SAVE ASHBURTON PARK MINI-RECYCLING CENTRE Labour-controlled Croydon Council is removing the mini-recycling centre in Ashburton Park. Their justification is that it attracts fly tipping. It’s undoubtedly true that some people dump rubbish there in the hope that the Council will clear up after them, but local MP Gavin Barwell thinks getting rid of the recycling centre is the Read more on my blog: wrong answer. What Here’s the next closest recycling centre, with some fly tipped waste. the Council should be doing is catching the people who are fly tipping Will they close this one next? and prosecuting them, rather than making life harder for people who are trying to do the right thing and recycle. And if the Council is convinced that the park is the wrong location, it should open an alternative facility in the area. Gavin has launched a campaign calling on the Council to keep the recycling centre open or, failing that, to replace it with a new one somewhere else in the area.
