District Passport Guide

Connect members through service and social interaction that support our Community Pillars

Purpose: Support or participate in an activity or event that promotes education in the community.

Ideas include:

Host a school supply drive.

Host a pancake breakfast and invite families in the community to learn the benefits of GBU youth membership (affordable youth policies, access to programs and resources like the Team to Team program, scholarships and grants, and Give Back University).

Set up a named scholarship or grant with the GBU Foundation and support district members seeking to further their education.

Purpose: Support or participate in an activity or event that recognizes and celebrates Hometown Heroes (veterans, volunteer fire/EMT, police).

Ideas include:

Participate in a community parade (4th of July, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day).

Set up a named community grant with the GBU Foundation to help support a local volunteer fire or EMS company.

Co-host an event with a Hometown Hero organization to benefit the community.

Charitable

Purpose: Support local 501c3 organizations that benefit the community.

Ideas include:

Host a supply drive of needed items for a local food pantry or pet shelter.

Gather members and volunteer at a center in need (Ex: serve meals at a nursing home).

Form a Give Back Group with fellow GBU members and host a fundraiser for a local organization.

Purpose: Encourage healthy habits and promote general wellness for members of the community and your district.

Ideas include:

Organize a nature walk or game night (bowling, baseball, or trivia).

Invite a health professional to give a presentation on a health-related topic to members of the district and community. Sponsor a health-related charity walk or run.

Complete an activity in each of our pillars to receive a stamp. Complete the passport by the end of the year and your district will be entered into a drawing to win "GBU District of the Year"! The winning district will receive a $500 bonus, be featured in The Reporter magazine, and receive a $500 donation from the Home Office to a 501c3 organization of the district’s choice.
