JOHN BATEMAN
JIM BOOZ
John Bateman, who has been a member of the UGA Athletic Association for more than two decades, was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing in the summer of 2014 after eight years as the UGAA’s Director of Marketing. He is responsible for coordinating ticket sales plans, venue concessions and merchandise contracts, marketing and promotional activities on georgiadogs.com and gameday print operations. He is also the sports facilitator for men’s basketball and the liaison between the Athletic Association and the Redcoat Marching Band and all other athletic bands. Bateman joined the Georgia promotions office in 1994 and served as Assistant Director until 1997, when he was promoted to Associate Director before being named the Director in 2004. Bateman is a “double-dog” with degrees from UGA in Business Adminstration in 1991 and Sport Management in 1993. As an undergrad he served as a manager for the men’s basketball team, including the 1990 SEC Championship squad. Bateman worked as the championships and officiating assistant at the Southeastern Conference from 1993-94 A native of Albany, Ga., Bateman is married to the former Jill Sirmans of Valdosta.

Carla Williams, a four-year letterwinner at point guard for the GeorEVIN BECK gia Lady Bulldogs from 1985-89 as Carla Green, currently serves as Assistant AD Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. Development In her current position, Williams serves as administrator for UGA’s football and women’s basketball programs. She also has supervisory responsibility for academic support services, compliance, sports medicine, human resources, event management, facilities, student services and strength & conditioning. Williams was recognized in May, 2015, by the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia as the Athens Woman of Distinction. Prior to returning to Athens, Williams was an Assistant AD at Vanderbilt 2000-03 and Associate AD 2003-04, where she oversaw 11 men’s and women’s sports as well as the CHAMPS/Life Skills program. From 1997-2000, she was a graduate assistant for athletic academic support and coordinator for student-athlete development and life skills at Florida State while completing her Ph.D. in Sport Administration in 2000. CHRISTIE PURKS Assistant AD Williams received her bachelor’s in Sociology and master’s in Public Event Administration from Georgia in 1989 and 1991, respectively. She was Management then an assistant basketball from 1991-96, including two Final Four and two SEC Championship teams, before moving to adminstration. A native of LaGrange, Ga., Williams and her husband, Brian, have two daughters, Carmen (20) and Camryn (16), and a son, Joshua (11).
