DISTRICT INFORMATION

WHAT IS A DISTRICT?

A district is a group of members who share a common bond and get together for fellowship, fun and service. Our community pillars are Education, Wellness, Charitable Giving and Hometown Heroes.

From volunteering at the pet shelter to hosting a Breakfast with Santa event, district members bring these pillars to life through community events and activities.

WHERE ARE DISTRICTS LOCATED?

We have 30 districts located in NY, PA, IN, Washington, D.C., MN, NY, OH, NJ, MI, WI and FL. But, GBU products are available in most states Contact the Community Engagement Department at our Home Office to locate a district in your area Or, consider creating your own district around your common bond

WHEN DO DISTRICT MEMBERS MEET?

Events and meetings vary depending on the district The more often a district meets and actively engages means more funds GBU will provide toward future district projects

REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAMS

LANGUAGE LEARNING

GBU will reimburse 50% of the cost of any language course or program that you use to learn another language, up to $250 annually! This includes language apps such as Duo Lingo or Babbel

DRIVERS SAFETY PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS

GBU will reimburse the cost of a driver's safety course, typically offered through AARP and AAA, specifically designed to meet the needs of older drivers (55+) up to $50.

FOR TEENS

GBU will reimburse new teen member drivers up to $100 for online or in-person driver's education certification courses

GBU YOUTH LEADERS PROGRAM

GBU YOUTH LEADERS PROGRAM

The GBU Youth Leaders Program is a new part of GBU’s commitment to our youth and their education. The best way to help the communities we care about is to help foster a sense of community in our youth. It is our hope that GBU Youth Leaders will grow up to be advocates and strong leaders both for GBU and for the communities they live in.

GBU Youth Leaders earn points for participation in the program and receive special recognition each year Points can also be redeemed for additional education or career starter grant money upon high school graduation

TEAM TO TEAM

GBU Life's new Team to Team program helps our youth members to be able to offset costs associated with school and recreational sports and clubs. Insured GBU youth members who are a participating teammate can apply for an individual sponsorship or five+ insured members can apply for a team sponsorship under this program.

SAGE TUITION REWARDS

Insured GBU Youth Leaders earn tuition discount points that can be used at many colleges and universities throughout the US. Adult GBU members can also earn points on behalf of a child, stepchild, grandchild, or niece or nephew. High school freshmen will be able to create a portfolio to track test scores, grades, community service and other items related to college admissions and apply to multiple colleges and universities directly from the platform.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

GBU members are eligible to apply for several GBU Life and other sponsored scholarships as long as they meet any requirements The GBU Foundation awards a number of four-year, undergraduate, graduate and twoyear scholarships Scholarship applicants not awarded a scholarship have a chance at receiving one of a predetermined number of one-time $750 GBU grants

HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN GRANT PROGRAM

The GBU High School Freshman Grant Program is designed to assist eighth-grade GBU members with costs associated with their transition into a high school curriculum The GBU Foundation awards several $250 high school grants each year The grants awarded are based on a completed application and a required essay submitted by the eighth-grade applicant

SHOW SOME LOVE FOR YOUR COMMUNITY

How to Help

GBU Matching Donations-GBU will match up to $1,000 per GBU member in your group (max $5,000 per group). You can do your fundraising any way you like: in person, through a mail campaign or even via Facebook. The funds matching must be for a qualifying 501(c)(3) organization.

Project Start-Up Funds-GBU will reimburse your group for expenses for your project up to $250 per GBU member in your group ($1,000 max) Reimbursable expenses include supplies needed for your community project or costs associated with fundraising events.

BIRTHDAY MATCH

GBU will match any donation you make to an approved 501(c)(3) organization during your birthday month up to $100 or any birthday fundraiser up to $250. Find out more at gbucares.org/birthday-match.

ONE HOUR AT A TIME

This special program donates $15 to an approved 501(c)(3) for each hour a GBU member volunteers at that organization, up to $150. Find out more and submit volunteer hours at gbucares.org/one-hour

Giving back is at the heart of GBU Life. It starts with our longstanding commitment to charitable causes and volunteerism. But we don’t stop there. We empower members to make a difference in their communities through financial donations, volunteer opportunities and fundraising resources.

EMPOWERING MEMBERS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

◗ Making an impact from day one: new members are invited to designate a charity to receive a GBU Life welcome donation.

◗ Recognizing volunteerism: we honor the difference our members make, one hour at a time. GBU Life matches volunteer hours with donations to support the causes closest to members’ hearts.

◗ Inspiring action: GBU Life helps members take their community commitment to the next level with fundraising tools, training and access to volunteering activities.

C O M M U N I T Y P R O J E C T S

Each year GBU Life members and employees gather to pack and ship thousands of care packages for deployed military personnel and veterans in need through Operation Reach Out.

Since 1962, the GBU Foundation has assisted members in furthering their post-secondary education with annual awards for four-year, undergraduate, graduate and two-year programs.

The GBU Foundation awards several high school grants each year that are based on a completed application and a required essay submitted by the eighth-grade applicant.
