and as he prevaricates, lives are plunged into crisis in this smart, witty delight.

The Lords of Salem Hard rock Boston DJ Heidi Hawthorne co-hosts a late-night radio show. One day she receives a promo record from a mysterious band called The Lords whose music is strange and sinister. It transpires the droning tune was composed during the Witch Trials to turn all the local Salem women into satanic acolytes. When she plays it on the air, Heidi spirals into drug addiction and starts having nightmare hallucinations about the demon seed. Cult director Rob Zombie returns with his darkest horror – a journey to the unfathomable depths of terror in the tradition of Rosemary’s Baby and The Devils. UK premiere.

Lore Director Cate Shortland’s long-awaited second feature is a powerful, poetic drama that views the aftermath of Hitler’s Germany through the eyes of fourteen-year-old Hannelore, played by impressive newcomer Saskia Rosendahl. As her parents face the consequences of their part in the Nazi era, Lore is left to care for her brothers and sisters. Their incredible journey across a ravaged, defeated land confronts the privileged Lore with all the brutal realities of the country her parents helped to create. A thoughtprovoking reflection on a moment in time told with a lyrical sense of landscape and heartbreaking emotion.

Love is All You Need Den skaldede Frisør

Tired of shrill, soulless Hollywood romantic comedies? Susanne Bier’s delightful Love is All You Need could restore your faith in the entire genre. Recovering from chemotherapy, Trine Dyrholm’s Ida discovers her boorish husband’s infidelity in the worst possible way. She leaves alone for their daughter’s dream wedding at a beautiful Italian villa in Sorrento. When soon to be ex-hubby joins the wedding party with his new conquest, the family’s ugly squabbles leave straitlaced widower Philip (Pierce Brosnan) wondering if his son has made the right choice. A sparkling, sun-kissed romantic charmer that will prove irresistible to anyone who believes that love can conquer all obstacles.

Love, Marilyn Fifty years after her death, Marilyn Monroe continues to beguile and bewilder. Smart, witty, gorgeous, frightened, insecure; she was nothing if not the sum of her many contradictions. Oscar-winning director Liz Garbus offers Marilyn fans something they might have thought impossible – a fresh perspective on the woman and the icon. Drawing on never previously seen personal papers, diaries and letters, Garbus invites an astonishing range of performers to enact Marilyn’s words, each of them bringing something distinctive to their interpretation. Outtakes, home movies, photos and fresh interviews all contribute to this intimate evocation of an unforgettable life.
