Arrivando a Punta San Vigilio nulla è certamente più appropriato dell’esortazione incisa sulla targa rinascimentale in marmo affissa sull’arco di accesso al piccolo porto che da cinque secoli dà il benvenuto ai viaggiatori e li incita a dimenticare i turbamenti della quotidianità per gioire della magia rarefatta di questo borgo lacustre. Il tempo sembra davvero essersi fermato in questa minuscola penisola sulla costa orientale del lago che racchiude il golfo della cittadina di Garda e la magnifica “Baia delle Sirene”, il cui nome evocativo rende immediatamente palpabile la suggestione di questa insenatura naturale. Scendere scortati da due file di imponenti cipressi al porticciolo sormtontato da un’antica limonaia camminando sul selciato medievale un poco consumato, sbirciare l’imponente villa nobiliare, visitare la minuscola chiesetta e la storica locanda cinquecentesca ha il sapore di una scoperta inattesa. È come rinvenire una gemma preziosa, incastonata in una costa lievemente frastagliata nel punto dove il lago comincia a restringersi, verso nord, sovrastata da terrazze in collina ricoperte da piante di agrumi e ulivi. Wenn man in Punta San Vigilio ankommt, gibt es nichts passender als die Aufforderung, die auf der Marmortafel der Renaissance eingraviert ist, die am Zugangsbogen zum kleinen Hafen angebracht ist, der seit fünf Jahrhunderten Reisende willkommen heißt und sie ermutigt, den Trubel des Alltags zu vergessen und den seltenen Zauber dieses Seedorfes zu genießen.
Time really seems to have stopped in this small peninsula on the eastern coast of Garda lake, the tip of a promontory enclosing the gulf of the town of Garda and the stunning “Mermaid Bay”, a name which immediately reveals the charming beauty of this natural cove. Stepping onto slightly time-worn cobblestone to the small port, escorted by two rows of majestic cypresses and the pillars of a very old lemon orchard, peeping at the noble villa, and visiting the little church and the XVIth century inn scent like an unexpected discovery. It’s like coming across a precious stone hidden in the coast at a point where the lake starts getting narrower, heading north, overtowered by hill-terraces covered with groves of citrus and olive trees.
Die Zeit scheint wirklich auf dieser winzigen Halbinsel an der Ostküste des Sees stehen geblieben zu sein, die den Golf der Stadt Garda und die prächtige „Baia delle Sirene“ (Nixenbucht) umschließt, deren suggestiver Name den Charme auf diese natürliche Bucht sofort spürbar macht. Der kleine Hafen, der von einem uralten Zitronenhaus überragt wird, erreicht man durch einen Abstieg begleitet von zwei Reihen imposanter Zypressen auf leicht abgenutzten mittelalterlichen Pflastersteinen. Auf den Weg dahin kann man einen Blick auf die eindrucksvolle Adelsvilla werfen, die winzige Kirche und das historische Gasthaus aus dem 16. Jahrhundert besuchen. Es ist, als hätte man ein kostbares Juwel gefunden, eingebettet in eine leicht zerklüftete Küstenlinie an der Stelle, wo sich der See nach Norden hin zu verengen beginnt, überragt von mit Zitrus- und Olivenbäumen bewachsenen Hügeln.
The way Punta San Vigilio looks today was conceived in the mid-XVIth century by the Venetian lawyer and philosopher Agostino Brenzoni, whose noble family, Counts Guarienti di Brenzone, owned the land. Punta San Vigilio, im Besitz der Familie der Grafen Guarienti di Brenzone, erlangte Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts dank des venezianischen Anwalts Agostino Brenzoni sein heutiges Aussehen.
