Georgia Farm Bureau serves nearly 250,000 member families through 158 county Farm Bureau offices located throughout the state. Most of the money you pay in dues remains in your county to be utilized by your local Farm Bureau on your behalf. Since its beginning in 1937, Georgia Farm Bureau has continued to expand and improve services for you – our valuable member families.

In the early years, most Farm Bureau members were farmers, but today’s membership includes Georgians from ALL walks of life. PUBLIC POLICY DEPARTMENT

To fulfill our mission and enhance the value of membership, Georgia Farm Bureau is committed to programs that strengthen our support for agriculture, rural Georgia and our members. Farm Bureau programs are an integral part of who we are. Our strong grassroots network of 158 county Farm Bureau organizations are composed of volunteers working to be the “Voice of Agriculture” while strengthening our rural communities.

From the beginning, Farm Bureau has been a family organization with programs and activities designed to involve every member of the family. Many of these programs are specifically aimed at surfacing future leaders for the organization.

A STRONG LEGISLATIVE VOICE

Our grassroots process is coordinated by the Public Policy Department staff to help Farm Bureau leaders maintain contact with elected officials at the state and national levels.

COMMODITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Commodity Advisory Committees represents 20 major commodities produced in Georgia. The purpose of each committee is to develop communication among Farm Bureau members and to serve in an advisory capacity for the president, board of directors, and staff. Advisory committees help develop policy as it relates to specific commodities and issues that affect producer’s livelihood. Committees represent Aquaculture, Beef Cattle, Cotton, Dairy, Direct Marketing/Agritourism, Environmental Horticulture, Equine, Feedgrains/ Soybeans, Forestry, Fruits, Goats and Sheep, Hay, Honeybees, Peanuts, Pecans, Poultry, Swine, Tobacco, Vegetables, and Water.

AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM

Agriculture In The Classroom is a statewide educational program providing resources, training and support to schools, educators and volunteers so that they can meaningfully connect children to agriculture. We do this through AITCdesigned lessons and resources, educator training workshops, conferences, newsletters, teacher awards, and volunteer projects and initiatives.

The Georgia Ag Experience is a unique STEM based educational program provided by the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture. Our 36-foot mobile classroom showcases Georgia agriculture on the road. We, the voting delegates of the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation assembled on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, do hereby adopt the following covenant with our present and future members.

We believe in maintaining Georgia Farm Bureau as a strong, viable farm organization controlled by its membership. We further pledge to work to improve the economic well being of agriculture and to enrich the quality of life in rural Georgia.

We are committed to providing a strong legislative voice for agricultural, economic, and rural issues at the local, state, and national levels. To achieve this commitment, we will depend upon our grassroots traditions and sustain our not for profit, non-partisan, volunteer farm organization.

We will work to tell the important, positive story of agriculture and its vital role in sustaining America’s economic vitality and national security. To fulfill this pledge, we will work through a variety of programs offered by county Farm Bureaus; Georgia Farm Bureau; public media; as well as member focused publications, radio and television programming.

We will strive to support a network of vibrant county Farm Bureaus led by a committed, informed and well supported base of volunteer leaders.

We know serving the county members is the reason for our existence. To that end, we will provide quality, economically attractive membership benefits and grassroots promotions that will attract and retain county members.
