GENERAL CLASS POLICIES *Pre-enrollment is required for all of GCA art classes! Walk-ins are welcome if there are available spots; however, you are NOT guaranteed a spot if you do not enroll in advance. *Garden City Arts requires payment upon enrollment for all of our classes. To save your spot in this class you can either pay online or contact the gallery to arrange payment. If you are a Garden City Arts member and you are paying on Eventbrite, please enter code: GCA upon check out to receive your discount. *Cancellation policy: Garden City Arts requires a 48 hour cancellation notice via phone or email for all of our classes. If no notice is given you WILL NOT receive a refund of class fees. *Garden City Arts will not tolerate bullying or disruptive behavior during our classes. We want to insure that all participants have a safe and comfortable learning environment. Any students who exhibit behavior that is deemed disruptive by the class instructor will have to be picked up by their parent/guardian immediately.

Participants are encouraged to come and go at their own leisure and check out the artwork featured at each stop. Admission is free for all locations and everyone is welcome! CARDS WITH MOM

STRANGE VISITORS

Come learn about pop artist Jim Dine and create artwork that centers on his favorite shape, a heart. At the end of this workshop, kids will have multiple Valentine’s day cards that they can give to family and friends. All materials are provided.

A spaceship has landed and inside are visitors from a far away planet! What do they look like? What kind of ship brought them? In this fun workshop, you get to decide and sculpt your own ship and alien using model magic clay. All supplies provided.

Watercolor WORKSHOPS

Get out of your craft room/studio or off your kitchen table and join your peers for open studio nights at Garden City Arts. People of all skill levels and working in all mediums are invited to bring their tools/supplies to the gallery and work on their own projects in a different environment.

Every month a new instructor will help participants explore the wide range of techniques used in watercolor painting. No previous experience in watercolor is required as this class is designed for beginners. All materials are provided.

BOOKBINDING WORKSHOP

Learn the basics of bookmaking and create your own-one-of-a-kind journal. During this two night workshop, participants will use a variation of the long stitch to produce a finished journal to take home. All materials are provided. DRAWING WORKSHOP

The truth is you are not the only person that struggles with how to start a painting. Local artist Robin Valenzuela will show you a fun method to kick start your creativity and help you develop free flowing and expressive paintings. All materials provided; however, you are encouraged to bring your own favorite tools, brushes or colors of acrylic paint.

Have you always wanted to learn how to draw, but don’t know where to start? Join Michael Knutson during this evening workshop and learn how to use the grid method to start a drawing. Michael will cover the basics and help you get started on a black and white drawing of a pet or animal of your choice. All materials are provided; however, you are encouraged to bring your own black and white, 8x10 sized photograph to draw.
