Y como novedad para 2011, nos es muy grato informarles de que a principios de año abriremos nuestro primer hotel en Alemania, el H10 Berlín Ku’Damm, situado a pocos metros del Kurfürstendamm, el principal eje comercial de Berlín. Este hotel cuenta con amplias habitaciones, Despacio Beauty Centre, cinco salones de reuniones y todo tipo de comodidades. Este será el tercer hotel de nuestra expansión internacional en Europa, después de las aperturas en Roma y Londres.

Decía Coco Chanel que la moda es aquello que pasa de moda. Puede ser. Pero hoy día, la moda es, sobre todo, aquello que los bloggers deciden que sea tendencia. Gracias a la red de redes, gente anónima ha tomado el relevo de diseñadores y modelos a la hora de decirnos qué se lleva y cómo se lleva. La ecuación moda e internet ha dado como resultado un fenómeno que hace correr ríos de tinta y gigas de datos a ambos lados del ciberspacio: los fashion blogs. Algunos son ya auténticas biblias de estilo, y sus creadores, los nuevos gurús del momento. ¿Quiénes son? Por una parte, destacan los fotógrafos (profesionales o no) que buscan atrapar con su objetivo los estilismos de la gente de la calle. Es el street style (o estilo de la calle).

Thanks to the Internet, unknown faces have now taken over from designers and models when it comes to telling us what to wear and how to wear it. The equation fashion + Internet has produced a phenomenon worth rivers of ink and gigabytes of data on both sides of cyberspace: the so-called fashion blogs. Some have already become authentic style bibles and their creators have become the new gurus of the day. Who are they? Some of them are photographers (professional or not) who seek to capture the styles worn by the people on the street through their lenses; street style. So, if you were thinking of going out today, maybe you should think about what you wear. Who knows, you might well come across one of these new street

Wie ein Garten ohne Blumen, ein Hotel ohne Gäste und eine Zeitschrift ohne Leser wäre das, ein Trend ohne seinen ganz persönlichen Privatblogger. Coco Chanel sagte, Mode ist, was aus der Mode kommt. Einige haben sich mittlerweile zu wahren Stilbibeln und Spielwiesen ihrer Schöpfer, der neuen Modegurus unserer Zeit, gemausert. Aber wer steckt hinter diesen Logbüchern des Internets? Zum Einen wären da die Proﬁ- oder auch Laienfotografen, die den Stil der Straße oder Neudeutsch Streetstyle mit ihrer Linse einfangen. Wer also noch mal kurz raus muss, sollte vorher seinen Look überprüfen. Wer weiß schließlich, ob mir beim Bäcker nicht einer dieser Trendjäger begegnet, die durch die ganze Welt reisen, um den Stil

Letzterer arbeitet wiederum mit Juanes in dem Projekt Frieden ohne Grenzen (Paz sin fronteras) zusammen und so weiter und so fort… Gott sei Dank, dass es bei diesem scheinbaren Wetteifer darum, wer sich der meisten und dem besten guten Zweck verschrieben hat, eigentlich nur Sieger geben kann.

LA ISLA DE LAS MIL CARAS Gracias a su clima árido y seco, Lanzarote posee una variedad de especies endémicas que le conﬁeren esa singularidad. Dominated by the local palm trees in Haría or Los Jameos del Agua and with the only albino crabs in the world, exploring the north of the island offers an image of paradise that contrasts with the volcanic black of the vineyards in La Geria, the wine-producing region of the island where the vines form an integral part of the landscape. In the south, the golden beaches are accompanied by a curious coastal phenomenon; El Golfo – a volcanic crater cut in half by wind and sea erosion with a green lagoon known as El Charco de los Clicos or Las Salinas del Janubio, the largest on any of the Canary Islands.

NATURALEZA EN ESTADO PURO En el siglo XVIII, la isla sufrió las principales erupciones volcánicas que dieron origen al actual Parque de Timanfaya, declarado Parque Nacional en 1974 y Reserva de la Biosfera en 1993. Cuenta con más de 25 volcanes y a su alrededor prácticamente la vida es nula. Solo reptiles y alguna especie vegetal, como cactus –muy abundantes en la isla debido al clima–, musgos, matorrales… La Ruta de los Volcanes no deja indiferente a los turistas, como tampoco la riqueza de sus fondos marinos, que han hecho del submarinismo uno de los deportes de moda en la isla. Y es que bucear entre un pequeño banco de peces o contemplar la diversidad de tonalidades de la vegetación marina, que se puede encontrar a pocos metros de profundidad, es una experiencia irrepetible.

PURE NATURE In the 18th century, the island suffered a series of major eruptions that gave rise to what is now Timanfaya Park, declared a National Park in 1974 and a Biosphere Reserve in 1993. The area contains more than 25 volcanoes and life is pretty non-existent here. Only a few reptiles and the odd plant species can survive here, such as cacti (very famous on the island due to the climate), moss, scrub, etc. The Route of the Volcanoes is a favourite among tourists, as is the wealth of marine life to be found on the ocean ﬂoor, which makes diving a fashionable sport on the island. Swimming through a small school of ﬁsh or witnessing the enormous diversity of marine vegetation to be found only a few metres beneath the surface is an unbeatable experience.

Im 18. Jh. ereigneten sich die wichtigsten Vulkanausbrüche auf der Insel, aus denen jene Gegend hervorging, die dem heutigen Naturpark Timanfaya entspricht, der 1974 zum Nationalpark und 1993 zum Biosphärereservat erklärt wurde. Kein Wunder: Schließlich ist das Schweben durch einen kleinen Fischschwarm oder der Anblick der verschiedenen Farbtöne der faszinierenden Meeresvegetation auf nur wenigen Metern Wassertiefe ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Al norte, Haría alberga puntos turísticos de gran interés, como Los Jameos del Agua, de César Manrique, o la Cueva de los Verdes, un túnel de algo más de un kilómetro de recorrido que sirvió de refugio a los lugareños contra los corsarios. Desde allí, podemos poner rumbo al Mirador del Río, impresionante obra de Manrique, excavada en la pared de una roca. Según nos acercamos a Haría, capital del municipio, entendemos por qué se conoce como el pueblo de las Diez Mil Palmeras. El Santuario de la Virgen de las Nieves, ya en el municipio de Teguise, también merece una parada. To the north, Haría is home to some of the most popular tourist destinations, such as César Manrique’s Los Jameos del Agua or the Cueva de los Verdes, the almost one kilometre-long tunnel that offered refuge for the locals against the corsairs. From there, we head over towards the Mirador del Río, the impressive work of Manrique carved out of the rock. As we approach Haría, the regional capital, we begin to understand why it is known as the town of Ten Thousand Palm Trees. The Santuario de la Virgen de las Nieves, now in the region of Teguise, is also worth a visit. A festival takes places on 5 August with a famous pilgrimage involving

En La Santa (Tinajo) también es frecuente ver a surfistas cogiendo olas. De paseo por Teguise conviene visitar el Palacio Spínola, la iglesia de Guadalupe o el convento de San Francisco. A pocos kilómetros espera Tahiche. Allí está la casa del lanzaroteño más famoso, el arquitecto César En Arrecife podemos ver, de izquierda a derecha, el Castillo de San José, la Casa de los Arroyo o del Coronel Armas, la Casa García Ramírez y el Castillo de San Gabriel (abajo).

Some of the best beaches on the island can be found in this region. Famara Beach, in the north-west, is perfect for surﬁng or hang gliding. Overshadowed by a 672 metre-high cliff, its dunes, rocks and the enshrouding mist gives it unique beauty. It is also common to see surfers catching the waves in La Santa (Tinajo). From Teguise, it is a good idea to visit the Palacio Spínola, the Iglesia de Guadalupe or the Convento de San Francisco. Tahiche is only a few kilometres away and is where the house of the most famous man from Lanzarote can be found, architect César Manrique; today, the César Manrique Foundation. The Jardín de Cactus is worth seeing too. One of the most important tourist destinations can be found in the

Manrique, hoy Fundación César Manrique. También es digno de ver su Jardín de Cactus. En la parte más oriental del municipio, se encuentra uno de los centros turísticos más importantes: Costa Teguise, con playas de arena negra. La huella de Manrique se esparce por la isla. En San Bartolomé, por ejemplo, está el famoso Monumento al Campesino. Al este, Arrecife, además de ser el centro neurálgico de Lanzarote, tiene lugares de interés turístico como el Puente de Las Bolas y el Castillo de San Gabriel (hoy Museo Arqueológico), el Castillo de San José (museo de arte contemporáneo) o la Casa Agustín de Hoz. Pero para disfrutar del sol y de buenas playas, la zona sur es el sitio adecuado. Puerto del Carmen (popularmente conocido como La Tiñosa) pertenece al municipio de Tías, en cuyo pueblo vivió el premio Nobel José Saramago hasta su muerte, el pasado mes de junio. Atravesando La Geria, principal comarca vinícola de la isla, llegamos al famoso pueblo blanco de Yaiza, durante años galardonado como el pueblo más limpio de Europa. Desde allí podemos dirigirnos al Parque Nacional de Timanfaya y recorrer la ruta de las Montañas de Fuego, visitar El Golfo, las Salinas del Janubio, los Hervideros o la maravillosa laguna verde o Charco de los Clicos. Para terminar en Playa Blanca disfrutando de sus aguas y sus playas de arena blanca o en las calas salvajes de las Playas del Papagayo.

However, the southern regions are the best place for enjoying the best sun and sand. Puerto del Carmen (locally known as La Tiñosa) belongs to the region of Tías, where Nobel Prize-winner José Saramago lived until he sadly died last June. Passing through La Geria, the main wine-producing region on the island, we reach the famous white village of Yaiza, recognised as the cleanest village in Europe for years. From there, we can head over to the Parque Nacional de Timanfaya and travel the Ruta de las Montañas de Fuego, visit El Golfo, Las Salinas del Janubio, Los Hervideros or the wonderful green lagoon of Charco de los Clicos. Finally, we end up in Playa Blanca to enjoy its clear waters and white sandy beaches, or the wild coves of Las Playas del Papagayo.

Im Osten hat Arrecife als zentraler Verkehrsknotenpunkt Lanzarotes zudem so sehenswerte Orte wie die Kugel-Brücke (Puente de Las Bolas) oder die San Gabriel Burg, die heute ein Archäologisches Museum ist, die Burg San José, umfunktioniert zum Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst, oder das Haus Casa Agustín de Hoz vorzuweisen. Wer auf der Suche nach Sonne und schönen Stränden ist, ist im Süden richtig aufgehoben. Puerto del Carmen (im Volksmund auch La Tiñosa genannt) gehört dem Bezirk Tías an. In der dazu gehörigen Ortschaft lebte bis zu seinem Tod im Juni der Nobelpreisträger José Saramago. DELICIAS ISLEÑAS CON SABOR A MAR De primero, puchero de berros (en la imagen). Pero lo que de verdad prima en la isla es el pescado, base de la mayoría de los platos lanzaroteños. Su mayor exponente es el sancocho, un guiso elaborado con cherne salado, acompañado de papas arrugadas y batata. La cantidad de goﬁo y de mojo, a gusto del comensal. Las sardinas con mojo; el atún en adobo; los churros de pescado blanco; las lapas a la plancha y los tollos en salsa (especie de cazón) son otras de las delicias isleñas venidas directamente del mar. De postre, no puede faltar el frangollo, el bienmesabe, los quesos variados o el goﬁo con almendras, con el perfecto maridaje: un Malvasía seco de Lanzarote.

ISLAND DELICACIES, A TASTE OF THE SEA Your first course could be watercress stew (in the picture). But the island’s prime ingredient is fresh fish, the essence of most of the typical Lanzarote dishes, the best example being sancocho, a thick soup made with salted sea bass, potatoes in their skins and yams. How much gofio and mojo sauce you have is all down to taste. Sardines with mojo sauce, marinated tuna, crispy fish goujons, grilled limpets and dogfish in sauce are some more of the island’s sea specialities. Popular desserts are frangollo (a mashed banana delicacy), bienmesabe (almond cream), a variety of cheeses or gofio with almonds, paired with a dry Lanzarote Malmsey wine.

Sardinen mit Mojo, gebeizter Thunfisch, Fischstangen, gebratene Schüsselschnecken (Lapas) und die Hai-Art Tollo mit Sauce sind weitere Spezialitäten der Insel, die direkt aus dem Meer auf den Tisch kommen. The launch in 2006 of the Nintendo Wii revolutionised the virtual leisure industry. Das Aufkommen der Nintendo Wii 2006 bedeutete eine echte Revolution für den virtuellen Unterhaltungssektor.

Es mucho más que una moda pasajera: las consolas y videojuegos orientados a mejorar nuestra forma física han conquistado la industria del ocio virtual. ¿Sus grandes bazas? La combinación de ejercicio y juego gusta por igual a mayores y pequeños y, lo que es mejor, sirve de motivación para levantar del sofá hasta a los más sedentarios. En el mundillo del exergaming, como ya se conoce en Estados Unidos, hay juegos para todos los gustos: algunos, como el EyeToy: Kinetic (PS2), captan la imagen del jugador con una cámara y la incorporan a la pantalla de la tele, permitiendo a ese “yo” virtual interactuar con los objetos del juego; otras plataformas se basan en el uso de sensores de movimiento que, a través de unos mandos especiales, nos obligan a hacer en el aire las actividades que queremos ver reproducidas en la pantalla (caso de la Nintendo Wii o el Gametrack para la Xbox). Por último, existen las plataformas de baile con enormes mandos para pisar o golpear con los puños (Dance Dance Revolution).

This is much more than a passing fad: games consoles and videogames aimed at improving our physical ﬁtness have conquered the virtual leisure industry. Their biggest attraction? Their combination of exercise and gaming is liked by the old and young alike and, what’s better, provides an incentive to the most sedentary for getting up off the sofa. In the world of exergaming, as it has become known in the United States, there are games to please all tastes: some, such as EyeToy: Kinetic (PS2), capture the player’s image with a camera and incorporates it on the television screen allowing that virtual “you” to interact with the game objects. Other platforms are based on the use of motion sensors that, through the use of special controllers, force us to trace the movements in the air that we want to see reproduced on the screen (such as the Nintendo Wii or the Gametrack for Xbox). Finally, there are the dance platforms with enormous controllers for standing on or punching (Dance Dance Revolution).

Viel mehr als eine vorübergehende Modeerscheinung haben Konsolen und Videospiele zum Trainieren der körperlichen Fitness längst ihren festen Platz in der Branche der virtuellen Unterhaltung erobert.
