We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those involved for your ongoing and invaluable support as it is you who makes all of this possible! Thank you to our readers and to everyone who has given us the feedback we so cherish to make this magazine helpful and enjoyable for everyone. From the bottom of our hearts- we sincerely thank each and every one of you. And so in this issue we have done the ground work to answer a question we so often hear from our readers- how do the Gili Islands get fresh water? We meet with those who have seen the Gili Islands transform from remote areas that were once deemed unsuitable for tourism development because of their lack of fresh water supplies, to the popular tourism attractions they are today. The Gili Islands The three Gili Islands, composed of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air are located off the northwest coast of Lombok. In Sasak language, "gili" means "small island. " There are more than 30 Gilis around Lombok but Trawangan, Meno and Air are by far the most frequently visited. Because of their proximity to the equator, they have a tropical climate throughout the year with an average air temperature of 28C and water temperatures ranging from 26 to 29C. The rainy season runs from November to April and the dry season from May to October. The Gilis bathe in the Bali Sea, at the convergence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans and enjoy a drier micro-climate than the rest of Indonesia due in part to the fact that they are situated between two great volcanoes- Mount Rinjani on Lombok and Mount Agung on Bali. community, the inhabitants of the Gili Islands are primarily Muslim and each island has a mosque(s) emitting sounds of live prayer five times daily. Bahasa Indonesia is the national language spoken that unites all of the country’s islands but Gili locals speak Sasak Gili Air which is slightly different to Sasak Lombok. About 200 years ago, fishermen from Sulawesi of Makassar, Bugis and Mandar ethnicities arrived on the Gili Islands. They began to settle temporarily because of the abundance of fish in the sea and the presence of fresh water on Gili Air and at that time, sectioning off a bit of land with string was enough to claim it. These otherwise nomadic people began to settle in the Gilis and cultivate the land, planting peanuts, tapioca and corn whilst continuing their tradition of fishing. They sold and exchanged

their produce in the markets of Lombok and also traded portions of their land for livestock, rice and other much needed items not native to the islands. Coconut palms are indigenous to the Gilis while mango, banana and papaya trees have been introduced over the years. The first Western traveler to set foot on the Gili Islands came in 1984 to Gili Air. By the mid 1990’s Bali had gained international recognition as a travel destination and the Gilis began to be known as an off-the-beaten-track paradise escape. Today, the Gili Islands are flourishing and are attracting all types of visitors from every corner of the globe. Il y a environ 200 ans, des pêcheurs de Sulawesi, des groupes ethniques Macassar, Bugis et Mandar sont arrivés sur les îles Gilis. Ils s'y sont installés car les eaux étaient très poissonneuses et aussi pour la présence d'eau douce sur Gili Air. à cette époque, il suffisait de délimiter un terrain avec une ficelle et de le nettoyer pour se l'approprier. Ces pêcheurs nomades se sont donc sédentarisés et ont commencé à cultiver des cacahuètes, du tapioca et du maïs tout en continuant la pêche. Ils vendaient ensuite leur produits ou faisaient du troc dans les marchés de Lombok. Parfois ils échangeaient leur terre contre une

vache ou d'autres produits qu'ils ne possédaient pas aux îles Gilis, notamment le riz. Les cocotiers ont toujours été présents sur les îles, les mangues, bananes et papayes sont venues plus tard. Le premier étranger venu de l'occident est arrivé en 1984 à Gili Air et les premiers touristes, dans les années 90 lorsque Bali a acquis sa réputation mondiale ! Aujourd'hui, les îles Gilis sont de plus en plus populaires et séduisent un bon nombre de voyageurs venus de différentes horizons.

History Over time, the people of the Gili Islands have adapted to a multitude of changes and cultural immersions but have managed to maintain their cultural identity. Historically the people here have seen their days of hardship when during WWII, Lombok and the Gili Islands were occupied by Japanese forces. The islands were used to contain prisoners of war and the locals endured forced labour. A hill situated on the south of Trawangan

was used as a lookout post and today remnants of the bunker still remain. Trawangan derived it's name from the Indonesian word "terowongan" meaning "tunnels" of which a network were dug by the occupying forces. The holes have since been filled in. Hot Tip: Bear in mind that the Gili Islands are exposed to open oceans and can have incredibly strong currents running between and around them and trade winds that create choppy seas. For this reason- always check daily conditions before commencing oceanic sports and know that it is NOT recommended to swim between the islands no matter your skill level. When you hear about Gili T you probably also hear the words "party island" yeah? Thought we should just address that straight away! Gili T gained this title because it is the largest of the three northern Gili Islands with the most development, hence it offers the greatest abundance of everything- including nightlife. There are fantastic parties every night of the week that attract large crowds of people from all different walks of life and every corner of the globe. Nightly features start with a sizzling local food market and advance into live music, beach parties and DJ's. There's also the option of watching movies screened at an open air beach "theatre." The rumored growth of Trawangan from a backpacker island into something of a glam island is supported by the unveiling of new upscale boutiques, restaurants, resorts, spas, and now a heli-pad, however, it remains a hub of charm for a wide spectrum of travelers. It's an iconic island of variety with numerous options for every budget/lifestyle for eating, sleeping (backpacker dorms to luxury villas), entertainment and activities. Gili T has extraordinarily beautiful beaches and shimmering ocean waters of crystal-clear

visibility for diving and snorkeling. This island boasts some of the finest coral gardens and the widest range of dive centers with the best socializing opportunities. Although it is predominately known as a party island, Gili T has much more to it and venturing away from the densely developed east coast, you can find a plethora of vacant beaches. Renting a bicycle is a great way to see the island, bearing in mind there are some sandy patches! Seeing how life works here can be very eyeopening: it's not an escape from reality- just a slightly different one…but understandably surreal nonetheless! There are several conservation organizations based here including Gili Eco Trust (GET) and The Gili Shark Foundation- ask around (try dive centers) about how you can get involved! As you may know- there is no motorized transport in the Gilis and what a soothing break that can be! Surfing is popular off the south and it's not unwise to speak to locals about the break. For a supreme viewpoint walk up the hill on the south that was previously used as a lookout during WW II.

Bien qu'elle soit surtout connue comme une île "de fête", Gili T cache un nature dense et douce, aventurez-vous loin des côtes pour découvrir la magnifique cocoteraie ou les plages désertes de la côte ouest. N'ayant aucun transport motorisé aux îles Gilis, la location d'un vélo est un excellent moyen de découvrir l'île, et aussi une expérience aventureuse ! La vie ici est surréaliste, c'est un mélange d'exotisme et de vie occidentale ! Il existe plusieurs organisations de conservation sur Gili T comme Gili Eco Trust (GET), Gili Shark Fondation et bien d'autres... Demandez autour de vous, dans les centres de plongée comment vous impliquer ! Pour un point de vue suprême, marchez jusqu'à la colline au sud, vous y trouverez un vestige (une batterie d'artillerie) de la seconde guerre mondiale.

Free Clinic for our feline friends Des cliniques gratuites pour nos amis les chats From November 23rd to December 1st Gili Trawangan was the site of a huge effort aimed at keeping the islandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s cat population in check by spaying and neutering as many as possible. Cats of Gili coordinator, Finnish born Susanna Patari, had her hands full (literally) with help from the Bali Dog Adoption and Rehabilitation Centre in collecting the 203 cats that were operated on. Vets from Jakarta Animal Aid Network as well as Canadian volunteer vet Carmen Carter were onsite to do the job as well as handling the 50 or so cats

and kittens that were brought in to be treated for various ailments from worms to eye infections and cat flu. The clinic was hosted by Blue Marlin Dive where the cats were anesthetized and kept overnight to fully recover from their operations before they were returned to the areas where they were found. Cats of Gili is a part of the Gili Eco Trust that specializes in the treatment of the islands felines as well as horses. Cats of Gili concentrates only on cats, horses have their own support network (Gili Carriage Horse Support

Network, see on FB: https:// www.facebook.com/pages/ Gili-Carriage-Horse-SupportNetwork/180970802061296 ) and Gili Eco Trust also looks after horses, but they like to have the clinics at the same time for cats and horses both. Volunteer participation, donations and the aid of local Gili T businesses have been paramount to this charities success and in the future more clinics are planned. Susanna hopes to hold at least two per year which is contingent upon sufficient funding and as well Susanna notes, â&#x20AC;&#x153;we would like for

people to adopt these cats so they have a home.” When asked if she had a veterinary history Susanna responded with a big smile, “my background is in IT, I just really love animals!” Another clinic in January, also in Gili Air and Meno, had the support of volunteer vets from Finland and Australia, as well as support from Australia based Animal Aid Abroad (Animal Aid Abroad has donated medicines and funding for the clinic!). Susanna espère en tenir au moins deux par an, ce qui est subordonné à un financement suffisant et note : « nous aimerions que les gens adoptent ces chats afin qu'ils aient une maison. » Lorsqu'on lui a demandé si elle avait une anecdote sur son parcours vétérinaire, Susanna a répondu avec un grand sourire : "mon truc, c'est l'informatique, j'aime juste vraiment des animaux!" Une autre clinique en Janvier a eu lieu aussi à Gili Air et Meno avec le soutien de vétérinaires bénévoles venant de Finlande et d'Australie ainsi que de l'association Animal Aid Abroad (Ils ont fait un don de médicaments et d'argent pour cette clinique !). Once each year, Mandi Safar is held on the last Wednesday of the month called " Safar " in the Muslim calendar. This year was January 1st! All the inhabitants of the Gili Islands throw themselves into the water for a "session" of purification. The tradition is for each person to place on their head a mixture of coconut water previously blessed by the Imam, then head for the beach where all the people gather in family style a picnic. Also part of the tradition is for each person to dive three times in the water, passing under a branch of a Rembiga tree held up

by two people. This is a means of cleaning the body and soul for God and asking forgiveness from any evil done throughout the year as well as paying tribute to nature for all the benefits bestowed upon us. For this occasion, BKKPN (National Centre for Water Conservation) and the association RARE INDONESIA launched a campaign for the establishment of a system of zoning, ie regulation and control of marine territory around the Gili islands. This program, named "PRIDE," is to encourage fishermen to respect the defined fishing areas. RARE

uses social marketing approaches to obtain an impact on sustainable conservation. Mandi Safar was such an approach, with others being planned to lead into May of this year. Chaque année, Mandi Safar a lieu le dernier mercredi du mois appelé « Safar » dans le calendrier musulman. Cette année, c’était le 1er janvier ! Tous les habitants des îles Gili se sont jetés à l’eau pour une « séance » de purification. La tradition est de déposer sur sa tête un mélange d’eau de coco préalablement béni par l’Imam,

ensuite direction la plage où tous les habitants se sont retrouvés autour d’un pique-nique dans une ambiance familiale. Dans l’eau il faut s’immerger trois fois en passant de chaque côté d’une feuille de Rembiga ! Ainsi on nettoie son corps et son âme en demandant pardon à Dieu des maux que l’on a pu faire tout au long de l’année et en rendant hommage à la nature pour tous les bienfaits qu’elle nous a donnés. Pour cette occasion, BKKPN ( centre national de conservation de l’eau) et l’association RARE INDONESIA ont lancé une campagne pour la mise en place d’un système de zonage, c’est à dire une réglementation et un contrôle du territoire marin entourant les îles Gili. Ce programme nommé « PRIDE » consiste à encourager les pêcheurs à respecter les zones délimitées pour la pêche. RARE utilise l’approche du marketing social pour obtenir un impact sur la conservation durable. Mandi Safar fut l’un d’entre eux, d’autres interventions sont prévues jusqu’en mai 2014.

François was born in Lyon, the gourmet dining capital of France . He studied at the Hotel School Balan in Ain and traveled throughout Europe as a leader in his field in Italy , England , Scotland and Denmark, where he met his wife, who is Indonesian! His culinary experience has extended to the United States where he worked in Pittsburgh and finally back to his hometown and where he became the head chef of Pell Mell restaurant. Today he and his wife reside in Trawangan with their 10 month old daughter. And it is here that François is ensuring that Wilson's Retreat stands to become "THE" reference of French gastronomy in Gili Trawangan.

Cooking class Gurus Hadi and Pian were all smiles at having us alongside them in the kitchen. We started by making a ceremonial Indonesian desert of sticky rice, palm sugar and coconut and before we knew it we were munching away on our newly acquired treats and moving on to the next round- making peanut sauce from scratch. It wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t long before the air was filled with the sizzling aroma of spices and we were perfecting our blends for a curry dish, Gililife 40

laughing and being entertained all the way by our cheeky Gurus. The traditional and tantalizing Lombok dish of Chicken Taliwang was next on the menu and each bite of our self cooked cuisine seemed to become more and more delicious! I never knew I was such a good cook! The Gili Cooking Class was such a social and fun way to spend the afternoon learning to cook delicious local dishes. Les Professeurs (Guru) Hadi et Pian étaient tout sourire de nous avoir à leur côtés dans leur cuisine. Nous avons commencé par faire un dessert de cérémonie indonésienne constitué de riz gluant, de sucre de palme et de noix de coco. Un petit grignotage de nos nouvelles friandises et nous sommes passés à la deuxième étape, la création d’une sauce à la cacahuète. Il n’a pas fallu longtemps avant que l’air ambiant ne se remplisse d’une odeur d’arômes d’épices, nous avons continué nos mélanges culinaires avec un curry dans une ambiance décontractée et joyeuse, assistés par nos « taquins » professeurs. Juste après dans le menu, le plat traditionnel de Lombok, le poulet Taliwang, où chaque bouchée de notre propre cuisine devenait de plus en plus délicieuse ! Je ne pensais pas être une bonne cuisinière et pourtant ! J’ai eu une expérience très agréable et enrichissante aux Gili Cooking Classes, j’ai appris à cuisiner des plats locaux délicieux et rencontré des gens adorables ! There are reefs, slopes, wreck and depths on offer to visit here. There is also an abundance of wildlife including turtles, manta rays, reef sharks, morays, multiple species of colourful fish, and if you’re extremely lucky- whalesharks or the elusive mola mola! Every diver contributes a “reef tax” which is included in the cost of their first dive and goes towards the NGO Gili Eco Trust- a conservation organisation in the Gili Islands who implements projects such as coral reef restoration biorocks. Josh - Dive Instructor ➜ Lutwala Dive - Gili T <We were taking DSD’s (discover scuba divers) out to the site and the current was a bit strong which was exciting! We were drifting along, past turtles at about 10-12 metres and 20 minutes into the dive we spotted a school of about 15 Bumphead Parrot Fish. A few of them were as big as a couch! They were just a couple of feet away and we stayed with them for 15 minutes while they were eyeballing us. They are bigger than anything you expect to see and you’re just not used to hanging out with anything so big underwater- it’s like swimming with dinosaurs!> « Nous avions des plongeurs en baptême (DSD) et nous étions sur le site de Halik. Le courant était un peu fort ce qui était assez excitant ! Nous étions en train de dériver après avoir vu quelques tortues à 10-12 mètres quand, au bout de 20 minutes de plongée, nous avons repéré un banc d'environ 15 poissons perroquets à bosse ! Quelques-uns d'entre eux étaient aussi gros qu'un divan ! Ils étaient à quelques centimètres de distance et nous sommes restés avec eux pendant au moins 15 minutes alors qu'ils nous fixaient d'un oeil... Ils étaient plus grands que tout ce que vous pouvez imaginer de voir et je n'avais jamais eu l'occasion de rencontrer des perroquets à bosse aussi énormes ! DESCRIPTION They belong to the family of marine gastropods mollusks, not to be confused with the sea slug. They are known for their extraordinary colors and motifs and their characteristic forms. This animal has the distinction of having protruding gills called "buds". The word "nudibranch" comes from the Latin nudus, "naked" and the Greek brankhia, "gills." They are listed in four morphotypes where the branchial plume can be at the back, along the sides, on or under the body and have two pairs of tentacles. The first, below, is used to "feel" the ground and the other on the head, as two small horns called rhinophores, serves as a "nose." At their bases are tiny nudibranch eyes which serve only to detect light variations. Ils appartiennent à la famille des mollusques gastéropodes marins, à ne pas confondre avec la limace de mer. Ils sont connus pour leurs couleurs et leurs motifs extraordinaires ainsi que leurs formes si caractéristiques. Cet animal a la particularité d’avoir ses branchies à nu sous forme d’excroissance que l’on appelle les « papilles ». Le mot « nudibranche » vient du latin nudus, « nu » et du grec brankhia, « branchies ». Ils sont répertoriés en 4 morphotypes où le panache branchial peut se situer à l’arrière, en périphérie, sur ou sous le manteau et possèdent deux paires de tentacules. DIET - ALIMENTATION They are carnivorous and feed on different species of microorganisms, sponges, hydroids, tunicates, corals, anemones, fish or cephalopods eggs and sometimes practice cannibalism. They can store the poison they ingest to become toxic themselves and thus protect themselves from predators. Ils sont carnivores et s’alimentent selon les espèces, de micro-organismes, d’éponges, d’hydraires, de tuniciers, de coraux, d’anémones, d'oeufs de poissons ou de céphalopodes et parfois pratiquent le cannibalisme. REPRODUCTION They are hermaphrodites meaning they have both male and female reproductive systems but can not self-pollinate. In the absence of a partner, there can be parthenogenesis where the eggs develop and produce clones. Ils sont hermaphrodites, c’est à dire qu’ils possèdent à la fois un système génital mâle et femelle mais ne peuvent pas s’autoféconder. En l’absence de partenaire, il peut y avoir parthénogénèse, des œufs se développent et produisent des clones.

HABITAT Nudibranchs are generally benthic species in finding their prey. They move by crawling and when threatened, they can escape by sudden contractions of the body. To see them, take your time and examine corals, sponges and gorgonians inch by inch! Les nudibranches sont en général des espèces benthiques vivant dans les fonds, sur leurs proies. Ils se déplacent par reptation et s’ils se sentent en danger, ils peuvent s’échapper par de brusques contractions du corps. Pour les voir, prenez votre temps et examiner les coraux, éponges, gorgones, centimètre par centimètre !

Turtles guaranteed! Beautiful corals and all kinds of fish! Tortues garanties ! De beaux coraux et des poissons de toutes sortes ! Snorkeling (mask, snorkel, fins) is a good way to freely explore the waters around Gili islands! You can see turtles, all kinds of fish, bluespotted stingrays... Let yourself drift with the current, whilst being careful because sometimes it can be very strong! You can rent the equipment very easily on all three islands. Another alternative is a snorkeling trip - a day out on a boat. You leave in the morning around 9am for a full circuit of the Gilis, visiting the best snorkeling spots of the three islands. You stop for lunch and finish about 4pm. You can book this trip on site or at your hotel. Le snorkeling (masque, tuba, palmes) est un bon moyen d'explorer les fonds marins des îles Gili en toute liberté ! Vous pourrez apercevoir des tortues, toutes sortes de poissons, des raies pastenague à points bleus... Laissez-vous dériver par le courant en faisant attention car parfois il peut être très fort ! Vous pourrez louer le matériel très facilement sur les trois îles. Autre alternative, le snorkeling trip, sortie en bateau pour la journée. Vous partez le matin vers 9h pour un tour complet des Gilis, en visitant les meilleurs spots de snorkeling des trois îles. Vous vous arrêtez pour le déjeuner et rentrez vers 16h. In the beginning, water was shipped over from Lombok to Gili T in small barges and then pumped into holding tanks with piping systems running to customers. On Gili Meno, local boats carried water in small tanks and pumped them ashore to individual customers. And this method still remains today - it is the only way that Gili Meno receives fresh water and how some fresh water is still supplied to Gili Air, with some Gili T business’s bringing water in on private boats. Gili Air’s fresh water wells were once thriving but as tourism has increased- so has the strain on these wells. Au début, l'eau été expédiée de Lombok vers Gili T à l’aide de petites barges puis stockée dans des bassins de rétention d’eau et pompée par un système de tuyauterie jusqu’à utilisation. Sur Gili Meno, ce sont des bateaux locaux qui transportaient de petits réservoirs d’eau qui étaient ensuite pompés pour les clients individuels. Cette méthode perdure aujourd'hui, c'est de cette manière que Gili Meno reçoit de l'eau fraîche et parfois de cette façon qu’est alimenté Gili Air et quelques entreprises de Gili T. Kennedy, Président Américain, 1962 There are limitations to the method of supplying the islands fresh water bringing via boats. In the past the Gili Islands could go for days without fresh water because sea conditions were simply too rough for the barges to deliver and because the limited supply of water on these barges was being used at such a rate that it could not be topped up before the water ran out. These boats had a maximum capacity per trip of 10,000 litres which may sound like a lot but consider that in current high seasons - the island of Gili Trawangan alone can go through up to 800,000 litres a day! In 2008 the government attempted to address this by laying underwater pipes that would pump water from Lombok to the Gili Islands but this proved to be a feat of many variables and the pipe system was swept away by currents after two weeks. As tourism has boomed in the Gili Islands - so has the demand for a consistent method to supply the islands with large amounts of fresh water - and funnily enough - the answer to supplying this demand came from the salty sea. Avec l’essor du tourisme aux Gilis, il était donc nécessaire de trouver une solution efficace pour fournir de grandes quantités d’eau douce. La réponse au problème est curieusement venue de la mer, de l’eau salée !

Gili Trawangan innove en produisant de l’eau douce à partir de l’eau de mer ! At present,almost all Gili Trawangan’s businesses & residents are now receiving their fresh water from a plant on the north of the island that uses seawater drawn from beach wells. This water then goes through

a prefiltration and reverse osmosis process that works by forcing the water through a membrane filter at high pressure. The pores of the membrane are so miniscule (try imagining a hair strand split into 100,000 smaller strands) that they only allow the water molecules to pass through and all salts are left behind. This results in roughly 40% of the water being pumped through, emerging as fresh water, while the remaining concentrated salt water goes back into the sea. This plant operates 24 hours a day using “energy recovery devices” that significantly cut down on energy consumption for the entirety of this process known as “desalination.” In order for this water to reach its 620 customers on Gili T, there have been over 40,000 metres of underground piping laid that run through just about every street on the islands. The privately funded water plant, owned by PT Berkat Air Laut, has been in operation for 2 years and from start to finish took 6 months to install. This plant will soon incorporate rainwater catchments that will feed into the storage tanks which will ease the amount of energy needed to operate the pumps. Because this desalination system has proven to be an efficient and cost effective way (25-30% less than the cost of shipping water over) to supply fresh water for the island of Gili Trawangan, plans are currently underway to implement a similar project on Gili Meno, and it is estimated that Gili Air could

also benefit from a desalination system if its fresh water wells deteriorate further due to increasing development on the island. À l'heure actuelle, presque toutes les entreprises et les résidents de Gili Trawangan reçoivent de l’eau douce à partir d'une usine au nord de l’île qui utilise de l'eau de mer. Cette eau est dans un premier temps filtrée. Puis, par un processus d'osmose inverse, elle passe à travers

Each year along the stretches of Lombok’s Kuta Beach, a tradition takes place where by residents from all over the island come to catch (bau) sea worms called nyale- the Bau Nyale Festival. This is a sacred Sasak ceremony that honors the legend of Princess Mandalika. Princess Mandalika was said to be so beautiful that men of the village fought for her to gain her hand in marriage which created chaos amongst the village and in order to end the fighting, the princess threw herself over a cliff into the sea. When attempts were made to find her, all that was found were sea worms. The Nyale sea worms are only present in this area on time a year and locals believe these worms are the return of the princess. It is believed the nyale will bring prosperity to those who honor them and misfortune to those who do not. The sea worms are captured and cooked in a traditional style called Pepek where they are wrapped in banana leaves and grilled. This festival takes place in February/March, generally lasting two days and two nights and is a beautiful celebration that all are welcome to witness. L YA

Tap water is most often a mix of fresh and salt water, with fresh water coming from captured rain water and underground wells and is pumped into water towers for storage. Water bottles can be refilled at a number of shops/cafes around the islands- some places advertise but most don’t so don’t hesitate to ask! electricity The three Gilis each have a petrol powered electricity generating station that runs the island but when strained can cause temporary island-wide power outages. Many resorts and hotels have private generators to run during any power-outage. tortues pendant leur plongée. www.facebook.com/gilisharkfoundation TURTLE CONSERVATION Gili T and Gili Meno each have their own sea turtle conservatories where newly hatched turtles are kept in safe pools until they can grow to a larger size and are not so vulnerable to predation. They are then set free into the waters just out the front of the conservatories. Gili Air's Oceans 5 Dive Resort has special pools where sick and injured sea turtles are kept and cared for until they can be released. These conservatories and care centres run entirely on donations. Gili Meno et T ont chacun leurs propres conservatoires de tortues de mer où les tortues, nouvellement écloses sont gardées dans des bassins de sécurité jusqu'à ce qu'elles atteignent une taille assez grande qui leur permet d'être moins vulnérables aux prédateurs. Elles sont ensuite libérées dans la mer.
