HELP STUDENTS FOR YEARS TO COME

Give to the GBU Foundation Scholarship Program Thanks to the vision and generosity of GBU members and partners, the GBU Foundation helped 180 students take the next step towards achieving their dreams by awarding $156,750 in scholarships and grants in 2021. Scholarships benefited members in 31 states through our Freshmen, Undergraduate, Graduate, Two-Year, and High School Scholarship and Grants Programs. The GBU Foundation has awarded more than $2.2 million in GBU Foundation scholarships and grants since it started in 1962. Several GBU members and districts have established named or memorial scholarships and grants. You are invited to join us in the ongoing effort to support members in furthering their education.: Bert Waltenberger Memorial Scholarship for incoming college freshman with involvement in German-related programs Clarence O. Donate online at gbucares.org GBU Perpetual Education Grant With a gift of $15,000 to the GBU Foundation, you can set up a GBU Perpetual Education Grant which will offer a $500 educational grant to a different student each year. One-Time Education Grant Gift With a gift of $500 to the GBU Foundation, you can provide a one-time education grant awarded to a GBU member student. IRA Charitable Rollover/Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) If you’re 72 or older, you must take annual Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your IRA, and RMDs are taxable income. However, if you donate all or a portion of your RMD—up to $100,000 for an individual and $200,000 for a couple in 2022, if both are eligible—directly to a qualified charity like the GBU Foundation, that Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is excluded from your taxable income, and the donor doesn't owe any taxes on it. It’s important to remember that the distribution check must be made directly to GBU Foundation and not written to you to donate to GBU Foundation later. Donor-Advised Fund Direct a grant or a One-Time Education Grant gift to be made to GBU Foundation. Bequests Include GBU Foundation as a beneficiary in your will. Gifts of any size may be made in honor or memory of a loved one, and these tribute gifts will be listed in a future issue of The Reporter. Please contact Ken Elliott, charitable giving and PR specialist, at 412-336-3246 or Kenneth.Elliott@gbu.org with questions about check and online donations or funding a GBU Perpetual Education Grant. For more information about giving through the IRA Charitable Rollover/Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), Donor-Advised Funds or Bequests, please consult your financial, tax, or legal advisor.
