panel node data extraction GT worked with the engineers and fabricators to create a naming convention to manage the large number of panels that needed to be fabricated, tracked, and installed. Using the natural grid created by the primary steel as a guide, an alphanumeric name was generated from the location of each panel node in relation to the primary steel elements. There were 28 columns around the perimeter of the building and 7 horizontal rings and depending on the X,Y,Z coordinate of the node the zone prefix would be a number between 1-28 and a letter from A-G [see page 26 fig. 1-3] followed by the unique ID of the node. The suffix of the final panel name is represented by the family type and panel finish [see page 27 fig. 4]. Geometrica required the name of each node and its X,Y,Z coordinate to start designing and engineering the secondary facade. The necessary data was extracted from the design model [1-3]. Extra nodes were included above and below the limits of the facade to allow the structure to be trimmed [4&5].
