To an Innovative 2025!
BY BILL HUNT, CEO
Happy New Year to all members and friends of GBU!
As we welcome another year, I hope you enjoyed a holiday season filled with joy and good health. With the dawn of 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on
GBU’s recent journey and share our enthusiasm about the opportunities to serve you and future generations as GBU enters its 133rd year. Over the last few years, everyone at GBU has focused on modernizing and strengthening an already solid infrastructure while maintaining rigorous compliance standards. From rebranding our organization to introducing a comprehensive suite of innovative fixed annuity and life insurance products and integrating advanced technologies, our efforts have positioned GBU for sustainable, strengthening growth.
Since 2018, GBU has increased its assets under management from $2.8 billion to $4.5 billion, elevating us to the fifth-largest fraternal benefit society in the United States. During this time, we have maintained a strong solvency ratio by growing GBU’s capital base, or surplus, from $208 million to $310 million.
GBU’s governance protocols have been enhanced with the implementation of a direct election process of the Society’s Board of Directors by eligible members as well as a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management program.
Our membership has also flourished, growing from 61,500 in 2018 to 74,185 members. This expansion of GBU’s community comes during a time when most fraternal organizations are losing membership. Robust sales and marketing efforts along with multiple successful mergers have contributed to this expansion of GBU’s community reach as we have welcomed members of the Independent Order of Vikings, Baptist Life Association and the North American Swiss Alliance.
We have also redefined community engagement at GBU, enhancing district involvement while introducing new ways for GBU members to engage within their communities through the development of the regional concept and neighborhoods. We have introduced valuable member benefits, such as SAGE Tuition Rewards, Optimity, LawAssure and our newest addition, Empathy. Meanwhile, the GBU Foundation has been revitalized to extend beyond scholarships, incorporating fundraising efforts and awarding community grants.
Our team has worked diligently over the past few years to modernize GBU’s technological and operational capabilities. Technology has enabled us to offer a completely digitized experience
(when desired) for our agents and members by streamlining application and underwriting processes and simplifying everyday tasks like updating addresses. It has also allowed us to come together fraternally through virtual fitness classes, children’s activities, webinars and podcasts. We have only scratched the surface! Our focus remains on adopting new technologies to enhance your experience with GBU while preserving the personalized, friendly service you’ve come to expect.
As we embark upon a new year, I want to express my gratitude for your trust and membership. At GBU, we are dedicated to safeguarding your future and providing peace of mind through our life insurance and fixed annuity solutions. In 2025, we will continue developing innovative products, an enriched customer experience and enhanced benefits to meet your evolving needs and support your financial goals. Together, let us embrace the opportunities of 2025 with confidence and a renewed sense of service to our communities. Thank you for being an essential part of GBU’s journey. We look forward to a prosperous and fulfilling year ahead.
All the best,
William Hunt, CEO

WINTER BLUES
GET OUTDOORS
Simply gazing out your bedroom window can make it harder to fight off the blues–instead, go outside! Taking a brisk walk can provide a dose of mood-boosting vitamin D. So, grab your boots and a pair of sunglasses and get outside!
VOLUNTEER FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY
There are many ways you can get involved during the winter months. Consider volunteering at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. If you love animals, you might consider volunteering your time at a pet rescue. Volunteering is a great way to boost your mental health during the winter.

It's much harder to crawl into a winter blues cave if you have an accountability partner. When selecting your workout partner, make sure he or she has similar fitness goals. It’s helpful to know that your partner will motivate you when you need it.
MAINTAIN SOCIAL CONNECTIONS
Getting social just might be the right prescription to lift your mood. Call a friend and catch a movie or plan an evening of fun with a competitive game of bowling for some action and laughs.
PRIORITIZE SELF-CARE
Take the time to focus on activities that nourish your mind and body. Getting a massage, practicing meditation or escaping into the world of literature are ways to create regular moments of relaxation and rejuvenation.

JUST FOR KIDS
COLORFUL COLORFUL COFFEE FILTER COFFEE FILTER
SNOWFLAKES SNOWFLAKES
Winter brings a chill to the air, but it also invites opportunities for cozy, creative activities indoors. One such craft that’s perfect for all ages is making colorful coffee filter snowflakes!
This easy and fun craft requires a few household items, and the process is simple enough for kids to take the lead while adults guide the way.
Materials Needed
Washable markers (for coloring)
Paper coffee filters (standard size)
A cup of water
A teaspoon
Transparent tape
Hole punch and string (optional for hanging)
How to Make Colorful Coffee Filter Snowflakes
2.
1. Color the coffee filter. Start coloring or drawing fun designs on the coffee filter. You can get creative with this step, using bright colors or even making patterns like spirals, stripes or polka dots. The more color, the more vibrant your snowflakes will be!
Flatten the coffee filter. Start by laying a paper coffee filter on a flat surface. Gently press it down so that it lies smooth—this will give you the perfect base for decorating.
Blend the colors with water. Now it's time to add some magic. Carefully drip some water onto the decorated coffee filter. Be gentle—your goal is to let the water blend the marker colors together but not drench the filter. You’ll see the colors start to merge, creating beautiful, tie-dye-like effects.
3. Let it dry. Let your coffee filter dry completely. The colors will continue to blend and deepen, so you'll end up with a unique, multi-colored design.
4. Fold and cut the coffee filter. Once dry, fold it in half, then in half again, until you have a small triangular shape that resembles a slice of pizza. Then, cut out small shapes or patterns along the edges of your folded coffee filter. You can create any design you like—triangles, curves or even small holes. Unfold the coffee filter carefully and voilà! You’ve created a beautiful, colorful snowflake.
6.
5. Display your snowflakes. To show off your colorful creations, tape them to windows so the sunlight can make the colors pop. You can also punch a small hole at the top of the filter and add a piece of string. Hang them from the ceiling or around your windows for a lovely winter display.
Whether you’re looking to brighten up a cold winter day or add some seasonal flair to your space, these coffee filter snowflakes are a delightful addition to any room.

Greetings from District 510. We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season with family and friends. We wish you all good luck, health and happiness in 2025.
On July 21, 2024, we met for our Annual District 510 Member Picnic at Tom and Marilyn Riedeman’s Farm. There was a wonderful selection of fabulous foods as everyone brought a dish to share and GBU furnished the meats and drinks. Special thanks to Taylor Wolfram , our GBU 510 Princess, for organizing the serving table. We also held a short meeting, primarily to discuss the August 10, 2024, Bus Trip and the GAF “Feed the Workers” event—many thanks to Tom and Marilyn for their gracious hospitality.
On August 10, 2024, District 510 Members and guests traveled to Genitti’s Italian Dinner Theater in Northville, Michigan. Members and guests enjoyed snacks and beverages on the
chartered bus, toured the Whole Hearted Winery in Hudson, Michigan, browsed numerous shops in Northville, then had a seven-course Italian dinner at Genitti’s while enjoying an interactive murder mystery play.

District 630 — Ann Arbor, Michigan
Dear members of District 630,
I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!
With the new year comes new beginnings. As you know, we had to make the difficult decision to close GBU District 630. However, I am reminded of the quote “When one door closes, another opens.” I encourage you all to continue to participate in national GBU Home Office-sponsored activities and functions, and attend fellow nearby GBU district events. If you have an idea or would like to continue as a small group, please reach out to myself or Laqueeta Coleman, the Great Lakes District Engagement Specialist at laqueeta.coleman@gbu.org
GBU District 630 members can be proud of the work we have done and the deep friendships we have made. Continue to foster those friendships. I am happy to share that the remaining funds of District 630 were donated as follows and made a final impact on many organizations in the community that we have always supported and are very dear to us:
Hans Rauer, Dwayne (PNC), Laqueeta Coleman, Susan Weber and Traudel Kummer

The district and its members closed out 2024 with a bang! At our district meeting in September, GBU’s own Laqueeta Coleman spoke on wellness. Her talk was very informative and covered a variety of topics, such as creating realistic fitness habits, finding movement that you enjoy, daily goal setting, rest and recovery and being flexible about unpredictable life happenings. A healthy dinner was served and enjoyed by all members in attendance.

District 699 — Frankenmuth, Michigan, Continued fraternalism in and around the Frankenmuth area. Here is a list of our 2024 accomplishments.
GBU 699 supported the WinterLauf on February 3, 2024, a winter running event that raises funds for various charities. In addition to volunteering, we will continue our involvement in 2025 and provide a sponsorship to help promote the district through advertising.
On February 18, 2024, GBU 699 hosted a successful indoor puttputt golf and pizza event with 30 participants of all ages. The event was a fun way to bring the community together for a day of recreation and bonding.
During our May meeting, Mustard Seed shared its mission of helping homeless individuals become self-sufficient through training. GBU 699 made an initial donation and has continued to support them with quarterly donations.
As part of the Join Hands Across America event in May, GBU 699 volunteered to clean up a park in downtown Saginaw. The team removed broken bottles, weeds and fishing lines, leaving the park much more inviting for the community.
We focused on supporting the Frankenmuth Fire Department in 2024, through multiple donations. This support highlights the district’s commitment to local heroes.
We donated both time and money to the One Week One Street event, which renovates streets in downtown Saginaw with housing and landscaping in disrepair. The organization works with residents to make repairs and the community benefits from ongoing upkeep and support.
GBU 699 had a booth at the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival, participating in a Vintage VW show to ensure good traffic. Laqueeta Coleman managed the booth, giving away all the swag and talking about GBU with many people. The event was a success, and we plan to participate again this year.
We supported the Saginaw Commission on Aging with a donation. This organization has helped the elderly since 1973 by providing services that help them live independently at home.
GBU 699 was proud to support the Michigan Heroes Museum
in Frankenmuth. This museum honors those who served in foreign wars. It features over 900 exhibits dedicated to Michigan soldiers, marines, sailors, airmen and astronauts, sharing their stories of sacrifice and service.
We partnered with the Frankenmuth Morning Rotary to donate time and labor at the Frankenmuth Auto Festival. Members helped run food booths, manage the beer tent and assist with takedown, all while spreading awareness of GBU.
GBU 699 members volunteered at the Volkslauf in Frankenmuth, handling registration and post-event clean-up. Additionally, we participated in the Frankenmuth ‘80s Festival, helping with event duties and clean-up.
Last but not least, we hosted a Trunk-or-Treat event at Dixie Motor Speedway, where we handed out candy and GBU swag to thousands of children from across mid-Michigan. Another Trunk-or-Treat event is planned at Hoyt Nursing Home to continue this fun community outreach.
We will end the year with our Holiday Party at Zehnder's of Frankenmuth on the first Saturday in February 2025.
Monthly Meetings
As you can see, GBU 699 is a busy group! We hope to promote fraternalism as well as GBU.

Shortly after that, the DASV Oktoberfest was a HUGE success. Thanks again to the Home Office for supporting the sponsorship request, as it allowed us to keep things running smoothly.
We held our election of officers for 2025 and welcomed a few new faces to the board.
We’re looking forward to a productive year. Please stay tuned for upcoming GBU-related events and some new charities for our fraternal donations.

District 707 — Grand Rapids, Michigan
District 707 was busy in summer and fall of 2024!
On July 13, 2024, we had a Murder Mystery Train Ride from the Coopersville train depot. We had a great time enjoying a train ride on which many of us had not been in a long time! We were served beverages and snacks during the ride.
Murder Mystery Train Ride
Upon returning to Sixth Street Hall, we enjoyed a burrito dinner and played some bingo afterward. A fun-filled day.
At our meeting, we had a speaker from the West Michigan Genealogy Society, which helps teach others genealogy, family history and preserve records. We have chosen it as our quarterly donation recipient.
In August, we had Duane as a speaker from the American Legion Wilwin Lodge at Cygnet Cove in Custer, Michigan. The lodge has a fundraiser for its project called “Bunkhouse,” which will provide a place to stay when visiting to help with projects, clean-ups and Open House benefits. Wilwin Lodge is a veterans’ retreat that provides therapeutic and recreational activities designed to support recovery from PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. The tranquil environment is the perfect backdrop for a journey to wellness.
On September 15, 2024, our Oktoberfest dinner/dance was held at Sixth Street Hall.
Oktoberfest
We had a great band— Denny Gramza—to enjoy. Everyone was asked to bring a wrapped new or slightly used gift to auction off. Nancy Borek , our auctioneer and her assistant, Garrett Purron , entertained us during the auction. They sure put a lot of fun into the fundraiser! The fundraiser raised a nice check for the Wilwin Lodge, along with our 50/50’s and donations.
In September, we had Whitney and Colin as speakers to tell us about Special Days Camp. This helps kids with cancer to camp with their siblings. Founded in 1978, the camp has medical staff
on-site during the camp for all their needs. It teaches kids life lessons to be the best people they can be, focusing on the fact that kids need to be kids!

Greetings!
Our busy summer started with the Day at the Zoo on June 29, 2024, which was organized by our dedicated GBU representatives Mary, Karen and Laqueeta . All of us who attended the event were very pleased! It was a beautiful day to meet with other districts and enjoy the animals.
Our annual GBU picnic was held on July 14, 2024, which also happened to be President Edith Kuplent ’s birthday! It was a beautiful sunny day at the grounds of St. Peter’s German Church, with food, games and singing.
On July 19, 2024, we had a Pizza Night, with entertainment, board games, card games and a cornhole tournament! Burkhard Kniep encouraged all of us to play at each of the three cornhole stations and kept score as the teams battled it out to the finish. It was quite an exciting time for all who participated!
The DASV had their Schützenfest on July 29, 2024, and we (our GBU group) appreciated seeing Laqueeta and her two daughters
there, with a nice display table of GBU brochures and products. I invited her to do the same for us at our GBU District Anniversary on November 4, 2024. It was a beautiful day with music and fun!
The annual Deutsche Tag celebration was on August 11, 2024. Entertainment was provided by the Michigan Singers Society, which included the GBU Choir, singing the national anthems of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the USA, along with two wellliked folk songs. The Carpathia Youth Group also performed a few dances.
Our Fall Fest on September 20, 2024, offered GACC members appreciation with gratitude given to all for the hard work and dedication offered by so many. The catered food was enjoyed by all who attended. We naturally enjoy keeping our goals of preserving the culture and traditions of our ethnicity going.
Celebrating GACC members with gratitude for their hard work
We practiced hard for the GBU Saxonia Rheingold Concert on November 3, 2024. It was a pleasant Sunday afternoon with coffee, tea and cake, accompanied by a variety of German and English songs.
On October 6, 2024, we celebrated German American Day at the GACC hall honoring Heidi Wolff, our German American of the Year. We had a full house of guests who enjoyed the excellent variety of food that was beautifully displayed.
German American Day
After dinner, we had many delectable choices of desserts to enjoy as well! Accordion entertainment was provided by Helmut The flags of GACC and our 11 affiliated clubs were displayed along the wall. The Carpathia Kindergruppe performed a couple of dances for us to enjoy.
The Michigan Singing Society sang the German and American National Anthems, followed by two folk songs.

39th Annual Concordia Food-A-Thon: This was Richard Hallgren’s favorite charity and fundraiser of the year. He loved driving down to the seminary and getting to talk with the staff, students and future pastors there. Rose Penzien has continued the tradition, and it is something that the seminary students also look forward to. They are so appreciative of the donations and the support that our district provides them. You should have received a flier in the mail with a return envelope. GBU will be matching up to $5,000 in donations sent in by our members.
District 1000 awarded $500 scholarships to three deserving college students to assist them in their college journey. The recipients were Emily Drost (Wayne State University), Capri Kloha (Saginaw Valley State University) and Christopher Kloha (Michigan Technological University). Congratulations on your scholarship award!

LFA #57 Annual Chili Cook-Off: On Monday, February 3, 2025, we will have our annual Chili Cook-off. Longtime member Joanne Gerds was last year’s winner. This year members will bring in their chili recipe to see if they can topple the reigning champion. Right after our membership meeting the tasting will begin. Will the winning chili be an old family recipe, a tried-and-true cook's favorite or a brand-new concoction that was just made up for this competition? The judges will be tasting and voting but every member gets to pick a winner too. The only way you will know who won the popular vote and the judge’s vote is if you join us on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 6:30 PM. Come enjoy a bowl of hot chili on a cold February night with your LFA #57 family.
LFA Chili Cook-Off
LFA #57 Super Bowl Watch Party: On Sunday, February 9, 2025, LFA #57 will host a Super Bowl Watch Party. Everyone loves the Super Bowl and we here at the LFA #57 will love it even more if Detroit is in it. At the time of publication submission, we were leading the NFC North with a 6-1 record and had a good chance of making the playoffs. No matter who is in the Super Bowl, a good time will be had by everyone in attendance. Good food, drinks and opportunities to win at raffles and squares payouts at each quarter will keep the evening exciting.
LFA #57 March Madness Contest: No, you don’t have to fill out a bracket or know anything about basketball to enter our contest.
The excitement will build right up to Monday, April 7, 2025, at our March Madness Party on the night of the finals game. Text or call 248-632-3313 for more information on how to enter. Don’t miss out on your chance to win big and have some fun!

District 3000 — Hungarian Reformed Federation of America (HRFA)
Meet Timea Szep, District 3000 Treasurer and 2nd Vice President
Timea Szep in Transylvania
Timea Szep’s journey with HRFA began in 2006 when she first accepted the role of Cultural Correspondent. Through this position, she shared news of Hungarian cultural events and traditions that she either organized or participated in. Over the years, Timea’s involvement with District 3000 has grown and today, she serves as

the 2nd Vice President and Treasurer of the district. Her commitment to the district, its mission, combined with her collaborative spirit, makes her an invaluable district officer.
In a recent conversation, Timea shared her reflections on her family’s experience with GBU membership, which spans over 17 years. She fondly remembers the many cultural programs supported by District 3000 that her family has enjoyed. "We have so many nice memories from all the cultural programs that District 3000 has supported throughout the years," she says.
“Cultural programs are of special interest to me. As the Hungarian Cultural Program Director at Bethlen Communities in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, I learned a lot. I used to organize the Farsang Carnival, Hungarian Dance performances at Bethlen’s Hungarian picnic, Easter Egg Decorating classes, St. Nicholas Day celebration, Hungarian Revolution Commemoration and the Hungarian Photo Art Expo. One year, my husband and I had volunteered at the Smithsonian Festival in Washington, D.C. when one of the featured countries was Hungary. We also volunteered at the Hungarian Festival in Toledo, where we helped with the GBU table and handed out information about insurance, annuities, scholarships and social programs.”
Timea also highlights how these events have had an impact on her children, saying, “These events were significant in my children’s lives because they got to learn and experience a few of our Hungarian traditions. They learned important lessons also shared by GBU, including learning to help others and giving back to our community.”
Timea continued, “There are so many benefits of being part of the GBU family- knowing that the organization values our heritage and culture. It is a reassuring feeling as a Hungarian immigrant in America that GBU and America are so welcoming to all nations. The most rewarding and joyful experience with GBU for us was the opportunity to organize Hungarian events, keep the traditions alive and educate my children and the rest of our community about our beautiful culture.”
Reflecting on her personal growth within GBU, Timea appreciates others for their guidance and support. "I was initially introduced to the organization by the belated Rev. Imre Bertalan before the merger of HRFA and GBU in 2011," she recalls. " Rev. Bertalan encouraged me to get involved with HRFA (GBU District 3000) while I was working at the Hungarian Cultural Center at Bethlen Communities. He and Rev. Leslie Martin, along with the current leadership, have been instrumental in my development as a leader."
She also acknowledges the ongoing support she receives from fellow district officers. "Current District 3000 President Jonathan Naser and Fraternal Secretary Dr. Melissa Pepin are encouraging and great collaborators," she shares. "And Mary Koczan from the Home Office has always been so helpful and supportive, guiding me through my roles, whether as The Reporter correspondent or now as Treasurer."
Timea expressed her appreciation for GBU’s support of Hungarian communities. "I would like to thank GBU for supporting the Hungarian communities and for appreciating our work. It is very important to keep our culture alive, but it would be harder without the support GBU has to offer."
Thank you, Timea Szep, for your dedication and support and your willingness to serve as an officer of District 3000-HRFA. We wish you all the best as you continue your service to our GBU District 3000 members.
- Rev. Leslie E. Martin, Past President

Teaming up with the American Heart Association to Train Life-Saving Heroes
“In order to save more lives, we must increase the number of people who respond to cardiac arrest by calling 911, delivering high-quality CPR and getting and using an AED as soon as it is available.”
-Leeanna McKibben, Board Chairperson for the American Heart Association, Greater Pittsburgh
According to research, seven in ten Americans feel powerless when faced with a cardiac emergency. As a result, less than half of those who need cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) receive it from bystanders before professional help arrives. Immediate CPR can double or even triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.
To address this, the American Heart Association and GBU Life are collaborating to increase access to CPR training. The goal is to empower bystanders to become lifesavers by offering hands-only CPR training and educational resources in some of Pittsburgh’s most under-resourced neighborhoods. This initiative aims to close gaps in bystander CPR rates and save more lives from sudden cardiac arrest.
With support from GBU Life, a mobile Hands-Only CPR Kiosk will be placed at The Kingsley Association in Pittsburgh’s East End. Over the next three years, the kiosk will rotate to different locations annually, training people in Hands-Only CPR. The Kingsley Association will be the first
community organization to host the kiosk. “We are thrilled to partner with the American Heart Association to bring the first-of-its-kind mobile hands-only CPR kiosk to the Kingsley Center in Pittsburgh,” said Lesley Mann, Chief Marketing Officer at GBU Life. “This innovative program will empower our community with life-saving skills, making it easier for everyone to learn hands-only CPR quickly and effectively. By providing this accessible and essential training tool, we are enhancing community health and safety and encouraging everyone to be prepared to be able to save a life!”
More than 350,0000 people experience cardiac arrests outside of a hospital each year in the United States, including 23,000 children. Unfortunately, 90% of the people who have a cardiac event outside of a hospital do not survive. CPR is a critical skill that kids as young as 9 years old can learn. According to recent studies, Black adults and other historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups are less likely to receive bystander CPR. Additionally, women are 22% less likely than men to receive CPR and survive a cardiac arrest due to fear and other factors,
including a lack of knowledge.
“In order to save more lives, we must increase the number of people who respond to cardiac arrest by calling 911, delivering high-quality CPR and getting and using an AED as soon as it is available, said Leeanna McKibben, Board Chairperson for the American Heart Association Greater Pittsburgh. “We are pleased to have GBU Life and the Kingsley Association join us on this mission to build a nation of lifesavers. We need more companies to commit to making CPR awareness and education a permanent fixture in all communities across our region.
Hands-Only CPR is chest compression-only CPR. Science has shown that following a witnessed cardiac arrest of a teen or an adult, compression-only CPR can be equally effective in the first few minutes of emergency response. If a teen or an adult suddenly collapses, witnesses should immediately call emergency services and begin chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 beats per minute and a depth of at least two inches.
The American Heart Association encourages everyone, regardless of where they live, to take 90 seconds now to learn how to save a life at www.international.heart.org/en/hands-onlycpr
FRATERNAL ADVENTURES
Autumn and the holiday season that follows are always great times of giving at the GBU Home Office.
This fall, we showed support for one of our Community Grant Award winners, the Allegheny Community Library, at its annual “Fall for Your Library” fundraiser. Teams from GBU participated in Making Strides Against Cancer walks in Pittsburgh, PA, and Ann Arbor, MI.
In October, Jennifer Stockdale, GBU’s Director of Communications and Community Development, was elected as president of the New Jersey-New York Fraternal Alliance.
Lesley Mann, Chief Marketing Officer, was elected second vicepresident of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Alliance. Joining her on the board are GBU Communities Leader Mary Koczan and Charitable Giving Specialist Ken Elliott.
For every third down stop during the season, GBU donated $100 to the American Cancer Society, for a total of $15,000.
IGBU’s new Chief Operating Officer, Wil Lombardi, accepted the game ball and presented the Student Athlete Community Service Award at the GBU-sponsored military appreciation game on November 9.
GBU was honored to have an opportunity to speak about our partnerships with both The Challenge Program and Ronald McDonald House Charities at their annual events.
GBU was honored with a Luminary Award from long-time community partner Cancer Bridges during its annual Light Up Gala.
In honor of Veterans Day, GBU employees gathered at the Home Office for a special Veterans Day program with GBU Chief Operating Officer and United States Marine Corps veteran Wil Lombardi.
Major General Jason Kamiya and U.S. Army Reserve Officer and Battalion Commander Lisa Jaster, PMP, were guest speakers during the program.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
NIGHT the LIGHT
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) is a global nonprofit helping the fight against blood cancer. Their fundraising campaign, Light the Night, is a walk honoring blood cancer survivors and those lost to the diseases.
Since 1993, $1 billion has been raised through Light the Night efforts.
“A few years ago, my best friend’s father was diagnosed with leukemia. After a hard-fought battle, he unfortunately passed away. This is our fourth year being involved in this event. I hope that we can continue to grow our team in the years to come. We want to remember Walt and all those who have lost their battle, are currently battling or who have survived,” shared GBU member Shelby Taylor.
If you are working to raise funds for an organization that impacts your local community, GBU will match the funds you raised up to $1,000 per GBU insured member and $500 per GBU social member in a fivemember group (maximum $5,000 per group).
The maximum amount an organization may receive each year is $20,000. The funds matching must be for a qualifying 501(c)(3) organization that impacts your local community. The organization must have a listing on Charity Navigator. Learn more at gbucares.org/give-back-groups.
