Roundhouse Promotional Utensils
The basis of this project was to create a promotional product for my previous placement company Roundhouse Design. As a company, Roundhouse specialises in bespoke English kitchens for an exclusive clientele with unique taste in quality and functionality. I approached Roundhouse with a brief to discuss creating products to be used within their kitchens that follow on their functionality and beautiful aesthetics. The basis of the brief was to further enhance the use of the kitchen and it’s aesthetic.
The Roundhouse logo is CNC cut onto a pre-cut piece of Corian of choice. The Corian can be set in two different ways. It can be cast into a mould with the utensil part set into it or alternatively CNC cut from a block and set together. The utensil parts have a specific structure in which holds onto corian. It could either be poured onto it for casting, or inserted into the pre-routed handle.
The non-drip feature of the utensils enables less contact between the food substances to the surface the utensil is placed on.
- Utilising Roundhouse’s experience of materials and manufacturing processes, the product could be made directly by Roundhouse themselves in their factory. - Working alongside Roundhouse’s own design and marketing team, I could gain real insight into what the company might want from a promotional item. During regular personal and phone meetings, feedback about the designs could be received and worked on.
Wired Reusable Cable tie
One of the biggest sources of revenue for bands is live performance. However, setting up and collecting cables can be a manic and destructive process. Wired is a clip based system to help performing artists quickly and effectively collect their cables in setting up of their performances. This is done through the use of phosphorescent colour coding and modular slotting in injection moulded clips.
