George Junior Republic in Pennsylvania (GJR in PA), founded in 1909, offers a continuum of residential programs and services for atrisk male youth ages 8 to 18 and adults ages 18 and older.
GJR in PA has contracted with Cornell University to implement the Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) program, a promising research evidence-based model established by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC). The program is designed to motivate children and staff to adhere to routines, structures, and processes while minimizing the potential for interpersonal conflict.
GJR in PA is an accredited CARF International program and is designated as a Pennsylvania specialized setting facility.

CARE motivates children and staff to adhere to routines, structures, and processes while minimizing the potential for interpersonal conflict.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
ACADEMICS PROGRAMMING
Upon admission, each youth receives an initial physical health screening and routine dental, vision, and hearing assessments. Contracted providers regularly visit the campus to provide on-site services, minimizing the need for travel. Youth are encouraged to be active participants in managing their health.
NUTRITION PROGRAM
GJR in PA participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. As a participant in these programs, the organization serves nutritionally balanced meals.
THERAPY SERVICES
GJR in PA’s goal is to provide evidence-based, traumainformed care for all youth. Therapy can be expanded to include individual, family, and group services.
PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES
If deemed appropriate, youth are evaluated by GJR in PA’s board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist and seen regularly for follow-up care and medication management. Contracted psychiatric services are also available.

Across the 500-acre campus, there are multiple indoor and outdoor recreational facilities.

For over 60 years, GJR in PA has maintained an educational partnership with the Grove City Area School District Based on the recommendations of the Best Interest Determination (BID) meeting and in accordance with any Individualized Education Program (EIP). Youth have the opportunity to participate in several educational options, which include attending Grove City Area School District Neighborhood School, instruction at the Cohill Academic Center located on the GJR in PA campus, and instruction within the residential unit.
CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY
Career and technology education is available for qualified students on the GJR in PA campus. Each vocational program offers students the opportunity to test for various industry-recognized certifications.
