As one of the finest artists working in the abstract style today, the aesthetics of Kathy Buist’s work not only appeal to the eyes, but to our memory and sense of passing time. Her works depict familiar landscapes of places we’ve been, or places that we’ve yet to go. There is a universality to her work that appeals both to the color enthusiast and lover of abstract subjects, and also to the more traditional art lover who gets lost contemplating an alluring landscape. She seeks to capture the ethereal atmosphere of her surroundings and the ever changing light of day. For texture and varying levels of depth, Kathy crushes pieces of shell and sand, working it directly into her paints. These natural elements imbue each piece with an organic energy that emanates from the canvas.

Kathy’s work has won praise from The New York Times and has been shown in museums and galleries throughout the country, including the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, the National Woman’s Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Long Island Art Reflections on a Garden 18, 48” x 48” Museum. Kathy has been a resident artist at centers in Vermont and Virginia, and her paintings are part of myriad prestigious private collections internationally. She also has the distinct honor of being part of Who’s Who in American Art.

“Every natural action is graceful.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Inspired by poets such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, Buist celebrates the magnificent creativity found in nature and the intrinsic poetry of the woods. Through their theories of the Transcendental movements, she pays tribute to their spirit of adventure and their deep connection to the land.

“To work on the landscape you need courage to be bold in the face of nature. For me, there’s almost no limit to what landscape can express or reveal." KATHY BUIST

In this sublime space of elegance and strength, the eyes of the viewers encounter aesthetic pleasure. As a painter of abstract landscapes, Buist is searching for ways to capture and transform the beauty of nature into forms and colors on canvases to elicit emotions of great joy and serenity. With textures and fluid shapes, Buist references regeneration and an engagement with a mysterious luminosity that defies rationality.

“I am inspired by the changing light, sun, clouds, misty mornings, before and after the rain... I need to work in the studio but all of the windows and doors are open so I can sense what is around me. A reverence for the earth and its sensuality guides my passion for painting landscapes." NATASHA ZUPAN Spending her life divided between Spain and New York, Natasha Zupan grew up knowing she wanted to be an artist from the ripe age of three. She has spent her career cultivating an elegant and ethereal signature style, unifying the old and the new. Combining renaissance hues with chiaroscuro and modern collages with mixed media, the Yale-educated artist innovates her own technique of modernism and admiration for the great masters. Zupan has collectors throughout Europe, Asia and the United States, including prominent public collections such as the Sackler Collection, Swarovski Collection, Engel & Voelkers and the private collections of renowned celebrities, such as Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. She has held over 35 solo exhibitions internationally, and has collaborated with Swarovski to design a chandelier for Art Basel/Miami and Salone Mobile, Milan. She has collaborated with Medsins du Monde with a lithograph created at the Joan Miro studio. She has designed a runway concept and installation for fashion designer, Zang Toi’s New York Fashion Week runway show.
