The 70s – a time when people wanted to change the world: what with oil shortages and increasing smog, everyone felt that something had to change. In California, a bunch of daring young bike fanatics began shooting down the gravel tracks of Mount Tamalpais on their pimped out cruisers. A new feeling of rebellious freedom created a strong bond – mountain biking was born! Way back then, UNIVEGA co-founder Ben Lawee had his finger on the pulse. He made UNIVEGA the first company to produce off-the-shelf mountain bikes, thus giving bikers everywhere the chance to get out there, burn energy and do their own thing.

INNOVATIVE DROPOUT: The elaborate, hollow-forged dropout is extremely light and robust.
HYDROFORMED TRIPLE-BUTTED FRAME: The aluminium tubes are placed in a closed die and a water-oil emulsion is pumped in at an internal pressure of up to 3000 bar to press the tubes into the shape of the mould. This controlled shaping means that we can achieve up to three different wall thicknesses, creating a frame that combines optimal strength and very low weight.
