THURSDAY 29th JULY WELCOME
Welcome to Ballybrit
On behalf the Galway Race Committee and the team here at Galway Racecourse, we are delighted to welcome you back to Ballybrit, the home of the iconic Galway Races Summer Festival and a very special place for so many of you.
We know from all our customers feedback that the Galway Races is more than just a festival; it’s a tradition, it’s multigenerational and very much part of our community. It’s the meeting of old friends and new and even more so, it gives us a reason to celebrate and be joyful which we need now more than ever.
Front Line Heroes
Over the last few months, Galway Racecourse has been a hive of activity as we welcomed the HSE vaccine centre to Ballybrit. We would like to say a big thank you to all HSE and front-line staff for their ongoing dedication and hard work. We salute you.
Partnerships
Partnerships and support have been the back bone and key to the success of the iconic Galway Races. While many businesses have experienced a challenging year, Galway Racecourse is delighted to announce that all its partners are continuing to support and sponsor the Summer Festival into the future.
We are delighted you have joined us on the fourth day of the Galway Races Summer Festival where we have eight exciting races to look forward to, including the feature race on the card the €250,000 Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap. We would like to thank today’s sponsor Guinness who generously sponsor the entire card for their continued support and we hope that they and their guests have an enjoyable day.
Her’s Best Dressed competition at the Galway Races is back
Today is of course Ladies Day and with things not quite back to normal yet, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate safely and in style. This year’s event today will be a fully interactive and virtual experience for anybody who wants to take part – and for the lucky few who will be in attendance on the day. • Get involved: to enter simply post a photo to Instagram along with a screenshot of a charity donation of your choice (minimum of €5 per entry). • Use the hashtags #HerBestDressed and #IMadeMyDonation, tag the charity of your choice, and include @galway_races and @herdotie. • Once the competition opens for entries judge Louise O’Reilly will scroll through the photos and deliberate until the entries closes later that day. All finalists and overall winners must be available for interview with Her.
Supporting our Silent Partner, the Thoroughbred Horse
This week we are proud to support the Irish Horse Welfare Trust, Irelands largest, longest running dedicated equine charity, providing specialist care for Thoroughbred horses. The Irish Horse Welfare Trust was set up in 1999 to reschool, re-habilitate and re-home Thoroughbred horses. Now more than ever, it’s important to give back and help other organisations when we can. Due to current times with the cancellation of the majority of their fundraising events, the charity is in need of our support. To help them we have set up a fundraising page. Every euro donated will go directly to this great cause. To support and donate this fundraiser, check out www.idonate.ie/GalwayRaces2021 thank you.
