The article in Wikipedia supports this and adds more information, stating, “Babahoyo has a population of 150,000 inhabitants in the city centre, which is one of the largest of the region. It is one of the 10 biggest cities of the country. A large part of its population is in the urban area and in the outskirts of the city which are near the Bypass (Via E25, highway Babahoyo – Quito) that passes through all of the city from the south to the northeast. The reader now knows that there will be of urban residential zones, which include one or both of medium and high residential homogenous zone status. From the previous information, it is known that this will probably be surrounding the centre of the city, not in it. There will also be residential zones on the outskirts of the city near the mentioned highway (figure 6.25).

Wikipedia goes on to say, “The centre of the city begins at Malecón 9 de Octubre, and includes the roads Juan x Marcos Isaías Chopitea and ends at Primero de Mayo. This is the centre for commerce and public administration. The centre has all infrastructure services and a large part of the community centres of the city; the buildings of this sector are built with strong, modern materials”. The centre of the urban area will be commercial, government and public use zones (figure 6.26).
