DBS and Pointer staff down tools over failure of Govt to pay FG approved allowance Oke Onecha

ctivities at the Delta State Broadcasting Service (DBS) in Asaba and Warri, as well as the State owned Pointer newspaper have been paralyzed following the failure of the State Government to pay the workers the weigh-in allowance approved by the Federal Government since 2012. The shutting down of DBS stations in Asaba and Warri came a few days after staff of the stateowned Pointer Newspaper also down tools to protest the failure of the State Government to pay their overtime allowance package. The national body of Radio, Television, Theater and Art Workers Union of

Nigeria (RATTAWU) had, in a statement signed by its Assistant General Secretary, Aishatu Isah Dammisah, directed all states of the federation where the governors were yet to implement the Weigh-in allowance to go on indefinite strike after the body had suspended its three days national strike. It was learnt that both RATTAWU and NUJ Delta Broadcasting Service chapters which also joined in the industrial action had approached the state government on several occasions over the vexed issue but the state government had continually failed in its response.

According to Obodi, the sensitization which they started with the departmental store, shops, and tomatoes sellers even in the Sapele main market and others including, Gana Market, Amukpe Market and Okurighwre Market has started yielding positive result. Obodi said, SEEFOR had also started street to street campaigns on proper refuse disposal, but hinted here that though Sapele people are stubborn, conscious effort is being made to ensure understanding and compliance of the people as change is not easily come by. He commended the Delta S t a t e G o v e r n o r, D r. Emmanuel Uduaghan for keying into the SEEFOR programme and for always supporting projects from international body.

Forum Celebrates End Of Year Party In Style Spence Friday Idighri t was the gathering of who is who in Urhobo land especially in Idjerhe kingdom as sons and daughters of the kingdom gathered recently to celebrate the end of year party of a foremost Idjerhe organization, the Jesse Elite Forum (JEF). t was joy without bound as Kokori residents jubilated over the killing of 4 kidnappers, described as notorious in the community, just as two deadly robbers were also killed in Abraka, both in Ethiope East LGA of Delta State. The four kidnappers among whom were the popular Skiboy and Olokpa were said to be ring leaders and major terrorists in Kokori community, but that one of them is still at large.
