All bulls that are in good breeding condition at the beginning of the first breeding season are guaranteed breeders. This does not include any injury. Any bull that settles one third or more of the healthy cows he services or passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during the first six months after the sale date is considered a good breeder. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made within six months of sale date. All bulls returned must be in good and healthy condition. Any bulls given a fertility test within the first six months after the sale date will be at the buyer’s expense. All bulls are guaranteed to be breeders, however, no guarantee is given that the semen collected from a bull will freeze.

308-360-3293 Dan and Tara are from Merriman, NE, which is in the NW corner of the Nebraska Sandhills. They have been buying bulls from us for several years. They run a real good herd of Red Angus cows and through us have developed a relationship with a couple different buyers who take their steers and heifers every fall right off the cow. They get a premium for their calves as the steer buyer knows the quality and health are at the top. The heifer buyer also pays him a premium and breeds the heifers every year and in turn, sells them as bred heifers the following year. Dan knows cattle, and he will give you an honest opinion on the bulls. He is honest and does business the old fashion way, by his word.

Hoss lives in Missouri and has an impressive resume when it comes to the ranching industry. He managed a Red Angus ranch in Missouri for several years, and this is when we got to know him. He was then offered a position as the Commercial Marketing Director for the National Red Angus Association and worked there for several years, developing a great reputation across the industry, from feeders to packers, to seed stock breeders to commercial ranchers. He has since left the Red Angus office and is now a Superior Rep marketing cattle all across the U.S. This past fall we began working with Hoss, in which he marketed several groups of our customer’s calves through Superior. Clint has also built a great reputation with commercial ranchers across the country as having a great eye for bulls and for being honest. He will gladly look at the bulls and give you an honest opinion and help you buy your bulls if you can’t make it sale day.

Cheramie lives in TX and has an impressive reputation and resume. She was responsible for ranch promotions and advertising for the famous Camp Cooley Ranch in TX. She was then hired on as Cow Manager for Silver Spur Ranches, which runs on more than 400,000 acres. She now works as a consultant for Silver Spur and 6 different ranches across the country. Through Cheramie, we have purchased several different bull customers replacement heifers this fall and winter and sent them into NE to Summit Farms. They will be bred and sold as bred heifers next fall. Cheramie has a reputation for having one of the best eyes in the industry. All the heifers we have purchased for her has been a verbal agreement only and everything has been done as she said it would be. Jennifer lives in Billings, MT where she is the General Manager of the N.I.L.E. She has also earned herself quite the reputation across the industry. We first got to know Jennifer when she was Director of Communications for the National Red Angus Association. She traveled to Red Angus events, bull sales, and commercial calf sales and got to know several ranchers in both the seed stock and commercial industry. She has also been the Mountain States Circuit Director for the WPRA from 2011 to 2013. Jennifer started young in the cattle industry as her father owns Altenburg Super Baldy Simmentals and is the Associate Vice President of Beef Marketing for Genex. Needless to say, she also has a real good eye for cattle and would be more than glad to help you appraise the bulls if you can’t make it to the sale.

Patrick lives about 10 miles away from us and has grown up in the ranching industry. He and his family own a large ranch where they run commercial Angus cows. Along with ranching, his family also owns and operates a custom feedlot, and a farming operation where they raise their feed for their cows and feedlot. Patrick’s responsibility is the cow herd. Along with this, Patrick has started his own order buying business where he purchases several thousand feeder calves, replacement heifers, and seed stock throughout the year. He has done a super job buying high quality cattle and continues to gain the trust of progressive ranchers and feeders across the country. We decided to start off our 2014 annual bull sale with this good Miles Ahead son who came out under 80 lbs, and weaned off 700+. When you look at him, he is very complete from top to bottom, front to back. His dam is a first calf heifer out of LMG Gills Heavens Door 8648. With her first calf she has earned herself a 102 MPPA and this year’s calf will no doubt raise that number. He scanned great as well, as he is right at an inch of REA/cwt and has a 138 ratio for marbling. The first one is usually the sleeper of the sale, don’t let him slip by!

This powerful Vin Diesel son has it all. His dam is an awesome cow, and should be flushed, but hasn’t been yet. She is an extremely deep bodied, easy fleshing cow with an awesome udder and has a 106 MPPA. Lot 2 weaned off huge and will give you some added pay weight come sale day. He is real thick made and deep bodied. These Vin Diesel sons have been very well accepted over the years. He is now 7 years old and looks great, as he is as sound as he was as a calf. The nice thing about having these 2 year old bulls around is if a Feb or March born bull gets sick, or limps, or something else is wrong and gets behind a bit, we will just pull them from the yearlings and throw them in with the group that we hold over and make a 2 year old out of him. That is exactly what happened here, this guy had foot rot on a front leg and instead of canning him when he got behind the group, we put him in with this group and he healed up and grew up great. He is a great calving ease prospect and weaned off heavy.

Here is a powerhouse, who weaned off over 800 lbs. His dam did a super job and is a great cow. She is easy fleshing sound and has a super udder on her, while she has a 102 MPPA. The maternal grand sire is the good Gills Bond bull that Dan and Tara Hooper purchased several years ago, and we used on our heifers for a few years as well. We do this because Angus, Red or Black, naturally have good Marbling and our customers calves already grade in the 80% choice or higher area. Most of our customers don’t do much for cross breeding, as they have been breeding Red Angus to Red Angus year in and year out. So we need to make sure we have the REA size needed so our feedlot customers don’t get docked by the packer in the end. This guy has the REA size needed, as he measures 1.21 square inches of REA/cwt. The industry says at kill time they need to have at least 1 inch of REA/cwt. As you can see, bulls like this will really improve the REA size on some frailer made Angus cows.

We never have to help one calve or nurse. Our calves are shaped correct, as they come out long made, and within a couple minutes they are up sucking. The cows are wintered on saved grass and they are not fed, unless the snow gets to thick and frozen over. We stockpiled a couple hundred bales up near where they are wintered, and there are still a couple hundred bales sitting there that is now 3 years old. The only extra feed they get is year round salt and mineral, and then later in the third trimester, we put Anipro out for them (liquid protein). It is bred into these cow to know how to fend for themselves. No pampering done around here! Check this guy out, he is real classy, deep and thick. He is one of the better Diesel sons in the sale. This guy is a powerhouse, as weaned off over 800 lbs!!! He is another good Vin Diesel son who scanned great as well. His dam is a big bodied Heavens Door daughter who has a 104 MPPA. This is exactly why we used Victory on a big group of cows this past summer. We AI’d a bunch of heifers to him, then he was with 40 head of February and March calving cows, and then close to 40 head of May and June calving cows. We really like what we are seeing out of him and are hoping to get a pile of calves the next few years out of him. If we can get a big group of sons and daughters out of him that are born from 70 to 80 lbs at birth and wean off like this guy, everyone will be happy. His sons don’t really look like the typical calving ease bull either, they have more muscle than most and way more performance too. But I believe his strong point will be his heifers when they get into production. The bull never looses any weight at all, and is a favorite to most who see him.

2133 is a good Diamond Back son who also had a sore foot last winter after we weaned him. So we got him over it and put him in with the group of bulls. He grew up great and will add some power to your next calf crop.

Here is another great Victory son. We have used Victory now for a couple years on our heifers and have had great luck. They come out easy and really grow. He isn’t your typical calving ease sire. We use to push the limit on our first calf heifers, but after we have used Victory, we decided that using calving ease sires like him, we can get way more out of an easy calving bull. Lot 124 as a Calf in August
We have had a few customers ask us if we could raise a few half blood Red Angus X Simmental bulls, so we decided to try it. After several phone calls and visits with people who know a lot more about Simmental than we do, we chose the Rushmore bull from ABS. We wanted a deep sided, easy fleshing bull with natural muscle to compliment the cows we were going to use them on. We are real happy with the results. This guy looks just like a higher performing Red Angus bull. You wouldn’t have any idea he is a half-blood if we didn’t tell you. I can see where a bull like this would work on several different commercial programs where they have been breeding Red Angus to Red Angus for years. You could use a ½ blood bull like this on your purebred commercial cows and put a touch of highbred vigor into your calves and the calves would still look like a purebred Red Angus. I am excited about the possibilities with a bull like this for our customers. He is a thick made bull with loads of middle, length, and power. His dam is a great cow who is a maternal sister to Dynette 3041, and a full sister to the herd sire LMG Gills Widespread 6800. Great genetics all the way around with this guy.

Here is the first LMG Miss Dynette 3041 son out of the famous Messmer Packer S008. This guy is really good and has a lot of eye appeal, natural thickness, length, and maternal bred into him. This good bull is out of an embryo transplant daughter of the great Dynette 3041. The sire is the good calving ease Lancer bull. Check out the weights of 75 lbs at birth and 690 lbs at weaning! This calf was not registered when we made the catalog, but will be by sale day. So the weights were adjusted by us and not the association. They may not be exactly the same after the association adjusts the weaning weight to 205 day, but it will be close. The EPDs are parental averages. There may be other auctions happening the same time that Superior is hosting, so make sure you tell them the Gill Red Angus bull sale. You will need to call in before the sale to get a Gill Red Angus buyer number. If you are unable to participate live, you are encouraged to leave an absentee bid. Simply browse to the auction and the lot that you are interested in, enter your absentee bid in the box, and click submit.
