John Bateman
program and act as a liaison between the Athletic Association and the Redcoat Band. Bateman joined the Georgia promotions office in August of 1994 and served as Assistant Director of Promotions until 1997, when he was promoted to Associate Director. Bateman is a 1991 graduate of Georgia, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As an undergraduate he served as a manager for the men’s basketball team, including the Bulldogs’ 1990 SEC championship squad. After earning a master’s in Sport Management from Georgia in 1993, Bateman worked as the championships and officiating assistant at the Southeastern Conference office in Birmingham, Ala., for a year before returning to the University. A native of Albany, Ga., Bateman is married to the former Jill Sirmans of Valdosta, Ga.

Director of Marketing John Bateman, who has been a member of the UGA Athletic Association for more than a decade, was promoted to Director of Marketing in the summer of 2006 after two years as the UGAA’s Director of Promotions. He is responsible for coordinating ticketing campaigns, venue concessions and merchandise contracts, marketing and promotional activities on georgiadogs.com, videoboard operations and will manage all gameday print operations. Emily Deitz
Director of Promotions Emily Deitz was named Director of Promotions in the summer of 2006 after one year as Associate Director of the same
office. In her currrent position, she coordinates the promotional efforts for all 21 Bulldog and Lady Bulldog athletic teams and is directly responsible for football, as well as SEC and NCAA Championships hosted by UGA. She also works with the collegiate licensing program. Deitz came to Georgia after three prior stops at major universities, working in the field of marketing. Most recently, she served as Director of Marketing of the sports teams at the University of Louisville. Prior to Louisville, Deitz spent two years at the University of Florida, where she was Assistant Director of Marketing and two years at Auburn University as Assistant Director of Marketing. A 1998 alumnus of Western Kentucky, she worked in the Western Kentucky Athletic marketing office for two years. After graduating from WKU, Deitz joined the University of Florida staff as a marketing assistant and also earned her master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences. Emily and her husband, Brian, have one daughter, Briley Paige, born in January of 2007, and they are expecting their second child soon after this guide is printed.
