This marks Georgia’s 42nd NCAA appearance. The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back sweeps. Georgia took down ETSU, 4-0, in the first round before blanking the No. 25-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders in the second round to advance to the NCAA Round of 16. Trent Bryde is Georgia’s highest-ranked player in both singles and doubles. In singles, he ranks No. 15 nationally; he checks in at No. 7 in doubles alongside teammate Tyler Zink. The duo has won eight of their last 10 dual doubles matches and recorded five victories over nationally-ranked opponents. Philip Henning leads the Dawgs in singles wins with 19, including 14 victories this spring. In the latest ITA Singles Rankings, he jumped from No. 20 to No. 19. Blake Croyder enters today’s contest on a seven-match win streak in singles. He is 12-2 this season when playing at the No. 4 court. Croyder has also tallied five conference wins this season and is 3-0 against ranked opponents. Teaming up at No. 2 doubles, Croyder and Billy Rowe currently have an undefeated record (2-0) against nationally-ranked competition. Three Bulldogs - Bryde, Henning and Zink - earned All-SEC honors for the first time in their respective careers as they were all named Second Team All-SEC. Today’s match will feature a battle of the winningest coaches - Georgia’s Diaz is the winningest coach in SEC history (725 career wins), while UNC’s Paul is the winningest coach among all active ACC coaches (502). Georgia owns a 13-10 series record over UNC. The Bulldogs and Tar Heels last faced off in 2019. Georgia’s last recorded win over UNC was in 2016.
