LEO—July 23 - August 22 Fun facts about the 5th sign of the zodiac... Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac. These folks are impossible to miss, since they love being center stage. Leos are an ambitious lot, and their strength of purpose allows them to accomplish a great deal. The great strengths of the Leo-born are their creativity, idealism and leadership. Lions don't lack for ambition, either, so they're likely to accomplish a lot -- and have fun while they're at it. Their warmth and loyalty ensures that others will enjoy the ride as well.

Grand Harbor’s Guest Bartender Project Guest Bartenders are Grand Harbor resident members who have volunteered to bartend on Tuesday evenings July through December. They each provide the ingredients for a “specialty” drink and proceeds from the sale of those drinks and the tips they make during their two-hour stint behind the bar are collected, saved and will be used during this year’s holiday season to help “adopt” a needy family in the town of Ninety Six. To date, our guest bartenders have raised close to $500 and they challenge future bartenders to meet or exceed their earnings! Please make plans to come to the Clubhouse on August 12th, 26th, September 9th, 23rd, October 7th & 21st, November 4th and 18th and December 2nd for the Final Party. Hours are from 5:30-7:30. Donations to this worthy cause are also appreciated—any bartender or server at the Clubhouse or Cabana can help make sure your cash or check gets into the collection jar. The highest tip amount collected so far is $355—can you beat it?

“I am a Raving Fan of the Grand Harbor Challenge Real Estate Group!” “

For several years I tried in vain to sell my waterfront property in Grand Harbor, SC. I contacted Susan Burch and Tom Shea seeking help and assistance. It was less than 2 months and my property was sold and a check was delivered to my home address. As an out -of-state owner, the entire sales process was easy and painless. I didn’t have to make a special trip to Greenwood to close on the property. I can’t say enough good things about the personal care that I received from Susan and Tom! Many thanks!” Ervin C., Huntersville, NC

Do you want to enjoy what’s left of the summer but maybe you have run out or are running low on the funds you allotted for summer vacations, trips and sightseeing? Have kids or grandkids in town that you want to entertain, but don’t really want to take yet another trip? Well, in Greenwood County and its towns within, stretch your budget by taking advantage of the many things to see and do in our area without “putting a strain on your bank account!” Take A Hike Trails at Ninety Six National Historical Site were listed as top local hikes as were Lake and Tower trails at nearby Parson’s Mountain. Short trails, long trails, primitive walking trails and even a 1-mile paved Historic Interpretive Trail through the Revolutionary War battle site—see www.sctrails.net for more information. Ride A Bike The Greenwood area is home to several long-abandoned railroads converted into walking/biking trails including the Ninety Six Town Trail, the West Cambridge Park and Trail and the Mill Village Heritage Trail. Mountain bikers can take advantage of a variety of excellent trails in the area too. For more information, visit www.sctrails.net. See A Play The Greenwood Community Theatre and the Abbeville Opera House are offering several upcoming shows for both kids and adults alike. Inexpensive tickets paired with a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants in either city’s downtown area make for a unique way to spend the evening. Visit www.greenwoodcommunitytheatre.com or www.the abbevilleoperahouse.com). Visit the Museum For both a fun and educational view of Greenwood’s history, The Museum and Railroad Historical Center in Uptown Greenwood or the Benjamin Mays House Museum offer glimpses into our areas past. Unique exhibits are intriguing yet inexpensive ways to entertain out of town guests—young and older alike! www.greenwoodmusuem.org See a Drive-In Movie Rapidly dwindling or virtually disappearing in most parts of the United States, Greenwood is lucky to be home to the 25 Drive In which features two screens, double features and a terrific snack bar!
