The Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap of €250,000 (Grade A)

Winner will receive €150,000 (Penalty Value: €147,500), Second will receive €50,000, Third will receive €25,000, Fourth will receive €12,500, Fifth will receive €7,500, Sixth will receive €5,000. An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards that have run at least three times in hurdle races up to and including 18th July 2021. Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 10lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs. About 2 miles 11 yards. €1,000 to enter on July 14th, €1,000 extra if forfeit not declared by July 22nd and €500 extra if declared to run. Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race or hurdle races after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper. In the event of the top weight remaining prior to the preliminary ballot being less than 11st 7lb, it shall be raised to that weight and all of the other horses shall be raised by an equal amount. (Penalties incurred by winning after the calculation of the weights shall be added to the weight of the horse as originally published before the raising of weights). The preliminary ballot will then be made in accordance with HRI Directive 10 (iii) (c) except the winner of The Bar One Racing ‘Bellewstown’ Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown on July 3rd, 2021 which shall be exempt from the ballot if their weight is 9st 12lb or above. The Stewards of the I.N.H.S. Committee have suspended the relevant sections of Rules 194 and 195 for the purpose of this race. The following procedures will apply for reserves. Not more than twenty runners will be permitted to run in this race with a maximum of three reserves at time of Declaration on Tuesday, 27th July. Should one or more horses be declared non-runners to the I.H.R.B. by 10.00 a.m. Wednesday 28th July, these non-runners will be replaced in the race by the reserves in their order of priority. There shall be no reserves in the race after this time and any horse which has not obtained a place in the race at this time will be automatically removed from the race as a reserve. Declarations of riders for any reserve which obtains a place in the race and for which a rider has not already been declared must be made by 12.00 noon Wednesday 28th July. Should the top weight declared be a non-runner by 10.00 a.m. Wednesday 28th July and this results in an Alternative Handicap coming into operation, the weights will be raised at this time and revised declaration of riders will be accepted for all declared runners up to 12.00 noon on this date. Otherwise the normal Alternative Handicap deadline will apply. Handicaps calculated 19th July.
