ELIGIBILITY

JUROR

As an artist, Steven Greenwall’s work has been exhibited in six international exhibits, numerous national and regional competitions and exhibits, including; Oregon, California, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Tennesse. Greenwall, an experienced juror, holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Utah State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University. Greenwall has taught on the college level for 20+ years, teaching both representational and conceptual approaches and techniques.

VENUE

Artists 18 years and older whose primary residence is in the United States, working in any media within the eligible categories, may apply to the exhibition, excluding audio and video. Entries must be of the artist’s original design and not a result of a class assignment. Enter current work created after Jan. 1, 2012.

ENTRY FEE

Artists may submit up to 4 works for a non-refundable fee of $35. Credit cards are accepted on-line at www.callforentry.org with your submission. The fee must accompany your submission.

The Walker Art Gallery and the City of Garnett Community & West Wing Galleries are city owned public art spaces. Housed within the Walker Art Gallery lies the Mary Bridget McAuliffe Walker Art Collection, established in 1951 by Maynard Walker and given to the City of Garnett, KS. This collection of mostly early twentieth century American paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings is reknownly one of the most extraordinary art collections in the Midwest. The collection includes works by John Steuart Curry, Robert Henri, Arthur B. Davies, Walt Kuhn, Henry Varnum Poor, Luigi Lucioni, Boardman Robinson, John F. Carlson, Kenneth Callahan and Theodoros Stamos. Artists from the Midwest include Frederick James, Merrill Gage, Pauline Shirer, David Overmeyer, Adeline Peers, John F. Helm, Dwight Kirsch and his son, John Kirsch. England is represented by the animal drawing by John Skeaping and a collection of caricature drawings of cats and dogs by Louis Wain. George Grosz, Edouard Manet and Jean Baptiste Corot are European artists whose works are also included. “At the Walker” Open Exhibition Juried Show will be on exhibit in the public galleries adjoining the Walker Art Gallery located at 125 W. 4th Avenue, Garnett, KS.


“At The Walker” Open Exhibition ENTRY PROCEDURES

All entries must be submitted through www.callforentry.org using the CaFE’ system. Register and search for 1st Annual “At The Walker” Open Exhibition and follow application instructions. We encourage the submission of work in all media excluding video and audio. Accepted work will be no larger than 30 inches in any dimension. The sum of the combined measurements of height + weight + depth on 3D entries should not exceed 50” total and weight should not exceed 30 lbs. Each image must reflect one artwork. Only threedimensional entries may include one alternate view per entry. Digital images must be a JPEG (.jpg) file, 1920 pixels on the shortest side, no larger than 3 MB in RGB and sRBG color space. Please refer to the Media Prep page on the CaFE’ website for further media requirements. Image quality is extremely important, as poor images may lead to elimination. Images should appear in correct orientation as they may be used for reference for installation and printing purposes.

Shipped Artwork should be delivered

to the above address March 16th - March 20th, 2015. (Please, no earlier & no later).

Hand Delivered Artwork will be accepted Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 19th, 2015 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artworks. All shipments must include a prepaid return shipping label and be shipped in a container appropriate for re-use in return shipping. Please, no styrofoam peanuts in packaging. Artworks must be available for loan during the entire exhibition period, April 1, 2015 - May 29, 2015.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Accepted artwork must be shipped ‘installation ready’ unless otherwise noted in the acceptance letter. All 2D work must be framed with wire hangers. All work must be completely dry, framed, wired and ready for hanging, or otherwise suitably prepared for exhibition. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted. Orientation or installation instructions and specialized hardware should be included with the work. For any artwork that requires non-standard set up or any artwork with more than one component piece, all hanging hardware must be included along with detailed hanging instructions. Only plexiglas framing is accepted (no glass framing) for shipped 2D artwork. All shipped artwork must not exceed UPS/Fed Ex size limitations and individual artworks should be no larger than 30” in the longest dimension.

JUDGING

Our goal is to create an exhibit that represents contemporary art being created in the United States now! Juror will select up to 50 artworks from all entries to be exhibited “At The Walker”. Artworks must be available for loan during the entire exhibition period, April 1, 2015 - May 29, 2015. Notification of selected artists will take place on or before Feb. 27th, 2015. The Walker Art Committee reserves the right to reject, or exclude from exhibition, accepted work that differs significantly from the submitted images, is inadequately prepared for installation, or may be deemed inappropriate for a young viewing audience. Submit accordingly.

SALES

The Walker Art Committee will retain a 30% commission on all sales made as a result of the exhibition. To receive payment, Artists will need to submit a W-9 form which will be forwarded upon sale. Payments will be mailed within 6 weeks after the close of the show. All works must be for sale.

LIABILITY

Selected Artists are responsible for transporting their artwork by the specified date to and from The Walker Art Gallery. The artist is responsible for all shipping charges and insurance, both on site and during transit. The Walker Art Committee & the City of Garnett will not be responsible for any shipping or holding fees. The Walker Art Committee & the City of Garnett will not accept responsibility for loss or damage of artwork, regardless of cause.
