Georgia Lady Bulldogs have long been prominent figures in the professional ranks, both overseas and in the U.S. All told, 34 Lady Bulldogs have gone on to earn a living playing basketball. Twenty Lady Bulldogs have gone played in the WNBA since its inception in 1997, while many more Georgia standouts have competed internationally spanning the globe from Europe to Asia to South America. In 2010, Ashley Houts and Angel Robinson became the 11th and 12th Lady Bulldogs to be chosen in the WNBA Draft in the last decade alone. Eight of those selections were firstround picks. Deanna “Tweety” Nolan is the most decorated Georgia alum in the WNBA. She was a perennial All-Star for the threetime WNBA Champion Detroit Shock and was named the MVP of the 2006 WNBA Finals. Nolan was one of three Lady Bulldogs who helped the Shock to the 2006 crown. Kedra Holland-Corn and Kara Braxton also played key roles in Detroit’s title. Kelly Miller also won a WNBA Championship with the Phoenix Mercury in 2007. The aforementioned quartet of players has combined to earn eight WNBA Championship rings. Nolan also is the most well traveled player internationally, playing in the Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Poland, Spain and Russia.
