Tijdens Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2015 speelt Ensemble Modelo62 de première van een nieuw werk dat Emre Sihan Kaleli speciaal voor het ensemble heeft geschreven. In 2013 werkte de destijds voor de Gaudeamus Award genomineerde Kaleli voor het eerst samen met het ensemble aan Il voto dell’ innocenza, waarvoor hij een eervolle vermelding kreeg. Dit stuk staat eveneens op het programma – ditmaal in combinatie met visuele elementen van de hand van Yolanda Uriz. Daarnaast presenteert het ensemble een nieuw stuk van Tobias Klich, in opdracht van het festival geschreven nadat hij de Gaudeamus Award won in 2013. Voor dit werk, een compositie voor kamerensemble en videoprojecties, liet Klich zich inspireren door Los Caprichos, een serie etsen van Goya. Ten laatste speelt Modelo62 de Nederlandse première van Graphein, een opwindend stuk voor versterkt ensemble gecomponeerd door jurylid Raphaël Cendo. At Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2015, Ensemble Modelo62 premieres a new work that Emre Sihan Kaleli has written especially for the ensemble. Also included in the programme
is a repeat performance of Il voto dell’innocenza with which Kaleli was nominated for the Gaudeamus Award in 2013 – this time with visuals created by Yolanda Uriz. In addition, the ensemble proudly presents new work by Tobias Klich that was commissioned by Gaudeamus after he won the Gaudeamus Award in 2013. This piece for chamber ensemble and video projection was inspired by Goya’s Los Caprichos, a series of etchings. The Major Sevenths is a fictional band based in London; the brainchild of Matthew Schlomowitz. The Major Sevenths Medley is an ode to their greatest hits. Boys (Jongens) they were once, the men called Zwerm. They recorded their first songs on low-fi cassettes, dreamt of fame and fortune. Twenty-five years later, Thomas Bensdorp turned the recordings into a genuine composition. Als mens vermomd (Disguised as a human) is a sad and tough work by Mauro Pawlowski. It revolves around an alien, who presents as a human. When the piece premiered, the disguised alien appeared on stage to read a poem. Tonight he is unable to attend. Very sad indeed.
