JOEY+ RORY

Hymns That Are Important To Us One of country and gospel music’s most beloved couples, Joey+Rory, known for their hit TV show “The Joey+Rory Show” on RFD-TV, sing songs of love and truth; but they also walk the walk—a simple, authentic, country lifestyle of homegrown food, family and faith in the Lord Jesus. Over the years since they first appeared on the TV show “Can You Duet,” they have won awards, traveled the country, hosted events, co-founded a restaurant and opened a concert hall in the barn of their very own backyard. Theirs has been a story of love, commitment and hard work; and that story has included challenges even amidst such acclaim and successes. Soon after birthing their baby, Indiana, in February of 2014, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer, a disease doctors soon believed had been beat with surgery. In the summer of 2015 Joey began to experience symptoms that led her back to the doctor where she was told she had stage 4 cancer. The original cancer cells had spread, and those cells and the tumor have been rapidly growing over the past few months. During that time Joey has been fighting, and she and Rory have turned to family, friends and their faith as never before. And they have turned to hymns— timeless melodies with messages that continue to carry them through a difficult and inspiring journey of faith. “We have a new album coming out around Valentine’s Day. Joey’s album. The one she’s always wanted to make – filled with the hymns she grew up with,” stated Rory. “We recorded it in a studio in Nashville early in the summer – just after recovering from her first big surgery in Chicago. And then she did her vocals where she could--in hotel rooms, our house, wherever and whenever she felt up to singing. In early October, we even did a TV taping of the songs in the concert hall at our farm

“Joey was weak and it was difficult for her, but she was determined. This record means so much to her. It is the songs that are the most important to her.” in front of a live audience. Joey was weak and it was difficult for her, but she was determined. This record means so much to her. These are the songs that are the most important to her. Yesterday Heidi and I went into Bill Gaither’s studio here in Joey’s hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, and added our harmony parts to Joey’s vocals on all the songs. It’s going to be special. “…I think Joey wants to capture the words and music of her childhood…the music that she goes to when she needs comfort…the music that makes this beautiful, tragic, crazy life somehow make sense. I think she wants to capture this music so we can take it home with us--all of us--and have it forever.” -Rory Feek
