SUPPORT STAFF Nick Jones Graduate Assistant, Offense
A four-year letterman for the Bulldogs from 2003-06, Nick Jones joined the staff as an offensive graduate assistant in June, 2010. Jones was a second team All-SEC selection at center as a senior and was elected as the permanent co-captain and offensive captain of the 2006 Bulldogs. A native of Bowdon, Ga., Jones started 32 consecutive games for the Bulldogs and was part of a senior class that compiled a 40-12 record, 3-1 bowl record, played in two SEC championship games, and won the 2005 SEC title. A graduate in Risk Management and Insurance, Jones was named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2006 and was recipient of the Leon Farmer Strength and Conditioning Award. Following his senior season he was selected to play in the Hula Bowl All-Star Game. Jones signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks in 2007 and spent two seasons on NFL rosters. Nick is married to the former Katie Hamonds.
Jonathan Batson Program Coordinator, Offense
Jonathan Batson, a native of Charlotte, N.C., was named program coordinator for the Georgia offense in May, 2011. He originally joined the Bulldogs’ staff as a student assistant in 2010 following his playing career with the Bulldogs. Batson will assist with administrative duties for the Georgia offensive unit including charting plays at all team practices. Batson lettered on the Georgia football team as a quarterback in 2009. He appeared in one game and was a member of the Bulldog scout team in 2008 and 2009. A graduate of Providence Day School in Charlotte, N.C., Batson set a school record with a 4,100 career passing yards and 41 touchdowns and led the Chargers to the state championship game in 2005. He signed with NC State out of high school before transferring to Georgia in 2007. Batson received his degree from UGA in economics in May, 2011
Mike Kelly Program Coordinator, Defense
Michael Kelly, a native of Ocala, Fla., joined the Georgia Football staff in the summer of 2011 as a program coordinator for the Bulldogs' defense. Kelly spent the past three seasons working as a defensive assistant for the coaching staff at Alabama. During that time, he helped with daily practice execution and breakdown, game day team meetings and recruiting functions and summer camps. Kelly also handled situational breakdowns such as run game and goal line during the 2009 and 2010 campaigns. Before transferring to Alabama, Kelly started 10 games at linebacker and deep snapper at Concordia University, a Division III school in Chicago, for one season in 2007. That year, he ranked second on the team with 60 tackles, including 7.0 tackles for 33 yards lost, 2.5 sacks for -18 yards and one interception which he returned for 20 yards. Kelly attended The Villages High School, where he was a three-year captain and four-year letterman for the football team. He also lettered in baseball for three years. Kelly, who is the son of Mike and Becky Kelly, received his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Alabama in 2011. His grandfather, Mikey Kelly, was an All-American defensive end for Florida in the 1950s.
Mike Macdonald Graduate Assistant, Defense
Mike Macdonald, a native of Roswell, Ga., and graduate of Centennial High School, was named a graduate assistant on defense for the University of Georgia’s coaching staff following the 2011 spring practice. Macdonald originally joined the Bulldogs as a student assistant in May of 2010. He helped coach and coordinate the offensive scout team throughout the 2010 season and also worked with outside linebackers. Macdonald’s role shifted to working with inside linebackers during the 2011 spring practice. While attending Georgia, Macdonald worked for two years for one of his former high school coaches at Centennial, Xarvia Smith, at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens. Macdonald coached linebackers and running backs for Cedar Shoals and was awarded the staff’s Coach of the Year award following his first season with the Jaguars. Before arriving at UGA, Macdonald played football and baseball at Centennial and graduated in 2006. Macdonald graduated summa cum laude from Georgia with a degree in Finance from the Terry College of Business with honors in May, 2010.

Ryan McGovern, ATC Athletic Trainer
Anish Patel, ATC, NREMT-B Athletic Trainer
Ryan McGovern, a native of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, has served as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer for football since June, 2010. McGovern is a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia (May, 2008).
Anish Patel, a native of Milledgeville, Georgia, has been a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer for football since May, 2010.
Prior to joining the UGA athletic training staff, he served two years as Head Athletic Trainer at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining the athletic training staff working with football, he served as a graduate assistant for the University of Georgia cheerleading squad.

Anish is a graduate of the University of Georgia (December, 2009), with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science (emphasis on Athletic Training).
