MISSION & VISION

It is the mission of Get Your Teach On to provide strategic school and classroom growth that’s uniquely you.

To redefine the perception of a teacher’s impact.

LETTER FROM HOPE & WADE KING

GYTO Community and beyond,

We are so excited and proud to share another incredible GYTO year with you. Coming off of yet another crazy school year, we first want to recognize and remind you of just how incredible you are. It’s absolutely no secret that education is facing some monumental challenges. Yet you, in whatever capacity you play in your school, continue to show up every single day. We firmly believe that this is because you know, to your core, that education can be a place that serves both students AND teachers well. So thank you. Thank you for showing up even when you questioned your effectiveness, your ability, and your patience. And know that you are making a difference every single day in the lives of your students and community.

It is also our hope that we were able to serve you in the same way that you served your students this year. Our goal, whenever you join us for a GYTO experience, is not just that you gain tools and strategies to take back to the classroom but that if you’ve lost your passion, you find it once again. The passion not just to teach but to thrive in your everyday life, whatever that might look like for you. Our biggest dream is that you leave every GYTO experience a little better than we found you - both as a teacher and a human. That you are given a little more motivation and drive to head back to your school community to be the best YOU there is. You’ve proven that you are unstoppable, that you are stronger today than yesterday, and that you were made for this very moment.

Thank you again for being here. We couldn’t do this without you. Let’s continue to change education and create the best opportunities for all students AND teachers….together and stronger.

Let’s do this,

METHODOLOGY & RESEARCH

THE GYTO MODEL

Our Get Your Teach On Leadership and Content Development team has worked to create an engaging and transformational educator professional development experience that aligns directly to the needs of schools and teachers across the country by helping educators develop consistent best instructional practices and processes from start to finish to accelerate student learning. These evidence and research-based best practices, strategies, and techniques will directly impact overall educator effectiveness and student achievement and transform instruction and student learning like never before.

Get Your Teach On sessions are intentionally selected for attendees to experience the full professional development experience. Each session is hands-on, interactive, collaborative, and allows time for teachers to take what they’ve learned and apply it to their specific grade level standards or content area. Sessions are structured to meet the needs of all learners in classrooms and model best practices for direct and immediate implementation in classrooms.

PLANNING & PREPARATION

Intentional and meaningful planning using specific grade level content standards and high quality instructional materials that address the needs of all learners and support mastery of learning goals.

THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

This ensures that each session is specific and meets the needs of those gradelevel teachers.

Our content team has paired this research with their expertise to create a simplified GYTO conference model that reflects evidence and application of research-based best instructional practices to truly transform instruction. What Teachers Are Saying

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy this conference. I was able to get so much out of it and would do another one in a heartbeat!

GYTO is one of the best conferences that I have attended in years. It was jam packed with lots of strategies to come back to my school and implement. It has already sparked lots of conversations with teachers to think about things just a little differently.

GYTO is the BEST conference I’ve ever attended. I left feeling empowered, not overwhelmed. It was evident that every minute was carefully crafted so that educators were left with an abundance of resources and new ideas... things that we could take back to our classroom and incorporate immediately, without extra hours of preparation. Attending this conference helped me to realize my ‘why’... it reminded me of my purpose... it lit a spark that I haven’t felt in a while.

I absolutely loved my time at GYTO. The overall positive vibe left me feeling inspired and surrounded by my kind of people. The aesthetic was amazing! The people were amazing...presenters, Magic Squad, and attendees. You have really created a fantastic experience…Thank you, sincerely, for all of the hard work everyone at GYTO put in to make this such an enjoyable and informative experience!

I thought it was an amazing experience for my staff and leadership. We would love to return when you come back to ATL.

Loved how all of the sessions were jam packed with useful information and strategies. Very engaging sessions! Loved the magic squad members. They truly are very magical!

What Teachers Are Saying

This conference has offered more immediately applicable ideas, strategies, and procedures than any other I have ever attended. Within the first two days of returning to my classroom, I have been able to implement new writing tasks to raise critical thinking, simplify chants, and call and responses that get students focused quickly and to incorporate a more efficient data collection method to move students in a timely manner. This conference has changed my teaching forever!

GYTO continues to serve teachers with the most relevant and current content. Each presenter is authentically passionate about their focus and ready to answer questions or provide suggestions. You cannot leave this GYTO unchanged. Thank you for providing us with the ultimate “uncommon experience” so that we can pour into our students with the same energy and passion that you have poured into us!

GYTO was the best professional development experience I’ve had! And it truly was an “experience.” All of the sessions were relevant and engaging. The presenters were so knowledgeable, creative, and energetic! It was great to be with educators from all over the country that share grade levels. Thank you!

COLLABORATION SITES

This year, the Get Your Teach On team had an incredible opportunity to join 8 of Indiana’s schools from around the state on a year-long implementation journey. Collaboratively, our team worked with each school to identify needs and create an action plan to accelerate student learning and teacher effectiveness. During our time on site, our team participated in over 250 classroom observations, worked with teachers to design model lessons, implement school-wide initiatives, and help transform learning spaces and instructional practices.

During the 2023-2024 school year, our team will begin the collaborative implementation journey again with 12 Indiana schools and districts.

School Testimonials

FLAGET ELEMENTARY, GYTOxIndiana Collaboration Site

When I first heard Flaget was selected as an Indiana Collaboration Site, I was pumped for the dynamic and energetic experience I knew we were going to have. I was impressed with the way the support we received was individualized for our school, and my teachers felt they were part of the planning process from Day 1. All coaching provided by Chris and the GYTO team was specific to our school and the challenges we were facing, even those that popped up unexpectedly throughout the year. What I didn’t expect was the deep rooted change in the climate and culture of our building. Even those who were encouraged to work outside of their comfort zone (both teachers and students) did so with a smile on their faces. My team has come together as co-workers and as friends in a way I would have never imagined would come from this experience. We have learned so much and had a ton of fun along the way! This experience has also been felt throughout our community as we have had an increase in the number of applicants for our open positions. I cannot be more grateful that we were given this opportunity by the IDOE and GYTO. The positive results are both seen and felt.

PETTIT PARK ELEMENTARY, GYTOxIndiana Collaboration Site

The Indiana Get Your Teach On Collaboration has been the most amazing blessing in a challenging year of education! Chris has given our #901ohana family a sense of energy, excitement, and so many strategies that we have implemented to build student success! We have seen growth in our practices as well as student achievement! We are looking forward to continuing implementation of what we have learned this year!

TEST INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL, GYTOxIndiana Collaboration Site

I wanted to take a moment and say thank you for your work with Test this year! We could not have done it without you! Thank you for giving me guidance, perspective, and a recharge of excitement to be in education. I look forward to moving forward! Ashley and I spent a lot of time creating new partnerships of teachers for next year and are so excited to see what the new year has to offer us. Thank you again for all you have done.

Teacher Testimonials

The impact GYTO has had on me is profound. I am an energy driven teacher and they have reignited even more energy within myself to go into my classroom and best meet the needs of my students. Not only am I specifically focused on my daily goals for myself but the students are, too.

— Teacher, Cedar Crest Intermediate School, GYTOxIndiana Collaboration Site

After 10 years it has reignited the passion to do my best. It’s easy to get caught up in the negativity and this has just renewed my soul. I feel more comfortable and confident with my daily decisions. I have more resources to reach out for and they are solid that will last, not just the current trends. This process has brought more of the personal side of me out in order to really connect with my students.

— Teacher, Flaget Elementary, GYTOxIndiana Collaboration Site

Being part of the GYTO has impacted me as a teacher by allowing me to see the importance of active engagement and school wide consistency, especially in the area of reading foundations. As an intermediate teacher, I lost sight of direct instruction of these skills and can now see how important they are to the students, even in the upper grades.

Paso Robles Engagement Lab

Hope King, Wade King, and the Get Your Teach On team recently traveled to Winifred Pifer Elementary School in Paso Robles, CA, to surprise their teachers with an all-new Engagement Lab! This was done in collaboration with Mario Lopez and Access Hollywood as a way to support a very special school.

Read their application below:

“Winifred Pifer Elementary is a TK-5 school located in Paso Robles, California. Our school has approximately 400 students and the most caring and amazing staff! We are a Title 1 school with a high percentage of both homeless and foster students. Our staff works diligently to create a safe and fun environment for all of our students. We believe in the value of building relationships with our students and families so that they know they are a true partner in their educational journey. Our teachers and staff are always willing to go the extra mile to create joyful and meaningful learning opportunities for our students. Due to so many of our students coming to us having experienced trauma, we, as a staff, consistently strive to ensure our students know they are cared for and loved at school. Many of our teachers offer after school clubs, such as drama, choir, Lego Stem, art, robotics, and more. They do this to further engage our student’s love for learning. For many, being at school is the highlight of their day. An engagement lab at our school would enable us to further develop a love of learning for our students. We want their time at school to be meaningful and exciting as they make cross-curricular connections, see real-life applications, and find joy and purpose in their learning. Thank you for taking the time to consider our school.”

Stats:

• We received more than 1,900 nominations

• Full Engagement Lab Makeover valued at over $65,000!

CHARITABLE INITIATIVES

Prevent Child Abuse America

Since 2020, we have been honored to partner with Prevent Child Abuse America through a unique tee each year. In 2019, a report from ChildWelfare.gov found that more than twothirds of all reports of child abuse and neglect came from professionals, with teachers making up the largest percentage of professionals. This statistic is one of the many reasons why GYTO chooses to do everything we can to support Prevent Child Abuse America.

• Sold more than 200 tees, with all profits being donated to PCA.

• GYTO is matching all donations, resulting in more than $6,000 being donated to PCA this year!

• Continuing our partnership by providing them with complimentary exhibit space at our upcoming National Conference, allowing teachers and leaders to learn more about their organization

HRC’s Welcoming Schools

As a part of our continued commitment to doing the work of racial and social justice, one of our core values that we have committed to as a Get Your Teach On organization is that we value ALL voices. That work and commitment includes supporting LGBTQ+ teachers and students. We also believe that taking actionable steps is one of the most important components to show that we value all voices. The GYTO Team strongly believes that we must do the work to choose EVERYONE, always. This includes choosing to protect, uplift, amplify, and support the LGBTQ+ community. This is why we partnered with the Human Rights Campaign’s Welcoming Schools for the second year in a row to raise awareness and money for their organization.
