IPES RECRUITS PRIVATE EQUITY SPECIALIST TO ITS SENIOR TEAM

David Becker has been promoted to become a partner at Deloitte LLP and will continue to work in the organisation’s Guernsey office. David joined Deloitte 18 years ago as a graduate and qualified as an accountant in 1999. Since that time he has become a financial services audit specialist and also leads the offshore insurance practice and the Guernsey real estate group. In addition, David leads the offshore transaction services team. David has been responsible for the impressive growth of Deloitte’s transactions services practice, with over 40 transactions completed in the last 10 years. David is ACA qualified and holds a diploma in Investment Management. He is also a member of the Guernsey International Insurance Association (GIIA) Regulatory and Technical Committee and the Guernsey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants (GSCCA) training committee.

Specialist private equity fund administrator, Ipes, has added to its senior client services team with the appointment of Mark Coppin as Operations Director for Ipes UK. Mark brings with him more than 16 years financial services experience during which he has specialised in private equity accounting and administration. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (“ICAEW”) Mark has joined Ipes from Langham Hall where he was in charge of the private equity reporting team, advising clients in private equity funds, venture funds and fund of funds. Prior to Langham Hall, Mark ran a number of teams at Capital Dynamics reporting fund of funds vehicles and specific client accounts.

TEN SENIOR MANAGERS COMPLETE ON-ISLAND MBA TEN of the island’s senior managers have successfully completed their master’s degree in business administration with the GTA University Centre. The students – three of whom received distinctions – were drawn from all sectors of the economy, including telecoms, finance, police, on line marketing and healthcare. They are now using the skills and knowledge gained from the programme to drive up quality and performance in their organisations. Detective Chief Inspector Ruari Hardy from Guernsey Police, who recently completed the course, said that working with international tutors while learning onisland was a huge benefit.

Mourant Ozannes has two new Advocates of the Royal Court of Guernsey. Advocates Alastair Hargreaves and Rachel Guthrie were called to the Guernsey Bar on the 7and 14 July respectively. Jessica Roland, Mourant Ozannes Guernsey managing partner said: “We are incredibly proud of Rachel and Alastair’s success in completing the Guernsey Bar studies and examinations and welcome their appointments as fellow Advocates. Both hold key positions in busy practices and we’re looking forward to working with them through the next stages of their careers.”

Carey Olsen has promoted seven lawyers, including three in Guernsey, one in London and three in Jersey with effect from 1 July 2014. The law firm, which was recently awarded Offshore Law Firm of the Year at the 2014 Lawyer Awards ceremony, employs over 300 people, including 185 lawyers, across its offices in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey, Cape Town and London. Included in the new appointments are Jersey trust and fiduciary lawyer Keith Dixon and Guernsey litigation lawyer Simon Florance who have both been promoted to of counsel. In the

In Guernsey, former associates litigation lawyer Tim Bamford and property lawyer Jonathan Anderson have been appointed as senior associates. Former associate Imogen Payne, a corporate and investment funds specialist in the firm’s London office, has also been promoted to senior associate level.
