Share Festival XIV, “GHOSTS,” is worldly by being otherworldly, is Turinese by being international, touches the heart of the matter by embracing the skin, is futuristic by being historical, is visible through the invisible, spoken through the unspeakable, and alive through the spirits of the dead. Technology and science were always the best weapons of Turinese patriots, while art is that which remains in the aftermath of the battlefield. Torino is the city of an Egyptian museum with its multitude of mummies and high tech tools for analysis of the remote past. The signature urban tower of Torino, the Mole Antonelliana, is a vast archive for magic lanterns and silent films. In Torino we have the Lombroso museum where the notorious scientist collected the skulls of even more notorious criminals. Torino abounds with villas, castles, palaces and factories where bats and pigeons fight with floating specters of royal ancestry. Wherever our feet touch the ground in Torino, someone else has been buried in glory. The ghosts are blind, but we see for them; they were mortal fools once, but we know their wisdom. The living will unleash the spirits of the dead. Our screens are the eyes of the invisible. They see through the holes in our living skulls, those who are no longer present here, those who persist in our minds and our flesh. Some call them ghosts, others artworks. We do not name them: we summon them. The Share Festival Ghosts are waiting for you.
