MEET LEE

I write this about halfway through Minimester. Just a few days ago, Mr. Gammill popped by my office with a look of concern on his face and asked if I knew anything about the Tulsa Fire Department being called to the campus. I had not, and we both rushed to the entrance to see what was what. Sure enough, a fire truck pulled up to the main entrance, one door opened, a student jumped out, waved goodbye to the firefighters, and walked nonchalantly into the building. The young man was doing his Minimester experience with the fire department, and they were simply dropping him off at school for his next class.

We rarely have an “ordinary” day here at Cascia. There is always something different, something remarkable happening—one of the reasons working in education is truly satisfying. But what is far more satisfying is watching (and having a significant role in) the learning and growth of our young men and women as they navigate these fast-changing years of middle school and upper school. The incredible changes which occur between 6th and 12th grades sometimes baffle and always elicit wonder. We are indeed so blessed to be a part of a community where this search, this growth can occur, nurtured by good values, surrounded by people of heart who genuinely care about the welfare of each other, and encouraged to high standards of achievement both intellectually and athletically.

Enjoy this excursion into a day in the life of a Cascia Hall student. God’s grace pervades our lives and shines forth in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. Thanks be to Him and thank you for your support and care for Cascia Hall.

Peace,

Fr. Philip C. Cook, O.S.A. Headmaster
