STACIE CHAPPELL

Stacie Chappell is a contemporary abstract painter who lives and works in Boise, Idaho. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, studying ceramics, painting and sculpture. After undergraduate work, she received her MFA at the State University of New York at Albany, where she studied and consulted on her work with faculty and Art Critic, Ken Johnson, as well as faculty and artist Mark Greenwald, and Jo Anne Carson. After graduate school, Stacie was introduced and recruited by George Mc Clancy, Director of the State University New York Empire State Studio Arts Program. She continued her studio work in New York City for a semester, apprenticing with artists Ursula Von Rydingsvard and Luca Buvoli. Stacie is currently a regional northwest artist and educator with over 20 years in higher education. Stacie describes herself as an intuitive painter. She describes her working process as spontaneous and reflective. I rely on many colors, a variety of paint applications to create a number of mark making and visual techniques. I am moving fast, scraping, and pouring, wiping, spraying painting until there are enough layers to begin to contemplate and resolve the space.” Stacie has exhibited at the Boise Art Museum, The Visual Arts Center at Boise State University, and the Leedy Volkous Art Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She has participated in-group and solo shows in California, Idaho, New York, Missouri, Idaho, Seattle, and the Netherlands. You can find her work in numerous private and public collections, including with The City of Seattle and the Jackson Jet Center in Boise, Idaho. Gallery IMA, in Seattle Washington, represents her artwork. Fun Fair acrylic and oil stick on canvas 48 by 48 inches 2023 $3,200
