NEW YEAR, NEW LOOK…
I have often been told that Marie Gallo never went anywhere without a copy of the Gallo Center’s magazine in her purse. She always wanted to be prepared to tell people what was coming up. The Gallo Center Magazine has been published 10 times a year since 2010, and reaches more than 60,000 diverse households and businesses through direct mail each month, making it our most successful communication tool, and a very attractive marketing vehicle for advertisers as well.
The magazine is not only designed to provide a deeper look at upcoming Gallo Center and resident company performances than what we can achieve with conventional paid media, but also helps us keep you, our patrons, informed about other special events and activities happening here at the Center throughout the season.
January is filled with big names, including REO Speedwagon, Itzhak Perlman, and Kristin Chenoweth, all guaranteed to sell out fast. Plus, don’t miss the Gallo Center debuts of Carrot Top on January 15 and the Monterey Jazz Festival on January 27 with an all-star lineup that includes Kurt
Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and legendary pianist Christian Sands, among others.
As the world continues to recover and rebound from the pandemic, the Gallo Center, like many other businesses, has been significantly impacted by industry disruptions, including supply chain issues, increased printing costs due to national paper shortages, and multiple increases in postage costs. With these challenges in mind, our incredible marketing team has been forced to rethink, reimagine, and redesign a new, sustainable format of our most valuable promotional resource.
Without further ado, we are very excited to unveil our newly reformatted publication this month and we hope you like our new look!

THURSDAY, JANUARY 19, 2023, 7:30 PM TICKETS: $29/39/59/69
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo brings its internationally beloved troupe of male dancers to the Center to perform a brilliant combination of skillful pointe work and hilarious parodying of classical ballet favorites like Swan Lake. Founded in New York City in 1974, the company, affectionately known as The Trocks, began by appearing in late-late shows in off-off Broadway lofts for small audiences who appreciated the iconoclastic humor of it all. The company has since grown to achieve great appeal among more mainstream audiences who flock to theaters worldwide to see these prima ballerinas perform. Revered by ballet aficionados as well as the uninitiated—those who don’t know a plié from a jeté—The Trocks are “a guaranteed hoot for people who know nothing of ballet and an absolute must for those who think they know the originals.” Sydney Star Observer

From the esteemed L.A. Theatre Works, Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom is the hilarious and true story behind one of America’s most beloved TV comedies. Lucille Ball paved the way for many of today’s top comediennes, and her iconic series, I Love Lucy, remains one of the most groundbreaking and influential shows in television history. Playwright Gregg Oppenheimer—son of I Love Lucy creator Jess Oppenheimer—spins this witty, fast-paced tale of Lucy and Desi’s battles with CBS over the pioneering ideas that changed the face of television forever.
by the network. The two demanded and won the right to own the show themselves. Their writers incorporated Lucy’s real-life pregnancy into the program’s story line—an absolute taboo in 1950s America—resulting in the highest audience share ever recorded. And they proposed the unheard-of notion of airing “reruns” on the network in order to accommodate Lucy’s mid-season maternity leave—an experiment that ultimately turned the entire TV industry’s business model on its head.
This show tells all of these stories, and more, with as much heart and humor as an episode of I Love Lucy itself!
