very summer, the Engel & Völkers Polo Cup in Mallorca is one of the big events on the island’s social calendar. This is when Christian Völkers invites guests to his finca “Son Coll” on Mallorca’s southwest coast. For three days, polo matches, agile ponies, stimulating conversation and great food all take center stage. This August the tournament took place on a smaller scale, fostering a distinctly relaxed atmosphere. On the polo field, six teams of three competed against each other. Among the players from Argentina, Columbia, Spain, Britain and Germany were polo stars such as Santos Anca, Gastón Maiquez and Bautista Bayugar. Host Christian Völkers himself took to the saddle on all three match days. In the final, the Engel & Völkers team was victorious – thanks to 12-year-old Felipe Odia, one of the biggest up-and-coming polo talents in Germany, who scored the winning goal.
