EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Associates of Applied Science Alternative Degree Option (Degree Audit Program Code: EMS-AAS-ALT) The purpose of the Associates of Applied Science in EMS Alternative Degree Option is to prepare students for entry to management, education, or supervisory positions that will be expected to plan, direct, and coordinate EMS and Fire organizations. Admissions Criteria: Students much complete the admissions requirements to Galveston College. Admissions to Galveston College does not guarantee admission to the EMS program. The student must demonstrate that they are TSI complete in order to graduate with an AAS. Applicants Must:
1. Complete the requirements for admission to Galveston College. Admission to Galveston College does not guarantee admission to the program.
2. Submit a program level application to the EMS Program Director, This application can be found at www.gc.edu/ems or in person at Galveston College in the Allied Health Suite N-200. 3. Show proof of State of Texas OR National Paramedic certification. 4. Demonstrate college–readiness in reading, writing and math through the approved means including previous coursework, Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI), ACT or SAT scores.
Transfer Policy: Course work from another program will be evaluated on an individual basis by the Program Director. A grade of “C” or better is required on all transferred prerequisite, general education, and program specific courses. Transfer students from another program will be admitted on a space-available basis. Transfer students must: 1. Complete admission requirements to Galveston College as well as the program admission criteria. 2. Submit course syllabi for review, if requested by Program Coordinator. 3. Agree to complete a disclosure of information form.
