Forward Samir Sammoun’s innovative approach and widely celebrated compositions make him one of the most acclaimed PostImpressionist landscape painters working in North America today. Drawing heavily from personal memories, Sammoun’s richly layered impasto paintings exquisitely blend the Post-Impressionistic style with spontaneous, gestural brushwork. He continues to attract the attention of international scholars and museums alike, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Montréal, Québec, the Marc-Aurèle Fortin Museum, and Boston's own Museum of Fine Arts as part of “Give the Arts a Chance.” We are delighted to welcome the holiday season with Sammoun’s newest collection, as he has captured our beloved Boston through New England’s ever-changing seasons. Sammoun initiates each canvas much like the Dutch masters would, by applying an under-painting of burnt sienna with a brush and blending with a rag. This process accentuates the grain of his surface and provides an inner light and unity throughout his compositions. He then uses a long-handled brush to render the natural texture of his scene in successive staccato strokes using a multitude of hues. This unique technique of vibrant variations projects the fleeting glimmer of light and movement on his canvases. Whether one is experiencing a painting of lush Provence fields, billowing blades of wheat, rich autumnal landscapes, or a quaint Boston brownstone, one perceives immediately the profound understanding Sammoun possesses of the world around him. In addition to his museum representation, Sammoun's work can be found in private and corporate collections around the globe. Sammoun is also an active member in many charitable organizations, including the Sainte Justine Hospital in Montréal and the Medical Mission for Children in Boston.
