Elk Rapids (Ranked #3 in the State) beat TC Christian (Ranked #9) 1-0 to emerge from its district at Boyne Mountain Soccer Complex and advance to regionals in Clare. TC Christian head coach, Roy Montney, commended his Seniors for driving the team all season and thinks his underclassmen will lead the Sabres back next year. “We had three freshman that played a great deal,” Montney said. “We lose a lot in terms of our seniors, but depth-wise, we’ll be here playing again.” The Sabres ended the season with a 16-3-2 record. A fine effort, guys. Go Sabres!

Volleyball Milestone
Sabre Junior, Emma Mirabelli, recorded her 1000th kill at a quad in Farwell, Michigan. Congratulations, Emma.
Volleyball

The TC Christian Varsity Volleyball team, coached by alumnus Katelyn (Vanvreede) Shaffran has enjoyed a very successful season. The Sabres were 26-7 for the year and concluded their season ranked #2 in the state. There was much to celebrate with this team. Seniors Olivia Connor, Camille Thurman, Ellie Visser, and Ella Wendel showed excellent leadership on the court. Junior Emma Mirabelli reached a career milestone during the season with 1,000 kills to her credit. And the depth of the team has improved such that, even as we graduate our key Seniors, there is a core team with excellent experience ready for the new season. The JV volleyball team (4-11), coached by Russ Hansen, used their season to develop new players, work on plays, and ensure they operated as a building block for the Varsity squad.
New Varsity Basketball Coach

The Sabres are pleased to announce the hiring of Aric Woughter as the Varsity Boys Head Basketball Coach. Aric is no stranger to TCCS, currently serving as our physical education teacher. We are excited for Aric to bring his experience and passion for the game of basketball to the program.
Aric has coached at Traverse City Central High School, both as a head coach for the Varsity Girls program, and as an assistant coach for the Varsity Boys program. Aric also brings over 10 years of youth and AAU coaching experience. Aric is married to Kerrey, who is the Director of Library at NMC, and they have two daughters, Abigail and Margot.
Elementary Cross Country
The Elementary Cross Country team had a fun season with many young athletes experiencing competitive running for the first time and our return runners accomplishing new personal bests. Our team of 27 runners had a great time learning about the sport of running, how to challenge themselves and how to be a teammate with Godly character.
Because of Covid regulations, our season was a lot different this year, but we all agreed that there were many blessings that came from this unique season. Our One Mile races were held at local parks and at our home course here at TCCS. A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who made this season possible by taking on race duties. A special recognition goes to Coach Jenni Blodgett and family for helping coach all season!
We are very thankful to be able to introduce our students at a young age to the character building benefits of school sports. Congratulations to all the Cross Country Runners for a great season and we can’t wait to see you again in 2021!

Middle School Volleyball

The Middle School volleyball teams wrapped up another great season. The B Team finished with a 4-3 record and the A team with a 4-5 record. Coaches Amanda Keene and Leah Ufer made it a fun season and the girls kept learning and improving throughout the season. We look forward to next year!
