NEWBAUER IU-Fort Wayne ’01
Cameron Newbauer was named an assistant coach for Lady Bulldog Basketball in June 2007 after serving as the director of basketball operations for the Georgia Men’s Basketball program for two years. Newbauer’s seemingly endless supply of energy played a major role in the Lady Bulldogs’ inking one of the nation’s topfive recruiting classes in 2008. Newbauer actually was in his second stint with the Georgia men before he came to the Lady Bulldogs. He rejoined the Bulldogs in the spring of 2005 after also serving as a graduate manager during the 2003-04 campaign. In 2004-05, Newbauer was a men’s assistant coach at Siena, where he also was director of operations from 2001-03.
“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to work with a Hall of Fame coach in an elite program that is a national championship contender,” Newbauer said when hired. “When you take a look at our facilities and the tradition at Georgia, it was a chance I had to jump at. Not only that, but I was able to stay in the Georgia Bulldog family, which was very important to me. “When I visited with Coach Landers I told him ‘If we do this, it’s all about getting that national championship.’ We’ve been on the verge, and I want to help make it happen. That’s what we’re all in this for.” Newbauer was an administrative assistant/manager for the U.S. National Team for the 2003 Junior World Cham-
