✓ Rod: Holds the drapery or curtain in place over the window. ✓ Trim mold: The wood that has been nailed around the window to trim or finish the opening. ✓ Window length: The distance measured from the top to the bottom of the window. Outside window length is measured from the outside edge of the trim mold to the bottom of the apron. If the window doesn’t have an apron, the outside window length is from the outside edge of the trim mold to the bottom of the sill. Inside length is the distance from the top of the window frame to the top of the sill. ✓ Windowsill: A piece of trim extending from the window and running parallel to the floor, usually at the bottom of the window. This is the part you set your coffee cup on. ✓ Window width: The distance measured across the window. Outside window width measures from one outside edge of the trim mold to the other outside edge of the trim mold. Inside window width measures from one side of the window to the other, inside the window frame. Rods come in a variety of shapes and sizes (see Figure 15-5). The type of rod you use depends on what sort of window treatment you want to make:
